Rear shock install on 92 SL
If you're talking about the bottom of the rear shock there has been much
ranting and raving about how to remove it. On my California car all it
took was a medium sized pry bar to pop the bottom bushing loose. I read of
some folks using torches hacksaws, wrecking bars etc to free the bottom
mount. A good penetrating oil is the starting point, if you're not reusing the
shock they the sky's the limit on removal. Heat will probably cause the
rubber in the bushing to melt and the shock can then be removed leaving
the inner steel sleeve still attached to the mounting bolt, more heat, a
hacksaw or a Dremel tool will eventually free it. Take care of course
not to damage the threads on the mount.

PS --- in case you didn't get that far, the car has to be jacked up at
which point
the rear
shock should be free from the top mount as the suspension
drops
and still
hanging on the bottom mount.

crank angle sensor
I was either 2 or 3 three off on one camshaft when I changed my timing
belt. I still almost perfect compression. With this in mind, I think
there's a good chance that your motor is okay. Only a compression test
and/or cylinder leakage test (after lining up the sprockets) can confirm
the condition of your motor though.

Iridium spark plug number
I am planning to get a set of either the NGK Iridium or Denso Iridium spark
plugs for my stock '93 Stealth R/T twin turbo. I have not had any
success
finding the part number for either of the brands. Before I go
calling a
bunch of places, can anyone on this list offer me the correct
number? Also,
I would be interested in hearing people's impressions of
NGK versus Denso.
Currently I am running Bosch Platinum +4 and Bosch plug wires. Since
installing both my car seems to shut off the spark at high rpms in 1st gear
(above 5000 rpms or so). It only seems to do this in first (I haven't
taken
the revs that high in 3rd gear or above though). With the
original wires and
NGK platinum plugs I didn't notice this. I think
the plugs stop firing
because when the power falls off I get black exhaust
out the tailpipe
indicating a rich mixture. It is very annoying, I
find my body falling
forward, the power drop is that noticeable!

IK20's the stock range plug according to Denso. I would probably go with a
IK22 or IK24 on a stock car.

60k Tune-up List
Hi: I have a 92 VR4 & need to do the 120k soon. I
checked couple
people's web site for the part list.
Plugs, wires, fuel filter.... Most of
them are very
complete. But I have a question about the timing
tensioner,
timing belt tensioner, idler pulley, timing
auto adjuster, what are the
different between these
parts? Do I need all of them. I know some of them
are
the same just people name it different. Idler pulley
is a round
pulley. Is timing tensioner looks like 2
tracks that guide the belt? Can
anyone recommend a
list for the whole timing part list that I need to
get
including gaskets. Thanks in advance! Anthony

Team3S: Team 3S: OT another race video from PIR
FWD: From my old boss Dave:
"This in-car video from March of last year during an ASRA race group
practice session by Paul Bonham (Porsche 944 running in SCCA ITE and
currently ranked 1st of ten cars in class) starts on the front straight at
PIR. The next time he comes down the front straight it is at 120mph going
backwards!!! Paul exited the NASCAR Turn 4 high and the rear end steps out
on him. He over corrects and the car whips around on him. The
amazing thing is that the spin continues and it is amazing to see how
close the nose of the car comes to the inside wall. He does not make
contact with any barriers and continues around the track and back to the
pits.
Damage: 2 flat spotted tires (at opposite corners of the car), his gas cap
came off?? and the outer edge of the passenger side mirror was
scrapped!!!
This file is fairly large at 19.5MB so you may want to "save" it and play
it after it downloads all the way."
