My Optima gel cell red top isn't holding its charge. I have had to get it
jumped every time I drive my car. I think the battery died when I had the car in
the shop and they left the trunk open for about a week (my rim was in the trunk
and it wouldn't close all the way). I took a look at the battery and it looks
"lumpy" on the top.
Should I go for another gel cell ($130)or just get a regular battery? Any
recommendations? My car is pretty much stock.
Is it safe to keep jumping it? My understanding is that these gel cells
don't leak?
Thanks

Team3S: Optima Red top
If it will not hold a charge and especially if the plastic on top of the
battery is bubbling, then it is time for a new one. Regular battery is
fine if you are all stock.

Team3S: Problems with delayed acceleration
Hi all,
I'm having some problems with my '92 SL. I rarely drive it since
I like next to work and walk there every day so I would say I drive my car at
average about once every two weeks.
Yesterday when I took it for a drive I started to notice something that got
me worried after a while. When I try to do some heavy acceleration the engine
revs up quickly about 1000rpm but it won't start to accelerate for about 1
second.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks,
Jimmy Nilsson, Los Angeles

GTO-MR
Holly cow! How many of you knew about this?
"Mitsubishi’s 3000GT has mid-engine styling that goes beyond mere looks.
Between 1995 and 1999, Mitsubishi produced a limited number of two seat
mid-engined GTO’s (Japanese name for the 3000GT) that were sold in Japan only as
the GTO-MR. The mid-engine layout didn’t improve acceleration (as the car uses
an AWD layout), but greatly increased the car’s handling abilities at the limit.
No exterior styling enhancements were needed for this change in the powertrain’s
location."
