Subject: Team3S: OT : First 1/4 mile race in Switzerland !!!

Unbelievable, we finaly made it and an event organizer was able to get the runway from a military airbase in the mountains of Swizerland for the first event.

I've decided to paricipate in this race and I will run my first official 1/4 mile races. It includes one training and three competition runs in differnent classes (weight/power mainly). The fastes 1/4 mile of the category wins. maybe I'm alone with such a heavy car... LOL. Now as this is in May I do have April and half of May to prepare my 93 to make it run like crazy for this very spezial event. The main rule is that the car must be street approved and with a Swiss license plate. I know there are many turbo charged Miatas (MX5) around and tons of Porsches. I may be in the same class as the Audi S2/4/6 and RS ... if they are tuned up it will be extremely hard to beat them. First because I'm the worst launcher in the world and i do have no experience at all (what is a christmas tree again). I guess an evening at Speedzones in LA doesn't count to training does it. Well, in the second run of those little "dragsters" I was faster than Brian from GTPRO ... LOL !

Now it's time to throw in the IK27, redesign the Aquamist WIS and finishing the calculation of the new exhaust. Tuning the car was just not yet successful (still think of overported heads) but spending $1500 for an AEM is just way to much for me. At least for a 1/4 mile weekend it should be fine and I'm looking forward to see good times with the 368s and the other goodies i nthe engine compartment. May the god of synchros be with me.

Also this year the people of Switzerland have to vote for or against the change in our book of laws that will allow circle track races again (was banned after the horrible crash from LeMans .. about 1965 or so). Damn, times are really changing :-)) Maybe this will increase the tuning business in good ol Europe ;-)

Subject: Team3S: 243WHP on 3kGT SOHC!

We don't usually do introductions, but "welcome" to new Team3S member Jeremy Glow, who provided the '97 3000GT Base model for an SDS (supercharged) system by www.RippMods.com, out of NYC.  His 3kGT was dyno'd at 243 WHEEL horsepower and 219ft-lbs of torque at 5-7psi, which is almost *double* that of a stock base model (stock is 161HP = ~130WHP) .  That amount of power is right up there with the turbo 3S models - in a car thats 700lbs lighter.  Looks like the SOHC owners among us have some new toys to add to their "wish-list"!  The car has an automatic tranny (with add-on cooler), and lots of other goodies. I like the RippMods site - one of their mottos:  "Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Stock". They sound like MY kind of people...  ;-)  Ripp has also added their blower to a 6cyl Eclipse for a whopping 352WHP.  Sounds like these guys know what they're doing...

Congrats, Jeremy!

Subject: Team3S: power window switch

Last fall I replaced the driver side window switch on my 93
ES because of an intermittent problem with the window either
not going down or getting stuck down. Very inconvenient in
rain and snow, not to mention toll booths. It seemed to fix
the problem, but I just took it out of storage for the winter
and guess what is happening? Yep, it is an intermittent
problem again. What else is going on? I am getting ready to
do my 60k maintenance. What other parts do I need now? Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

I had the same problem with my '93 ES,
I ended up replacing an electric cable
going to one of the motors in there.

It is located  below the window switch
and you need to un-screw 3 bolts and pull
it out from the narrow openning to work on it.

Subject: Team3S: Is parts from non-mitsubishi dealer safe to use?

I am going to do 60k service on 3000GT and wondering

which place is best to buy parts. Team3s has those list

on the page but I am not sure which place sells authentic

mitsubish part. If it is not authentic, is it reliable?
