Subject: Team3S: LEDs are out on A\C panel, but A\C fan etc work

Hi,
1. My 91 Stealth TT LEDs are out on the A\C panel, but A\C fan, etc., work.
Is there a separate fuse or fusible link for this panel. If so where
is it.

 2. I had been installing a new optima 75 battery which had required me to
remove the strut bar. I took out the battery tray and drilled a hole in the
strut side of the tray for an additional battery tie down rod. Works very nice
plus plenty of clearance for the strut bar. However, I may have inadvertently
loosened a wire connection.
Are there any connections in the area of the battery or strut bar
that I could have loosened ?

3.  I did accidentally have a spark go off while tightening down the battery.
My a/c unit was left on when the car was turned off. All my controls work.
However I fear that I may have blown out a diode in the LED panel.
If so is it rebuild able, and who does it?

Feed back would be appreciate,
Thanks
Regards
Bob

Subject: Team3S: Admin-- (Off-Topic) Computer Worms+V*ruses.  READ!

***One of our members had questions about the current spate of infected emails
being sent all over the net.  In way of clarification, and education for some
folks, here's (a more generic form of) his question, answered with some
important information that we ALL need to know:***
- --------------

> I have ISP postmasters sending me messages like this:
> Our v*iruschecker found the 'W32/Sobig-F' v*irus(es) in your email to the
following recipient(s):  -> name1@domain1.com
> Here's one from AOL:  <<< 554 TRANSACTION FAILED - Unrepairable V*irus
Detected. Your mail has not been sent.
> 554 <name2@domain2.com>... Service unavailable
> I have searched my computer for these emails and all the other email
addresses they claim I am sending messages to. I don't know who these
recipients are, and can't find them in my computer. I always thought a v*irus
replicated itself by sending to all the names it finds in my address book, but
I never get a postmaster message that lists anybody I know. And nobody I know
claims I sent them a v*irus. Is there really a V*irus in my machine that
anti-v*rus programs can't find? If so, how do you find 'em if the v*irus
checkers can't? Anybody know WTF is going on here?  Sorry to bring up this
dreary subject, but I don't want to contaminate  anybody on the list here.
- ----------------->

It's off-topic, but it's worth this lengthy public answer...  I should
reassure everyone - it's impossible to circulate a damaging file on the Team3S
list (or digest list) or on the Team3SRacers list...  One of the reasons that
we Admins chose to use the Majordomo software for our lists (even with all its
shortcomings, like us being forced to use "Plain Text"...) is because
Majordomo doesn't run on Windows - it runs on Unix.  As we have it set up,
attachments are impossible, and we have a message-size limit of 10k.  It's an
extra two-way protection against a worm/v*rus which has infected a members
Windows machine ever being sent to any other member.  It just can't get
through.  The worst that ever happens is that an occasional 'formatted' email
gets through with some kiddie font typeface, but even that is rare.

Email addresses are "farmed" from unscrupulous websites who get your email
when you visit their site; some even track you by putting cookies and
"spyware" on your
machine.  Even some 3S sites which carry advertising, and 3S product vendors
are guilty.  Team3S carries no advertising, we use no cookies, and we don't
even share members emails with other members.  If you have posted on the
Team3S main list, your email is in our archives, but the spammers and hackers
have to dig it out if they want it - we certainly don't help them (like some
*other* popular 3S sites do...).

But the worst "email farm" operations are "Peer-to-Peer" file sharing websites
and "Store your files here for *free*" sites (Juno, Geocities, Napster, and
the like),  MP3 and porn websites, and web-based chat rooms and message
boards.  If you visit these websites without having any protections on your
computer, you are at high risk of having your email added to a "moron list"
somewhere, and your email sold and distributed all over the net.  If you want
to download images, videos, or music from the net, do NOT get them from a
website!  Learn about NewsGroups (which operate like Lists, like the Team3S
list), and get your files there, where it's 100 times safer than any website,
and downloads are 2 to 3 times as fast.  (Read all about it on a safe website
by the best News Server around, www.NewsGuy.com).

Thanks for caring about the other members, but not to worry...  Your problem
notices from ISPs are not unique (nor are they cause for alarm).  Someone
(somewhere) got a hold of your email, and sent out their infected email using
*your* email address forged as a return address.  More often than not, they
don't even know it.  Even these worm programs do it - automatically - from an
infected computer.  And then YOU get a notice (when the message is stopped by
a good system) that your email was infected - even though you never even sent
the message, let alone an infected one.  Ignore the notices you get - just
delete them too, without even reading them.

You might want consider using a separate email filter program which reads
email as text, and cannot even carry a damaging file into your email program.
You can spot an attachment and delete it before it gets into the Windows
environment where it can do damage.  I use one that was recommended to me by
Rick Pierce, called MailWasher www.mailwasher.net.  I get
300-400 emails daily, so it saves me a ton of time and gives me extra
protection.  I also use a pop-up killer, A/V program, spyware program, router,
and firewall to help protect my personal network against the morons of the
world...  There are as many bad computer users as there are bad drivers -
maybe more.  Anyone who is not using protection(s) on their computer is just
being foolish.  And in their foolishness, they become part of the problem.
These days, *everyone* should have at least an anti-spyware program, a
firewall and an a/v program (one that filters email before it gets to you).
Everyone!

You're not alone - everyone is getting attacked.  And here's the latest
twist--  Hackers and troublemakers are getting more sophisticated, in that
worms and v*ruses are now being attached to spam messages and being
recirculated by infected computers.  Since some spammers have rooms filled
with computers which send out millions of spam emails every DAY, people who
want to tie up the net have figured out a better way to circulate their
v*ruses - they let the spammers do it for them.  The latest ones attach
themselves to spam mail and they will propagate forever.  All the more reason
that spammers should be shot on sight.  There are other kinds of terrorism
besides those which involve guns and bombs.  Pay attention and protect
yourself!

If you're interested in doing what many of you should have done long ago -
protecting your computer - we have a web page on the Team3S site that will get
you started.  There are links there to websites that will test your basic
security for free, in non-invasive ways that can cause no damage to your
system.  The link is on the FAQ Index Page, in the Basics section, "What You
Should Know About Internet Security".  www.Team3S.com/FAQ.htm

Best,

Wire 1 to the bottom terminal on the starter relay. The top terminal is
connected to a wire that runs into the starter itself.
Wire 2 is the engine/starter ground, connects to a transmission bolt
(IIRC, this is a bellhousing bolt).
Wire 3 is the actuator, as you say 'the only place it can go'.

At least on my 1994 - HTH...

Anyone care to speculate on what a OEM ivory leather VR4 seat in like new
condition might be worth?  I need to get rid of one and I'm not sure I want
to mess with ebay.  I'm trying to generate funds to replace my 92TT.

I just sold my both front ivory(beige) seats in a very nice condition to a
local buyer, who read my ad on 3Si, for $500. I think I was very lucky. The
ivory color leather is more rare than the gray color leather. The buyer
claimed that all he could find was gray color leather seats.

The buyer was very happy with the purchase and so was I with my two new
Sparco's. Email me if you would like to get one or two of those and I will
set you up with a very special Team3S discount. :-)

Having 2 nuts, a plastic seperator between the two and only one wire that
attaches to them was the confusing part.

Thanks guys!

Well, I don't know how many here followed my saga of a blown motor... To
refresh everyone, a dried up piece of timing belt cover gasket fall into the
timing area, got into the crank timing gear and caused a 30 degree skip.
Result: 24 bent valves and lots of headaches.

After a full engine rebuild...

Bored to 3.1L
Forged pistons
Compression taken to 8.3:1 (92VR4)
Balanced and hardened rods
Hardened and balanced crank
All new bearings
New heads with new valves and seals and everything.
Ported/polished heads
DR 500 Turbos

etc etc etc

...started the car today. It purred like a kitten! 30 miles and 2 oil
changes later everything is near perfect. Seems I messed up my ECS somewhere
(classic problem) and the SRS wont go away (will check later). Mechanical
stuff, engine runs, I'm happy and after (man I lost count, has it been 9
months?!) I finally get my baby back.

Currently running only 5 PSI boost to be on the safe side. Once things get
broken in, going to put all the toys (propane, boost controller etc) back in
the car.

Thanks for the help to everyone here for answering questions as time goes
on. Thanks also to Paul for letting me use his garage for the space and his
car for a model of what mine should look like.

Subject: Team3S: Team 3S: Swapping Body Parts

Hello all,

I recently found all the tail light and reflector
assemblies I need, however, they are not off the exact
same car.  They are off a base model of the same year.  I
think they should fit, I looked at a base model the same
year as mine right after I got my car and it all looked
the same.  I just want to be 100% sure that the parts will
fit before I purchase them.  It is the passenger side tail
light and the center piece under the trunk that concerns
me most.

Thank you,
Carol Decker
