82 sounds about right.

www.carparts.com has one for about $80 and another OEM for $148.

www.partsamerica.com has a cheapy one for $53 and a few in the $150 range

I noticed that Carparts has the Beck/Arnley for $82.35 where as Parts
America has it for $128.69.  The nice thing about Partsamerica is that it's
tied with Advance Auto Parts, which is local here in St. Louis.  Maybe they
will do some sort of price matching or at least come close.

I'm buying a vr-4 and someone has added a blowoff
valve to it. I'm curious about what exactly that
performance wise and is there any special care needed
for it etc. thanks!

Do a search for BOV at the team3S search page --- there was a

or two.

Subject: Team3S: Re: Dis 4 HO

I am sorry to again see that Roger's case was not helped by a DIS4,
but in my experience, which is also substantial, the DIS4 HO
absolutely SOLVED any ignition problem I had before installing it,
while making NO other changes.  I would hate to see some people
avoid it because some got the idea from Roger's statement
that there was a consensus opinion meriting a blanket statement against
DIS4.

My 93 and 94 both had problems firing the mixture at high
boost (more than 20psi) and especially high boost with nitrous oxide.
I had narrowed plug gaps to .022-.024" which helped, but still would
sometimes blow out the spark.  Installed DIS4HO, and all those
problems disappeared, and could open the plug gap out.

I don't know why it didn't help Roger's car, though as I recall he only runs
16-18psi due
to gasoline octane limitations; in that boost regime spark
blowout wasn't generally a problem for me, and if could be solved by
narrowing plug gap alone.  I wonder if there was a different
problem with his ignition system or setup, such as a marginal
coil, so coil replacement worked; while firing a DIS4 through
a defective coil would not be expected to help.  Some components
show failure mode only with actual use, not Ohmmeter readings etc.
I don't know.

At any rate, I would say that the DIS4 doesn't ALWAYS help the ignition,
because it didn't help Roger.   That is clear.

However, IMO the best service is NOT given by making unqualified blanket
statements that the
DIS4 "Without aftermarket coils it doesn't help anything but beeing a large
2-stage rev limiter"...because in MY case, and some others, it clearly DID
help.
Roger's experience is one anectote.  Mine is another anecdote.  Therefore, a
fair statement
would seem to be "The DIS4 sometimes solves, and sometimes does not solve,
ignition problems on our cars."
Agreed?  :)

Thanks for the info Jack...  I knew there had to be a good point to the
thing...  If not, why would they sell it by itself...  Anyways...  Aside
from the DIS 4 HO, what else will I need for installation???  Someone
mentioned a Tach adapter - is this necessary?  How much does it cost???

Thanks..

Yes, you need 2 of the 2-channel "tach adapters" to bump up the signal from
stock computer output, to the DIS4.  Installing the whole unit is a minor
hassle but not hard, just follow the wiring diagram MSD supplies and be sure
you use the right diagram, with the tach adapters installed via the
connectors MSD supplies/has installed already.  Tach adapters art number MSD
8912 are $49.95 each in Summit catalog.

The differnce may be the HO and normal version. Many installed a DIS4 and
thought the problems are cured but the hesitations and spark problems came
back afer a feek or two. In the end our stock coils are the limitations as
well as the power transistors are. The later can easily be cured by a good
amplifier like the DIS or TwinPower. The dyno showed no gain of course and
not only myself had to regap the plugs down to 0.03" again. With the
appropriate coils the problems should be gone at any boost.

When onyl replacing the coils helps against the problems what ist the
benefit of an amplifier ? (double sark below 3k and two stage rev limiter
not counted)

I've always been of the opinion that if the mixture lights, it is lit, and
any more spark, wires, or boxes won't help any more...but if it is NOT
lighting reliably, are starting to blow out, THEN an amplifier/better coils
can help.
Separate from that is the nice feature of being able to adjust the timing in
several ways, and have a 2 step rev limiter, such as with DIS4.
Our cars do have marginal spark when pushing the boost/hp upward; replacing
coils and/or adding DIS4HO box seem to help nicely.

Subject: Team3S: Antenna Problems

My antenna recently stopped going up and down when I turn the car (or radio) off and on.  That was about 3 or 4 weeks ago.  Yesterday when I turned the car off, the little antenna motor definately sounded like it was still trying to work, but made a rather nasty grinding sound.  I can hear the motor, so I doubt its much of a problem.  I'm sure others on the list have had problems with the antenna.  What typically tends to the be the problem (or more so does anyone know what mine is?) and how can I get to the antenna motor to fix it?  Thanks.

Can anyone here on the list in southern california recommend a good window tinting place?  Cost means little to me, it's all about quality.  I don't want something that's going to bubble, peel, or get a purple look to it, and of course, it has to look good.  Particularly in the orange county area, though I'm willing to drive a little if it means an increase in quality.  Thanks.

My son-in-law [ a Ford mechanic ] had my wifes car done --- the job looks great.
I'm not sure where he took it but I can find out --- It's probably in the Irvine or
Mission viejo area.
