Hey Guys,

Wanted to thanks for all the feedback.

I went and jacked the car up. Low and behold, it was nearly dry. Took it to

the dealer for the formal inspection and they concurred. A brand new unit is

on order. So all of this should be behind me soon.

Thanks again,

Leo

No one needs to have their opinions swayed or criticized. Everyone has their

own experiences with many things. Some may have good experiences while

others have bad experiences with the same thing. I don't buy into MLM

schemes nor product advertising. Personal observation is only my opinion and

others have their own. This forum is not for arguing but for advice.

I apologize for starting this whole mess.

I will just ask for help in the future and not make personal observations.

This is why when I sent my car in the first time to have the T Case

inspected I wrote down the mileage and then locked up all the settings

on my EVC V and my SAFC-II.  I also explained the service manager that

I would be going over my car with a fine tooth before it left the

service lot, and if there were any signs of "hard use" the General

Manger and I would be having a nice long chat.....

Car accrued 1.6 miles and the EVC did not show peak/hold boost over 8

psi    They can be taught you just have to be a firm

instructor......

Now I have to bring the car back for the official recall we shall see

what happens

Now for the On topic portion of this post, is there any interest an

willingness to purchase billet stainless steel output shafts and input

sleeves for the transmission and T-Cases?  I am currently chatting

with a place out of Australia who is willing to make Dog Gear sets for

our cars in any rations we specify... Catch is the gear sets are about

5K US

Man, did you think that anyone booed you here for telling us that you like

Amsoil? Not at all! I personally appreciate that you shared your opinion

and more importantly the product experience. This list is not only to ask

for help with problems but also to share positive experiences.

On a technical side...

While I was an engineering student I personally was helping Mobil test some

of their engine oil. We ran a 2.0L engine on an engine dyno filled with

some secret new oil and were measuring piston friction with strain gauges

mounted on connecting rods. There was a mechanical linkage system there

that carried several strain gauge wires to a connecting rod, which was

moving at 3000 rpm. The linkage was my design. I do not remember what Mobil

concluded from that testing though. I did not care much about it at that

time. But I guess I can confirm that Mobil tests their oil too.

Oil testing --- If my information is correct oil testing isn't very expensive, in the

range of $30 or so. It would be interesting to run a test on samples after a few

thousand miles and some track time. I'm not sure if any useful information could

be obtained from different vehicles but I'd submit a sample of Mobile 1 after two

track weekends and a thousand miles or so.

Edit:

This outfit claims $22 for a test kit --- bottle, mailer and testing !!!

For that amount I think I'll give it a try after laguna Seca just to see what going on

with my oil. A sample of new oil would be interesting --- additives, shear actual

viscosity etc.

Good! Send me info where to send it. I have Mobil 1 15W-50 in my car with

two Road America track days and about 1000 highway miles. This is also

about the same frequency at which I changer it, so it would be good to know

if the oil is still any good.

Hi,

I have a Stillen Downpipe with no front pre-cat and no main-cat, and I

passed Illinois emission test just fine a year ago with 110K miles on

board.  They did not have the right setup for AWD vehicles, so they just

did the idle test.  Maybe I just got lucky!

I have a copy of the Oil Report for my engine from Blackstone Labs available at my web site for those interested in seeing what these look like.

http://www.stealth316.com/misc/bl_oilanalysis_9-03a.pdf

Blackstone http://www.blackstone-labs.com charges $20 for their analysis. They send you for free the container to mail them the sample in. They provide interpretive info at their web site.

Use google.com to find other companies that offer similar services.

Thanks, Jeff. I just called them and they said $18.95 plus $11 for a

particle count report. They are in Indiana. I can send an oil sample in my

own container if I want.

My oil should be not too bad since it has only 2 track days and 1000 miles

on it. Anyone has some nasty 15W-50 that they want to send in for a

comparison?
