I would recommend and just from personal experience, that since
you
have to take the car apart to replace the bushings, I would buy a
new
anti-sway bar. They are pretty cheap, and come with everything to install
it
in the car.
It tightened my handling considerably with the Addco one
on
3sxperformance.com I love the way my car handles now. Granted its not
the
best I have ever driven, but its alot tighter than stock.
If you go
that route though, make sure you mention you are a team3s
member, otherwords
you pay full price for it, which is about $170. shipped.
I didn't know I
could get a discount, and felt kinda stupid when I found out
I could
have.
Just my two cents.

Team3S: Downpipe exhaust Question
Ok fellas, I have a 94 SL and the
braided flex on the exhaust has rusted out
right in front of the large cat
converter. I saw that 3SX offers a
replacement, but I've noticed no one
likes to use these guys in this forum.
I'm new to these cars and this forum
so forgive me if I'm bringing up bad
vibes! haha My question is
does anyone know of an replacement section for
the exhaust? Is 3SX the
only ones that offer one? I have a Cali-Spec system
on my
car.

Flex tubes should be available at any reputable
exhaust shop. Mine was rusted out when I got my car, and I got it replaced for
$65 plus installation. Prices on the flex tubes vary by quite a bit it seems,
from region to region, so do some shopping...

Hello all,
Turns out my
boost problem was due to the wastgates being set to

internal, all was well and 14 PSI is no

??? 3SXPerformance is one of
the "Good Guys" vendors who give discounts to
Team3S members, *and* they are
fellow members as well... I use them all the
time (as my checkbook will
attest). I have the Cali-spec Hi-Flow cat and 3SX
DP on my 94 Stealth
NT; I have the 3SXP HF cat on my 91 VR-4, too. I've also
got
motormounts, BOV, Dual BC, control arms for both cars, JIC "Magic"
coilovers
for the VR-4 and GC coilovers for the Stealth..., Saner bar,
550cc's, and a
bunch of other stuff-- Got 'em all from 3SXPerformance (nice
discount,
too).
You *might* save $10 getting the exhaust section custom-made
somewhere, but I
preferred not to take a chance and got the 3SXP
version. Great unit. 3SX is
one of the best, IMO, or they
wouldn't get so much of my business.
Best,

Team3S: RE: GT Pro Fuel System :/
Are you sure it wasn't in reference to
GT Pro??? There are a few folks on
this list that have no love for that
vendor (all for various reasons)
including my self.
My personal biases
were again renewed this past couple of weekends, after
installing the GT Pro
fuel system (purchased through Dynamic Racing b/c Matt
Monet is the best 3S
tuner out there PERIOD) which is just a hack job on the
fuel pump assembly
modifications.
Their choice to liberally use JB Weld for a couple KEY
fuel delivery
connections inside the tank disappoints and greatly concerns
me. I ended up
having a local guy welding the pieces together that were
originally to be JB
welded :/
If I decide to do a second 3S, I will
either have AAM alter their fuel
system design to my specifications (internal
pump vs AAM's external pump) or
build one myself using the AAM
rails.....
Oh yeah if anyone finds a IMMACULATE black 99, or a Amethyst
96 (VR-4's
only) let me know. This car should be done in a month or so,
and I want to
start looking at candidates for the "street weapon" since the
93 is getting
placed into daily driver duty.

As far as I know, Tunerstein is out of the DSM/3S
datalogger business. They have offered their software for free, including source
code. I downloaded it and it is available at my web site in the following two
files.
http://www.stealth316.com/misc/tunerstein.zip
(1+ MB)
http://www.stealth316.com/misc/snjrt30.exe
(~9 MB)
I have not used it, but from comments of users on 3si it is
worth every penny you pay for it, assuming you got it for free. There are
several ECU parameters that are not reported properly, including fuel trims.
They say it is also a pain to use and crashes. Why buy software that works
poorly, reports incorrect values, has no customer support, and no chance for
corrections or improvements?
PocketLOGGER is probably the best datalogger

The code itself won't
be on the radio. You need the serial number from the tag
on the upper
left corner of the radio, then give the serial number to the
dealer and they
can give you the correct code. Some dealers are dinks and make
you pay
for the code - good dealers won't.

Team3S: RE: Front exhaust manifold
I finally got the replacement front
exhaust manifold fully installed. I'll
be making notes and gathering
some pictures from the video I shot (in lieu
of misplaced digital
camera). Much easier to put back since I knew where
all the bolts/nuts
were and how to get to them.
Regarding the front turbo - can someone give
me some details as to how the
turbo is assembled? There seems to be a
"snap ring" of some sort but I
didn't see how it easily came apart so I
didn't touch it. However, can this
"snap ring" slide off of the lip to
which it is attached? I don't know if I
pulled the turbo in this
direction and separated it slightly and noticed
some smoke from that area and
didn't want to have a leak in the connections.
The smoke is also the WD-40
and other penetrant fluids smoking off so I
thought I'd ask anyway.
In
case I never get the write-up done, here are the tools necessary: 19mm,
17mm,
14mm, 12mm, and 10mm sockets; universal joint; medium extension (4" -
6");
long extension (8" - 10"); pliers; ratchet; breaker bar. In about
4
places you will need either a 3/8" drive item or a 1/4" drive item (the
two
14mm nuts on the lower left and right of the manifold, the two 12 mm
nuts
holding the intercooler pipe's metal "through" tube to the front
valve
cover, and the one 14mm bolt on the back side of the flange where
the
manifold mates to the turbo - my 1/2" drive sockets and universal joint
were
too big for these area so I had to get creative since I didn't have a
3/8"
drive socket set around. Those folks without turbos can skip much
of the
above notes.
All manifold nuts are 14mm, all downpipe/exhaust
nuts are 19mm, all flange
bolts are 14mm, all intercooler pipe hose clamps
are 10mm, all radiator
locating bolts are 12mm, the oil supply line to the
top of the turbo is
17mm, the water supply line to the front of the turbo is
19mm, the oil
dipstick can be bent out of the way and does not need to be
removed
(although its 12mm bolt is easy to get to once you know where it
is).
That's it for now in case someone was dying to tackle this before
the
weekend got started. Don't forget to plan ahead and get a manifold
gasket
or even a manifold-to-turbo gasket if you want.

The ring is held together on one side with a
short bolt and locking nut. If
you take that apart, the ring will come
off the turbo, and if you take the
cotter pin off the wastegate actuator arm,
you can pull the two halves of
the turbo apart. The ring shouldn't be
able to slide off on its own, but it
doesn't "seal" the turbo up - it just
holds the two halves in place. If you
got some oil or grease from your
hands on the turbo and/or manifold, it'll
smoke like crazy until it burns off
- no big deal, and nothing to worry
about.
