Thanks, Slayton - this is INCREDIBLE artwork!  But you must list the
individual files' *complete* URLs, since members do not have access to the FTP
server on our website.  For example, the first two files in 1997 are:

www.Team3S.com/~rocky46/1997/3000GT.JPG
www.Team3S.com/~rocky46/1997/M30GT.JPG

Geoff's speedtoys server is our ISP - please use only Team3S URLs, for the
Archives.

Great job!!!  Thanks!  We'll look for your complete listing of URLs...

When you say  'reviews', where are these reviews coming from.  I'd like
to get some independent reviews before buying again.  However, I only
seem to hear of anecdotal reports from individuals.  I do respect the
views and opinions of many individuals, but unless they've done blinded,
back-to-back comparisons on the same day or at least same conditions
.... same cars .... their view is only opinion.  Plus, are your driving
needs and style the same as those testing?  Be careful of 'reviews'.

Subject: Team3S: Doing 120K, should I change Oil Pump?

I am getting ready to do the 120K service, water pump and timing belt, and
it was recommended by a friend that it might not be too bad of an idea to
change out the oil pump (rotors), since it's in the same general area.  What
do you guys think?

And by looking at the engine manual it doesn't seem to be too hard to do, I
was planning on replacing the oil pump gasket, inner and outer rotors and
crankshaft gasket , would I need anything else, maybe the relief spring?

Is it harder to do than it appears in the engine manual, is it even worth
it?

Tire rack lists user reviews for most (if not all) the tires they sell.
While they are just that - user reviews, there's a good amount of them
(the kumhos had >700, the yokos>100), flipping through them gives you a
good idea.

Anthony,

I know. I even had difficulty at first.

Try this URL:

www.Team3S.com/~rocky46/1997/3000GT.JPG

The website is case sensitive so be sure to capitalize exactly like
this.

Basically you can't access the folders, you have to directly access the files, so if you know the
file names your set, unfortunatly as a list we only have been told 2 of them... Hope someone in the
know chimes in

Subject: Team3S: 3KGT is dead

I was driving my 1994 non-turbo 3000GT  yesterday. It was running great,
but when I pulled up at a stop sign and stopped, it died. I then pulled
out and the next time I stopped it died again.  I was near my mechanic's
shop and when I stopped to turn in there, it died again. He popped the
hood and I started it. It idled fine. I had just filled the tank with
gas and he put some kind of gas treatment/fuel injector cleaner in it
and told me to call him if I needed to be towed in. When I attempted to
leave the parking lot, it died again. By the time I left there, the only
way to keep it idling was to keep my foot on the gas. If I let off, it
would die immediately. He thinks that it could be a dirty throttle body
or a vacuum problem. Any other suggestions?

Subject: RE: Team3S: Tire choices

I'm just catching up on this but have had some time to evaluate the Yoko AVS
ES100 tires for the last two weeks.  I highly recommend them.  I was
skeptical at first but have "seen the light" so to speak.

First off, thanks to Cody for recommending this tire and encouraging me to
try it out this time instead of choosing the Pirelli P-Zero as I had before.
This was about $160 each from TireRack (I think the same from Discount Tire
since they'll price match) and the P-Zero was about $225 each).  The P-Zero
has a treadwear of 140 (VERY soft but I was able to get 30k miles out of
it).  The Yoko has a treadwear of 280 (realizing that not all mfg ratings
are equal) but it performs as if it is a softer compound than that.

Here we go with some preliminary results:
1. Dry performance is fantastic.
2. Performance on dry pavement in a turn with some dirt/dust/small portions
of gravel is quite good (not as good as I've had with the Pirelli P-Zero).
3. Wet performance is quite good (haven't gone all-out in the wet yet).
4. Understeer is easily noticeable when it occurs (note: this means a 20 mph
turn taken at about 45 mph to induce understeer for testing purposes) - car
was under control throughout the turn and no squealing of tires could be
heard.
5. Road noise at highway speed is low.  More noise can be heard from the
doors not sealing the windows against the rubber gasket so it isn't loud by
any means but is slightly more than the Pirelli P-Zero.  I don't look for a
tire with low road noise though since turning on the radio eliminates that
problem.
6. Cornering performance is awesome.  This was the part I was not believing.
While it is easy to make the car understeer entering a turn (just take a
90-right at 50 mph and most cars will understeer right through it) but once
the car is IN the turn (after turning the wheel into the turn) then it was
very hard and almost impossible to make the car lose grip in a turn with
full throttle application in second or third gear (manual boost controller
to 13 psi).  This, as I said, is about the most important aspect to a tire
and the one I am most impressed with so far.

Last weekend, Philip Glazatov took my car for a test drive of a few miles
and can probably add some (brief) results for the tires although we were not
testing tire performance at that time (he was trying out my race seat and
harness and also giving his thoughts on the stock suspension with rear
anti-sway bar upgrade only).  But still, I think he would also give a good
performance rating to them.  He took a small right sweeper at a "good clip"
and the tires did not squeal or lose cornering traction at all.

Yes, definitely splurge and get the Yok ES100's...  Lightyears better than
the Kumho 712's for not much more money. <snip>
