Subject: Team3S: driveline play

I'm installing my PST Carbon Fiber Driveshaft either tomorrow or Monday. Does anyone know if  there's anything besides just the carrier bearings in the driveshaft that can cause driveline  play? How about the two mating points (transfer case and rear differential)... is there any  possibility that something in there could be worn out?

The reason I ask is because I'd hate to replace my driveshaft just to have it fail again since  there's play somewhere else.

I had about .5 inches of rotation in my driveshaft (propeller shaft) before my transfer case was  replaced. It produced a noticeable clunk on shifts or when going to reverse. Since the transfer  case was replaced the clunk is gone. I think, but have no way to prove, that the mating gears in  the tc were worn and caused the problem. Hope this helps.

Subject: Team3S: Electrical Problems

Hello guys,

Can anyone recommend some good reading material for electrical troubleshooting?  Keep in mind that  the person who will be reading this knows pretty much "notta" about electrical stuff.

I recently purchased a multimeter, a users handbook for it, and I ordered the shop repair manual  (on cd) for my VR-4.  I would now like to find something to explain to me the basics of it all.   Thanks for the help.

Subject: Team3S: Clutch pedal adjustment?

Hey Guys,

My clutch pedal in my 93 VR4 seems to have about 1-1.5 inches of play
before I actually feel pressure on my foot.  Is this normal or can I
adjust the slop out of it?

Also my clutch pedal seems a tad stiff , Is this normal for the VR4.  OR
does this mean there is something wrong with the fluid?

thanks
Vinny

Either of the two books below can help.

Frank 'Choco' Munday, 1998, Custom Auto Electronics and Auto Electrical
Reference Manual: Graffiti, 264 p.

Skip Readio, 1999, How to do Electrical Systems, 2nd ed.:
Leroi Tex Smith, 125 p.

I am sure there are others also. Check out Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

The transfer case only has about 30,000 miles on it in my car. Is there any way that it could have  play in it yet?

And while I'm here I have another question regarding the mounting of the CFDS. The side with the 4  bolts goes on the rear diff and the side with the spline goes into the transfer case... correct?

Sounds like your Clutch Pressure Plate may need to be checked out, normal wear and tear on them  deteriorate the plate over time, if it was an instant change, however, it could possibly be  something more serious.

Subject: Team3S: engine miss at 2900 to 3100 rpm

I have a 91 VR4, it misses or sputters at 2900 to 3100 rpms. If you run thru the gears it doesn't  happen, but if your just cruisin and keep it between those rpms it misses. The mods I've done to  the car is K&N filter, blitz sbcid controller, stillen down pipe, borla exhaust, supra fuel pump,  DN y-pipe, ekg fuel line, turbo xs blow off valve, magnecor 100 wires, iridium denso plugs gap 32,  any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Pete
