Team3S: Question to Team3s
What is the best way is to install white gauge faces on the 3 in the
center
of the dash. Do I tear the entire dash apart? I took out
the air vent
under the gauges. With a mirror and a right angle
screwdriver I probably
take it out through the whole left by the vent, but
that's not practical.
If anyone has got into this situation could you please
input.

Team3S: Amber GTO turn lenses
Hello sports fans;
Anyone know where one can get GTO style amber rear tail light lenses
for
the 3000GT?
They're sold at GT Pro if you're made of money.

lost nut question
Hi all,
Thanks for the responses thus far, I really appreciate it. I've tried
using
the magnetic extender and mirror idea some after the suggestions, but
it's
just not working - tried for 2-3 hours tonight. I took off the air
intake
hose from the air filter to the throttle body, and that made it very
easy to
see horizontally down the valley - but there are little crevasses
that are
not accessible that way, so I think I am going to go the route of
taking the
intake manifold off. Does anyone know where I can find some step
by step
instructions similar to some of those on this website?
I've got the manual CD coming sometime in the next week, and I can just
wait
for that, but just thought I'd check the list again. Thanks again for
all
the replies,
Nick

I had a local member here in Seattle offer them to me for $20 each, new
in
boxes. He had em on his car. I like em too, but decided to stay stock
for
now.

Team3S: Whats that rumbling in my rear?
1991 3000GT VR4 55K
Still got noise in the rear of my car. I
think its the rear diff. But I'm not sure if its a wheel bearing or
not.
Noise goes away when I turn left and comes from the rear right
side of the car. Going straight and turning right the noise stays the
same. Can't hear it much with the windows open. Put about 500 miles
on the car since the noise started. I have heard that the rear
differential in these cars tends to get noisy. Any kind of adjustments or
oils to help? Is it a problem I can ignore and deal with? I just
changed the rear
diff oil about 1000 miles ago using the factory manual
recommended oil. OR is it a wheel bearing?????

Easy way to check the rear bearings, jack the back of the car up and try
to
rock the wheel + tire while they are still mounted on the car. If it
moves
toward/away from you, time to replace the wheel bearings...
been there
done that and have the bloodstained shirt to prove it.

Try
www.j-garage.com. You'll have to
email them from the website and
tell them what you're looking for. I haven't
personally dealt with them,
but some folks have gotten the GTO center panels
from them. They are
Japanese vehicle exporters, also deal in parts.

Team3S: Question to Team3s
Hi Jeff,
Since you have a 2nd generation car, you can access/remove the center gauge
cluster via the passenger's side airbag hole. You don't have to pull the
dash.
Read Section 52B of the service manual thoroughly
Remove negative
terminal of battery
Wait at least 30 seconds
Pull the stops from the
glovebox and let it hang down
Remove black plastic cover from below
airbag
Disconnect airbag harness
Remove airbag
Remove center air vents
(black)
Gauge cluster is accessible
- --Erik
P.S. The RTFM step (52B) is because you'll be disconnecting the
airbag. The airbag is not something to fool around with or treat without
respect. If you set it off accidentally, it could kill you. With the
proper safety precautions and a good understanding of the SR system and its
safety measures, you can work around the airbags without worrying. Read
the manual :-)

I had a broken wheel bearing on the front-left that made a swish-swish
noise
(not a rumble) when I turned right (otherwise quiet), and it was
not
possible to rock the wheel when jacked up. Could be tricky to track
down...

Make sure the lugnuts are tight. Stupid thing to check, but
loose
lugnuts will make that noise.

I once had to replace the Left Front steering knuckle on my car
because
the cv axle seized inside it, and nothing would come apart without
a
press, which totally screwed both parts.
I bought a used knuckle, and upon installation found the bearings
were
bad (at least it wasn't frozen to anything) They make a groaning
noise,
and it would appear its similar to what you are describing.
Weird part
- - nothing was loose... When we took it apart, there was
literally no
lubrication, but the seals were intact - part of the problem,
upon
removal of the bearing race, we found the race was cracked in
half,
causing my problem...
I wouldn't count out the wheel bearings, they are definitely
a
possibility, even if they appear tight...
