Works great if you want more efficiency out of the system as a whole, it
will NOT solve an existing overheating problem.
If you are overheating, you have a physical issue..either in bad hardware,
or too much HP for the hardware currently in use.

Thanks for the feedback on "Water Wetter".Have not had any cooling problems
and want to keep it that way.Getting hot here in Las Vegas and even 1 notch down
couldn't hurt.

I would buy two resistors, build a voltage divider out of them to transform
0-5V into 0-1V, and then hook the output to a bar graph O2 gauge. :-)

Jim's right - it'd be very tough to get the seat out without powering it up
and moving it forward to expose the rear bolts. Probably the best bet
would be to hotwire the seat to a 12V battery with jumper wires and then move it
forward. I'd have to look at the wiring diagrams to see which of the wires
are power/ground.

Anybody know if a 2nd generation nose (vr4) can be used in place of a 1st
generation nose (vr4) on a 1st generation vehicle (vr4)? I realize
electrically there are issues, but mechanically is it a simple fit? Anyone do
it, and if so what problems were encountered.

You only have to change
The hood
The headlights
The turn signals
The actual bumper
Cut
and trim the headlight buckets
Fabricate brackets to hold the new
headlights
Build headlight wiring harnesses
I've done it, it's not fun, quickly, or easy...

On page 52a-18 of the shop manual there's a procedure for removing the
seat 'when there is a malfunction'. that would probably work. There
are
some illustrations; I can't scan them. Sorry. Maybe someone with a
scanner?

here, so everything seems to be working out just fine for me.
Thanks to you all.

I've found it very hard to locate new, or even used, keyless entry remotes
for my 2nd gen. So we're in the same boat. I see 1st gen ones on
eBay and parts forums every once in a while, but never 2nd gen ones.
Bummer, cause I'd love to be able to use the keyless entry. I did hear
that you could get them from a dealer new, but they ran like $80. I'm not
paying that.
Does anyone else have any ideas on this?

RE: Team3S: Keyless Entry Parts
Wouldn't that effect the factory security system? Well, maybe not. I
guess as long as the door gets unlocked, that's all the security system/alarm is
looking for. Or is the fact that the key is inserted and does it? I
guess I'd have to go back to the user's manual, cause for some reason I think
that an aftermarket system would not "unarm" the factory security system like a
factory keyless entry would. Again, it might just be the fact the door
locks physically. If that's the case, I suppose aftermarket would be
ok. I just didn't want to have to deal with disabling the factory stuff
and putting on a full aftermarket alarm. I don't see the point in a
stand-alone aftermarket keyless entry solution.

I got a keyless entry / remote starter for like $60. It still arms
and disarms the factory stuff, I think I just had to tap the wire that the stock
keyless entry unit uses. It is extremely useful for several reasons - 1) I
don't care about the silly factory remotes anymore. 2) I now have remote
start. 3) The system works from almost 1/4mi away instead of almost 1/4 of
a yard.
and yes, it is a 6-speed, and yes I did say remote start.

That sounds pretty promising Brian. Does this unit also serve as an
alarm? Do you happen to use a turbo timer? I'm wondering what effect that
would have on the alarm features. I can search on that.
What brand/model is the unit you put on your car?

I got it from
www.12voltdirect.com. I think it
was the CS324. It has a jumper you remove to set the thing up for remote start
of a manual transmission vehicle. It took me a while to find all the right
wires and such, but once I got it all setup it was pretty nice.

oops ...
and I do use a turbo timer, they don't interfere with each other at
all. The one I got does not have its own alarm, it only utilizes the
factory unit. They have some others on there that come with an alarm, but
I haven't tried any of them.

I have an aftermarket alarm on my '93 Stealth TT because when I bought it,
it did not come with the factory remotes. I have an AutoPage RF-7000 alarm
and did not disable the factory security system. The two do not interfere
as long as I wait until the doors are closed before I arm the alarm. If I
arm the alarm while the door is closing and it locks before closed, then both
alarms are armed. When I disarm the AutoPage using the remote, it unlocks
the door, but since the door key switch is not used, the factory alarm does not
disarm and therefore the factory alarm goes off. I have to close the door
and unlock it with the key to disarm it then. I rarely make this mistake,
so I haven't investigated how to prevent it yet. Maybe that will be
something I look at this weekend.

log tuning help needed
Is there a website specific for our cars that can help me with tuning using
TMO and a laptop? I have a '91 VR-4 with K&N, gutted cats, Borla exhaust,
MBC set at 15psi, and plugs set at .034. When I graph accel enrichment and O2
readings they are going crazy. AE goes from 50-100% every two seconds and O2
goes from 0 to 1 volt the same way. Sometimes O2 will stay at 1 volt for a while
or 0 volts for a while but there is no pattern to it. Timing at idle is at 25
degrees but the manual says it should be at 15 degrees. Sometimes it will hit
about 53 degrees of advance but drops sharply when shifting. I know the BOV is
leaking because I can hear it bleeding off the air above 12 PSI. I figured the
knock sensor would pick a lot up because of a couple lifters hanging up but
there is hardly any knock. The car does have about 165K miles on it. Can anyone
help me out? If someone needs more info then just ask. Thanks, Casey

Re: Team3S: data log tuning help needed
Casey,
The TMO datalogger was developed for DSM engines (4G63). It just happens to
work on 1991-1993 3S engines (6G72). Some features, such as Accel Enrichment do
not work on our cars. I have made a list of what features work and what don't on
my web page below.
Absolute timing values from the TMO are not correct for our cars. Relative
values are still useful. I have been told that the latest version (but not
earlier ones) of the PocketLOGGER displays correct timing values for us.
I have two sections on the Tech Page at my web site devoted to datalogging.
Check out the links there.
On my giant Links Page, there is also a section devoted to datalogging,
including links to TMO tutorials.

Hey Jim RTTT;you just may be a genius. After your last response I went
looking for the vac reservoir and check valve, also took a closer look at the
vacuum line to the booster. Not factory. Not plastic lined.Just a regular rubber
vac hose that bends too severely, almost to the kink point.I have the
feeling that when vacuum is applied, sometimes the hose may collapse and shut off
vac.Have ordered the correct part from a local Mits dealer. Will arrive mid next
