Subject: Team3S: Alignment problem

I have an alignment problem and need a little help.

I just replaced the rims and tires on my car.  When the installer went to do the alignment, he had a problem.

There is no more tow left to adjust in the rear.  The lower control can't go forward any more.  The right is not in at all and although the left is in, there is no adjustment left.  This guy appears very competent. (this may have been a long term problem because I was replacing the tires because the rear ones wear worn out on the inside of the tires - the front are fine)

Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do?  Is there an offset kit available?

Any guidance would be appreciated.  Thanks

Scott

If tires wear on the inside, it usually means the camber is negative. That is, the tire is leaning in at the top. If you lowered your car, this will cause negative camber. Rear toe should be set to zero. I dunno how to fix it if the toe adjustment is shot. There is a way to fix the camber adjustment, but you'll have to search the archives for it. It involves drilling an oval slot where the camber nut attaches.

Jim Floyd's mechanic was able to fix this problem.  I think he fabricated new discs to allow more adjustment.  Jim are you out there, can you find out what the exact modification was?

Thanks

He made up a part that allows more adjustment and he sells sets of them.

Thanks Jim,

I am going to call Rob and get a set.  Now I can get those lowering springs without having to pay 3SX big bucks for new control arms.

Subject: Team3S: has anyone used the mr clean auto dry system

I saw a commercial for the Mr. Clean AutoDry car wash system and was wondering if anyone has tried it and if it is really that good  ?

THe water here is really crappy and I like the idea that it has a filter on it.

But I was wondering if the wash is actually any good ?

I have a awesome Zymol synthetic chamois and don't really have a problem with drying.

I am mainly interested in this system because of the washing.  It may prove especially effective in the winter since we get some rather bad weather here in NJ, the new artic.

Any help is greatly apreciated.
Thanks
Tony

I have it and have used it several times. It does seem to make the sponge
dirty, whether thats from chemical trickery or real dirt removal (as
claimed) I don't know. As for the autodry part - well I cannot remember the last time I washed my car without hand drying so I have no basis for
comparison. The autodry thing seems to leave some waterspots, not a lot, but some. I suspect once personal time and price of filters and soap are
factored in, it's less than worth it.

Subject: Team3S: Know of any good xmission shops in the Research Triangle area?

Hi y'all, may I barge in with a basic question?  My 6-spd Getrag is finally on its very last legs.  Dealership wants $6000 to give me a reman tranny from Mitsu (in Atlanta) + a new clutch (my clutch is also slipping, this is not the dealership trying to sell me something I don't need).  I'm having a bit of a hard time finding a rebuilt tranny, so I'm thinking I'm going to have to either go w/the dealership or find a local shop willing to rebuild mine.

I've got a 94 VR-4 at 75,000 miles.  I am not a gearhead, so rebuilding my tranny in my garage is not an option.  :)

So... does anybody know of any transmission shops in the RTP area of North Carolina?

(Many thanks.)

John.
