If anyone is looking for a VR4.  This is a good guy to buy it from.  I do not know him personally but has warned me about some people selling 3000GT stuff on ebay.  It has saved me from making mistakes.

He is selling his VR4 is anyone is interested.

Having difficulty finding a replacement airbag (steering wheel mounted) for my 93 VR-4 project car, and was wondering if anyone has a spare hanging out in a garage somewhere.

Wouldn't necessarily have to be the on-wheel stereo controls model, I'd actually prefer if it was not, as the car will be being fitted with a custom A/V system in the future.

Yeah, great seller that guy is. According to him his VR-4 has a 3.5L
engine. I first thought he copied that info from someone's website, but
them I saw another description of a "3.5 liter 24 valve V6 engine" in his
own write-up. Yes, he was right, be careful buying 3000GT stuff on Ebay.

I read that too.

He also is the only one with leather rear seat.

I think once someone bids on it, he can not change the wording.  I am going to be dropping him an email letting him know to make the changes, if he can.

As you can see he is a lawyer and not a mechanic.  He pays people to work on his car, unlike us.  We have to work on our own cars.  Don't get me wrong, I love working on my car.

Moe,

If you are going to send him a note, ask him to be more specific about the timing belt. He says that all the maintenance has been kept up, but then says that the timing belt was replaced, but should be replaced soon.  Something doesn't make sense.

If he says that the 60k maintenance was performed, that would be better.

I would have to assume it hasn't.

Subject: Team3S: Checking for boost leaks?

I would like to know if I can do the following:

1: Drill a hole in one of the IC piping.
2: Put in a tire valve stem in the hole.
3: Use a bicycle pump to put in 14 lbs. of pressure

and then listen for boost leaks.

Will this work or is this a dumb idea?  Will I have to block anything off like the intake or something?  Does anyone have an easier or the correct way to check for boost leaks.

It's summer here in New York and we finally are going to get some good weather and I want to wax my baby ('92 Stealth). Just wanted to know do any of the guru's on the list have a brand of wax they swear by. Any recommendations are welcome.

If the belt squeeks only when the AC is turned on, I'd suspect the belt is just loose. Follow the spec and instructions in the book for tightening the belt. It seems unusually tight when it's to spec. Below are the part numbers for the two AC pulleys and belt for my '92VR4. You should double-check, but I think they are the same for all years. The prices shown are the 3S discount prices from Rockville Mitsubishi. Hope this helps.

Moe, there is a good write-up on stealth316.com on how to do this correctly without drilling anything. Your method would not work because air would just escape through your air filter. I think Jeff used a plumbing fixture of some sort with a hose clamp placed over the intake T-pipe and an air compressor. The article has been mentioned here a few times, maybe look through the archives?

I asked about the 60K service and the condition of the wheels, 2 look damaged, this is the answer.

No I have not done all of the 60K servicing. I have
only serviced that which needed servicing. All other
parts have been checked. Please look at the auction
pictures for a good pictures of all 4 individual wheels.

How much would a 60K service cost in the SF Bay area?
Kelly Blue book rates it at $8750 trade-in
Any comments?

Hi All,
Problem like everyone else.  At idle for a minute or two there is this cloud of white smoke that fills the air as I take off. A few seconds later it's gone. I have a 91 stealth 6cyl auto. The only changes I've done was to add duel exhaust with 3" pipes. No head gasket problem as I never have to add water.  I may add a quart of oil in between changes, but I also take long trips. Any ideas that may be simple???  Any help would be great.. Thankyou, Jack.  Gloucester

Hit stealth316.com, and use the menu to "Pressure Tester."  And why do I know this?  I just built mine this weekend, although I modified it a bit.

Jeff, did you ever try the tire-valve approach mentioned in your write-up?  I was going to try it, but couldn't find the right fitting. I'm thinking of attaching a hose to the inlet, and then clamping a valve stem to the other end.  I'll let you know if it works.

I have a Pearl White Stealth, and Zymol was about the best wax I ever used on it.  It created a perfectly clear finish with no haze.  The trouble with Zymol is that it only lasts about 3 months.

Subject: Team3S: Help identifying rotors

Hello all -

I have a nice set of rotors I bought last summer, but I can't identify who makes/sells them (mainly because my receipts are at school).  They are slotted and dimpled front rotors for my 91 Stealth TT.

The deal is that they are warped (bad) and I need to get in touch with the company.  It was my belief that when I purchased them it was because they have a warranty against warping.  Can anyone confirm that I'm not dreaming that?

If you have or know of anyone selling slotted and dimpled rotors, please let me know, thanks!!

Factor the complete timing belt job into the price because, if I were you, I'd change the belt.  I'm not sure what this guy means by "I have only serviced that which needed servicing.  All other parts have been checked."  So if I bought this car (and in all likelihood I would not because it doesn't seem like he is giving you a straight answer to a simple question), I'd to the 60K.

I think i've tried just about everything, and for pure shine I found that P21S, http://www.p21s.com/, works the best. It doesn't last as long as some of the synthetic stuff, but the shine is awesome. Another wax that works real well is Blitz wax, http://www.onegrand.com/. It shines really well, and lasts pretty long too.

Yup - my garage is full of their stuff.  Everything of theirs I've used so far works great.  Their polishing system is awesome and you basically can't burn the paint, even if you put the polisher on high and sit on it.
