RE: Team3S: Speakers in a 3si
There is a site that Eric Bowden put together...the 222hp stereo. He works
at 3SX Performance and did a very good job with an install. This subject could
go on forever with all the opinions ands options but I hope it goes for a little
bit due to the fact I also have only one piece missing before my stereo gets
installed...the head unit. I like the options of the El Chameleon from JVC but
seem very weary of the moving parts not lasting over a month (any thoughts on
that one) I have a junkyard/Sanfors and son system with very good components (in
my opinion) but would love to hear about others either privately or technically
on the list.
what I got.......
No head unit
Audio Control EQX xover
Pioneer GM
x702 = 2ea
Pioneer GM x802 = 1ea
Cerwin Vega 8" woofers = 4ea
MB Quart
mid/tweet set-up...these were from a wrecked car :) Infinity 6x9's...also from
the wrecked car....about 1k in total if bought new (both 6x9's and MB quarts)
Kicker tweets up front in the dash...fit rather nice I must say.
the sooner I get the head unit the sooner I build the box. I have an entire
woodshop (Norm Abram would be proud) that would fit with a car with a stock
sunroof and cusco rear strut. I might make 3-5 and sell them for about 150
each......custom fit for the 3s trunk.

"Well it really depends on what you want to do. I am not sure if
you are allowed to post about audio on the Team 3s list or not, I am sure
someone will say soon if not. But there are far better speakers then
Kappa's. Kappa's are average speakers in my book but everyone has their
own opinion.........."

Team3S: DR650 Turbos with AVC-R not working properly
yeah, i would agree with doug here. A friend of mine had a similar
problem, what was happening was under higher boost one of his vacuum lines going
to the wastegates was kinking, thereby delivering no pressure to them, and they
were hitting upwards of 22psi. Check all vacuum lines for cracking
(pressure will open up cracks) and I put mini zip ties on every single joint for
the wastegate lines. You do not want them coming off, 3s go boom.
Also, be sure your feedback settings are about this:
1st 2nd
3rd 4th 5th
9 7
5 3 3

Check your vacuum lines that go to the AVC-R and to the waste gates.

Team3S: 15G rebuilders?
Anyone have any experience getting a pair of 15G's rebuilt? At the
dragstrip yesterday the car would only make about 17 psi of boost consistently,
even with the wastegate hose disconnected and plugged - and there aren't any
intake leaks. I suspect that when I blew the motor last year some of the
ringland pieces made their way through the exhaust side of the rear turbo, so it
doesn't have the efficiency it should.
Anyway, if anyone's sent theirs out I'd be interested in where you sent
them, how much it cost and how satisfied you were with their work.
Its either send 'em out, or upgrade to a pair of 16G's and fab up some
headers over the winter.
The car ran
12.471@110.83 on the limited
boost, so at least it ran its quickest time so far. :-) Still
nowhere near its potential though. :-(

Re: Team3S: Airbags
Toby, If you must have a car with an airbag, wouldn't it be cheaper to buy
one WITH the airbag instead of attempting to install one where none has gone
before? Really, your parents want you to have a car with an airbag but don't
mind if the car is a 300+ horsepower twin turbo muscle car? I wouldn't worry
about the Getrag transmission. Even if you had to buy a new one, I am sure it
would be cheaper than trying to put an airbag into a non-airbag car.

Roman that is your problem right there drop your start duty for 0 for 1-3
and set it to minus 9 for 4th and minus 13 for 5th. Also did you configure
the stupid thing for your 6spd car?
Go to DR WEB Board and look for
instructions posted by a user named Ghost271 (thats me) I posted very
detailed instructions although they were originally intended for a MKIV they
work very well for any 6spd VR4

DR650 Turbos with AVC-R not working properly
I tried increasing my duty cycle.
Right now I am running about 70-75%
duty cycle with about -15% start duty.
If I turn it up to 77% duty it and
turn up the boost from .85 to .9 it goes crazy spiking, the boost just goes
nuts, from 10-17 up and down,
There for increasing boost and increasing duty cycle does not have any
effect. Also I can't get it to hold pass 10psi from the start, in 1st and
2nd.
If somebody has an AVC-R with upgraded turbos and has it functioning
properly please let me know.
Otherwise I would be forced to get a new boost controller.
Thanks guys

Subject: Team3S: Lucas oil stabilizer
I have never used Lucas oil stabilizer, but it was recommended to me by a
guy at Advance auto. Has anyone used it? Is it good for our 3000GT motors? I
have a 1994 non-turbo 3000GT.
