pull the ECU, either have it rebuilt or trade it for a rebuilt one. M&S recycle is where I got mine.  There are several other places that rebuild them.

Subject: Team3S: Speaker recommendation

I am finally sorting out my speaker replacement issues. I have decided

to replace the stock door and rear speakers with Infinity Kappa's 6.5

inch in the door and 6X9 in the rear.

The only question I now have is the Infinity Kappa's come in a 2-way and

a three-way variety. Can anyone recommend which to use?

Thanks!

For those of you interested I finally decided to do a little writeup on rebuilding turbos (I used a

9b, but I know its the same procedure for a 13g, and I would assume the same for any td04 turbo)

Thanks for everyones help on tires and rims. Unfortunately I wasn't able

to get 2 of the 3 rims I sent in repaired. So it looks like I will have to

either buy 2 new stock rims or go aftermarket.

1) Can anyone recommend a site to buy OEM rims?

2) Can anyone recommend some nice (don't need to be chrome) rims and the

specs I need? ie 18"x8" 5 lug, ?? bolt pattern any other specs I need? I

called a place that sold rims with those specs but they said they didnt

fit on 3000GTs. Any faqs on the topic?

You can goto tirerack.com

I have lots of options for our cars...at very resonable prices.

I happen to know that JustTires and Discount-Tires also order from them.

NOTE: if you reply to this email, please copy it

to  mgerhard@pacbell.net  as I will be away from my work computer for the

rest of the year. Thanks.

I'm wondering if anyone has detailed instructions for replacing the oil

pump. I am putting in a JSPEC engine to replace my spun-rod-bearing engine

and have the "new" engine on an engine stand.

I'm wondering if it safe to rotate the engine so the pan is on top to do

this work or if it's best to just partially rotate the engine so the pan is

just off to one side.

Thanks for any help.

It's ABSOLUTELY safe to rotate the motor upside down to do this.  This is the greatest part about having your motor on a motor stand.  You may get some fluid(oil, coolant) dripping out of places that you aren't used to seeing it drip from, but don't worry,  that's normal.

The only thing about rotating the motor all the way around is, DO IT SLOWLY.  Get someone to help you.  Aside from the obvious danger of tipping the engine stand over once the weight reaches it's pitch over point, you may find that some equipment on the motor interferes with your ability to roll the motor one way or the other.  So just go slow so that you don't bend or break something.

As far as replacing the oil pump, it's just a simple remove bolts and swap.  Be sure you use new gaskets and seal it up with "form-a-gasket" (pematex) to prevent leaking.  If I can recall from memory, the bolts are not all the same length, so be sure to note where each comes from.

Subject: Team3S: Team 3S: Snow tires in Salt Lake?

I'll be moving to Salt Lake City (Bountiful, actually) soon from Atlanta and

am wondering if I should get snow tires.  I have some nice 3-season tires on

the rather beat up original rims, and am considering putting snow tires on

those rims and getting some nice, new (but not terribly expensive) rims for

the rest of the year.

First, do I even need snow tires there?  I've never lived where snow stays

on the ground, so I have no clue.

Any suggestions for snow tires that will be good for daily driving and,

hopefully, an occasional trip to the slopes?

Suggestions for new rims?  I would like something dark to match the charcoal

color of my car, but suitable for occasional SCCA timed events (I'm too lazy

to get yet another separate set).

How about tire pressure monitors?  Any feedback on using this technology in

a performance (but not highly modded) setup?

Thanks,  Michael, 92 VR-4
