Nope..its not.

However, one would wonder WHY you would want a cooler Tstat...engines were designed to run at  specific temps.

I finally got back my NG'02 videos. Jeremy Gleason had them. He is making
one big video of the gathering, which should be available soon. Write him
directly if you have questions about that.

I have some videos of me at the autocross and at the road racing. Road
racing will probably take a little longer to convert and post, but
autocross is already available on my site.

For anyone that's following this thread, the JB weld method does seem to have worked. Time  consuming, ugly looking, and messy. I completed filled the areas around the mating points with  the cold weld mixture, and waited 6 hours with the fitting right next to a heater vent. Then,  with the thick first layer of weld set, I applied a second layer. I put so much JB weld on there  that there were ugly bulges around all the mating points! I waited overnight (12+ hours) for the  weld to cure. So it got the job done, and I'm no longer worrying about engine bay fires or any  of the other wonderful risks that come from running a car with a fuel leak.

Nope, just the car.

AWD or not, black ice on a slightly curved overpass is murder.

If they do can it, (which I'll hopefully find out later on today), I'll buy it out from them and  either part it out or keep it as a parts car. I mean, I only saw cosmetic damage. I'm kinda  worried about the pass-side intercooler, and the gas tank lid got mashed in good...

I was driving this weekend and after launching during a race when I tried to make the 1st-2nd  transition the car wouldn't go into any gear. After fishing around enough it finally went into  3rd. I drove the car to a gas station, stopped and the car was shifting fine. Drove the car home  with no issues. I have had some issue with (the linkage I was told) going into first. Sometimes  I'll put it in first, start coming off the clutch and it will kick it out of gear. It only  happens in first and I think that could have something to do with the above problem. Can anyone  try to help trouble shoot? Maybe the clutch needs to be adjusted? Linkage is sloppy? Anyone in  the Denver area help?

Depends on what their particular cut off point is (usually between 75-90% of cars current KBB  value)  If you own the car I would shop around and get estimates and take it from there.

Depends on how many body panels have to be replaced vs just reworked.
Looking at the pics the Rear wing is done, pass side rear taillight is done,
pass side rear QP is done, and the front bum per and turn signal is done.
Then there is the prep work and painting, guessing from when my uncle used
to do body work (that was blessing) I am saying 8-9K in work.

I would check with 3SX automotive and see about getting a used rear wing,
and maybe even Steve's front bumper (if he still has it)  This would help
save a few bucks

Assuming we are just looking at a lot of sheet metal - the whole right side and passenger door,  and the combination lights, not likely.  If you lost both right side wheels, tires, axles,  struts, control arms, sway bars, motor mounts, etc. the $$$ start running up.

Notice anything leaking out of it that shouldn't be?

A couple of years ago I got whacked in the door and front fender by an RX7. That was $4,000. The  plastic scoopie thingies on the side -- from the front fender to the rear fender -- are $1600  for parts. Ya can't fix plastic parts -- gotta replace them -- and it looks like you got both  the front, side and rear good, plus the hood. That'll probably require lots of brand new panels.  The whole rear quarter needs repair. Fortunately, that's steel. I can't tell from the pix about  the $1600 side panel. Even without that, you are probably looking at $5-7,000 in repairs and  paint. That might be enough to total it out. They will try to install used parts -- they did on  me -- but I was lucky because there were no used parts available at the time.

I'd look into a body kit. For $3,000 you might be able to cover everything up with some swoopy  parts.

Or try to find a trashed-out ricer car with a blown motor. I saw one for $2500 once in St.  Louis. Looked like sh** and didn't run, but the body was straight. Spend the winter swapping  panels.

I was just kidding about bidding on it.
I have two money sinks of my own already.

You know, the big plastic piece that goes from wheel well to wheel well and

Yellow, slightly faded from a '94 TT/VR4 would be best, but interested in

My alignment shop tore mine right up along the left side of the front vent,
all the way to the top vent, so the center lower portion hangs. It was
patched back together with sheet metal plates, rivets, and some amazingly

need a long term solution.

Well, I autocross with the owner, and his alignment guy brain farted and
didn't check clearance before he drove it on and off the rack. Stupid.

His insurance/the employee will pay for it, including a new part and paint
most likely, but I am looking for a possible cash payment, and then put on a
used part and spend the extra on more go fast goodies. This is primarily a
track car, so perfect appearance is not a requirement, thus the interest in
used covers.

I'm also thinking about a '99 conversion, but not sure I want to deal with
the headlight differences.

Any thoughts/options will be considered.

Alex!  I'm sooo sorry - that stinks... a lot.  Take some deep breaths - it
can turn out to be a semi-happy situation.

You might remember I went through a similar trauma in March of this year
with my black '95 VR-4.  Muddy grass is a lot like ice and jersey barriers
are very unforgiving.  Mine was hit the driver's side, though, so between
the two of us, we have a complete car :-)  Go here if you need a reminder:
http://www.team3s.com/~egross/DrivingStuff/BR20020317/Oops/page1.html

My car was totaled.  I have a spreadsheet with all the parts costs, labor
costs, DIY costs, and all that if you want it.  It's specific to my
accident, but since we both had '95s and the damage was similar, it might be
useful.  My rear damage was less than yours and my front damage was more.
That quarter panel will hurt if it has to be replaced - it's welded into the
car and is $600 for the part and 18.5 hours of labor to replace and paint.
Ick.  Things start running up the tally fast, but it *might* not be totaled.
If your wheels and suspension are all ok, then you might be in luck.  Then
it's just sheet metal, lights, and maybe a door hinge.

How many miles are on your car?  Mine had 39k on it and was in excellent
condition.  My insurance company gave me well over 20k for the car.  Enough
to go buy the one I have now.  If you have the time and it's not your only
car, you *could* do the repairs yourself and get the parts from Norco or
Rockville with the discount and free shipping and no sales tax.  That helps
a lot.  I almost did that, but ended up deciding my free time was not up for
that trade-off.  My old car (yeah, the one in the pictures) is now back on
the road and in daily-driver service.  From what I heard, it only took 4-6
weeks of semi-leisurely work on it.  Don't know how much in parts.

I'll mail you privately and give you my phone number if you'd like to talk
about my experience or your options.

Subject: Team3S: Lash adjuster tick

This is just an FYI as the lash adjuster tick has been discussed here in
great detail. My 97 3000GT SL has about 44K miles. It has the lash
adjuster tick at idle and usually disappears at 2200 rpm and above.
Today, the GT was due for an oil change so I decided to use Mobil 1
Supersyn and the stock oil filter from Mitsubishi.

After the oil change, I no longer have any lash adjuster tick. Now, I
assume your mileage may vary due to how dirty your lash adjusters may
be. My assumption is mine were not in that bad a shape. The synthetic
oil is also probably helping the situation (getting some oil in the
small hole in the lash adjuster).

The shop that I have my 3000GT serviced at (Japanese Specialist, Round
Rock, Tx) does not recommend using the Restore product in our 3000GT
engines. They stated a good synthetic oil would be more than fine for
achieving long life in our engines.

Just thought I would provide some feedback on the lash adjuster tick
issues and my luck in getting rid of it.

Regards,

DNP has been around for a couple of years --- I hear mixed reports about
them. Some claim they're better than sex others claim they have trouble
with their custom stuff fitting. A good shop does not bill until the product is
shipped unless it's a special order.

As Geoff said these tuner shops and suppliers can be a little flakey.

Thats not what I said at all.

I said you have to be patient in a narrow market like the 3S enjoys.

I mean..blitz will sell a million honda parts..and will keep the US sully
lines well fed.  But for say the MK3 Supra..you sometimes will have to
wait 2-3 months as the supply chains all dry out over here.

If a shop has stuff custom made..thier shop may force THEM to wait a few
months to get product, as higher margin/volume orders take precedence.

Reason #647.6 not to buy a downpipe with no flex section:

Apparently they have no incorporated a flex section in their pipe :-)

I helped install the IHI ball bearing turbo kit with manifolds and front
mount from DN on someone's car.  Not only did it take 2 full weeks of
work (most of the time worked was someone else's) but when it was all
together, the car was SLOW as hell.  The headers were such poor fitment,
that one of the flanges blocked over 25% of the exhaust port!  The front
mount needed to be re-welded with new brackets because the placement
was, well, totally wrong.  The hard pipes needed to be cut, rewelded,
and repolished because the bends were so off.

I also installed a hard pipe kit which was a nightmare.  Nothing fit and
some of the pipes were off by as much as 2"!!!

This is just my experience.  I won't buy from them but others have had
good experience.

Oh, and as far as service, the IHI kit was sent with USED turbos, not
new ones!!!  when the guy called up Don at DN, he just said that he told
him that that's what comes in the kit.

Subject: Team3S: SMC alky kit...

Hi All,
I just installed my SMC alky kit last night and after some tuning, found
some interesting quirks with the kit.  It seems that if I increase the
pump speed to max, then the boost on point is changed.  Can anyone
confirm this?  I was running as high as 1.2bar (I've got GT347s) and the
spray on light still didn't come on as long as the pump speed was set to
max.  If I turned it down to like 3 o'clock, then the pump would come on
at a normal boost point.  Am I missing something about this kit?

Besides the above mentioned, I am impressed with the kit.  It's simple
to install, appears to work well, and with a large enough nozzle (I've
got the M15 nozzle in now, but will probably go up to M20- 20LPH) it
seems that it's a very capable product in quenching knock even at very
high boost.

This was all done with stock injectors, walbro pump, GT347 turbos, full
exhaust and intake.

The car pulled like I've never felt before.  2nd gear was scary, 3rd
was exhilarating and 4th was down right cool.

Thanks for your input.

- -My SMC system's turn on point is independent of pump speed. Your unit may
be defective...call Steve.

- - You're running a M15 nozzle at max pump speed and it's not bogging? That's
nuts...you do realize that the 15 is 15 GPH...not LPH. I tried a single 15
for giggles and my car slowed down and bogged. No atomization because there
wasn't enough pump to keep the pressure up. This was with Steve's old pump.
I now run his new 100 psi pump @ max and two 7 GPH nozzles. It's much better
than a single nozzle. Pulls like a banshee and never really bogs (turn on
point is even set low at 6.7psi). It uses alot of alcohol though...enough to
change my O2's! The tank is about half empty after 11 full passes.

BTW, I think the 15GPH nozzle is the largest one Steve's supplier
makes...after all they're agricultural sprayer nozzles. ;-)

Hello all,

Just got my krank vent installed and  I was wondering if there was a
simple way that I could check its operation.

I read that people had trouble removing the dip stick with the car at idle. I
can remove mine just fine. Does this mean that the engine is not air tight,
or the vents are not functioning properly?
