Well I tried what Jim said and after a quick 100 miles today the light
remains out. I figure if its out for 3 days it will be ok. here's hopping
that's fixed then its on to the next then the next and so on with these
cars.

I just can't get past the wing on the '99s. Never could get past the sticker
price on any VR4 / RT all the way back to 1991.

Watched a '92 RT/TT with only 15,000 miles sell on eBay for (approx) $14,000
a couple months ago. That one was hard to resist.

A lot of people have only seen it from behind!!!!

>From inside it is the least obstructive in the mirror.  It is truly an
airfoil (inverted) with a slight upward kick for more negative lift.  The
only part of the wing that deserves improvement is the profile of the mount
(IMHO).  Most other angles are appealing.  Most don't believe it's stock.  I
gotta believe it becomes pretty functional by 80mph.

I had heard rumor of this car when I went to South Bend to buy the one I
have last September.  When I pursued it, I was told that the dealers son had
just titled it.  Guess not.  I thought finding one with 5k miles was pretty
good.  I can't imagine what reserve this guy has set.

Hope I didn't offend! If it's any consolation, I think all year VR4s are
nicer looking than the Stealth, which I have.

Especially given the 1999 low production numbers, I'd be happy to have one
anyway.

I kind of figured that the '99 spoiler was fully functional, as well as not
being very visible in the mirror.

 Hi Guys & Gals
Does anyone have any info about next years 3SI gathering? I understand it
will be in St. Louis?, but when? I want to make days off from work plans
early. We would like to go with the Stealth we just bought at the end of
June, (and did a ton of mechanical work to, with the help of this list) not
to race it, but just to see other ones, and to get to meet other people who
own these neat cars like ours. Sounds like a good time.

 Hello Everyone,
I have something to tell, and maybee someone else has seen it, but in all
the years I have been working on trucks, and some cars, I have never seen
this. On the 92 Stealth R/T TT we bought at the end of June, I noticed that
the inboard sides of the front rotors are really wierd. The pads are only
making contact with the very center of the rotors. After pulling the left
one off, scraping the thick accumulation of rust off the inner parts of the
rotor, and taking a straight edge across the rotor, I found that the part
toward the hub and the part of the outer edge was narrower about .080, and
the pad was not conforming to it, no contact at all with these parts of the
rotor, only in the center about 3/4" width. It just seems like these parts
shrunk. (impossible) Both sides (L&R) are the same. I will be replacing them
now, along with the pads, but I was just wondering if anyone has seen this
before. Everything is stock on this car.
 Thanks for any help,

I have a slight problem here in the Middle East, my car (1999 VR4 M.E.
Specs) is fitted with Yokohamas' 225/50 VR 17 on 17 X 7.5 JJ rims as
standard. I now need to replace them but no-one stocks these tyres (not even
Yokohama). I have a choice of 235/45 ZR 17 tyres which I believe should fit:
1/Bridgestone POTENZA SO3
2/Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP
3/Pirelli P Zero Rosso
I realise this will lower the car and change the speedo slightly, but would
be grateful to the list for advise on the best tyre (a check of the search
page says most are going for the Pirelli) and will they fit without touching
anything. All these tyres will fit the standard 7.5 inch rims.

Andrew,

The standard 17" wheel is a 17" x 8.5" JJ so is this the size you meant
to say?  I run fine with 255/45/17 on the track and even 255/40/17
(better match to plus sizing I think) works fine.  Your 225-wide tire is
odd since stock in US is a 245/45/17 for that car.  Look for that size
and you should see about 30 brands from which to choose (very many
choices).

Subject: Team3S: 1991 Stealth R/T Turbo for Sale (AWD)

Hello all:

I'll keep this short and sweet:

I'm selling my 1991 Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo (all wheel drive/steering).
120,000 miles, but I did the 60k tune up about 10,000 miles ago.  Always run
Mobil 1.  No mods except for a K&N Filtercharger at last 60k service.  I've
had the A/C changed over to R134a, so no problems with R12.  Also, I replaced
all gauges with Autometer Phantom gauges (now has Boost meter, Air Temp&
Air/fuel ratio, Oil Pressure, Water Temp, Fuel Pressure). Has also been
retrofitted w/keyless entry.

Body of the car is in great shape.  Bright red w/black top and black
suspension bulges on hood.  Engine and interior are great too!

To the best of my knowledge, this car has never been wrecked or modified
(i've only owned it for 18 months).  Would be a good starting point for
somebody looking to get into modifications.

Finally, why am I selling it? Because I haven't driven it as much as I
thought.  Only 2,000 miles in the last year.

I live in the southeastern CT area, near New London/Mystic, if you know
anybody looking for a car. I can e-mail pics if it helps.

Asking $9,000.00

please reply privately via e-mail to thorholth@hotmail.com.

Subject: Team3S: Possible fuel pump problem

Hey All,
My '92 NA 3000 just recently started having what looks like fuel
problems, and I'm trying to narrow down what's going on.

Basically, after doing 60k service (plus some additional) a couple weeks
ago, it ran unbelieveably well for a car with 130k miles. Then last Fri I
started having start probs: it took two tries to start the car (since I
got it, the car has always started right up on the   first twist of the
key).

Few days after that (Monday of this week), she died on pulling into a
parking lot, and I just managed to get it into a parking space by way of
three die-and-restarts. Then I couldn't restart it - starter reved, but
it wouldn't turn over. Sat there overnight, came back, managed to get it
started after a few tries, took it over to my buddy's shop, where it ran
for two hours without a problem. I left it with him to drive, and he said
it's only died once on him.

Ruled out a handful of possibilities (electrical mostly), and problems
seems to be pointing at the fuel pump.

First - and this is the stupid one - I've never touched the fuel pump on
this car. Where is it?

Second, can it be bench tested like others? In/Out of the car?

Anybody with some oother ideas what might be going on?

Regards,
Drew

You might want to rule out your Idle Speed Control (ISC a.k.a. IAC) motor
first.  Try starting the car with the throttle partially depressed to allow
airflow into the engine.  From what I read on this list and other forums,
ISC failures seem to be reasonably common on these cars, especially ones
with higher mileage.

Also, before yanking/replacing your fuel pump, you might want to install a
fuel pressure gauge to see if you're getting pressure.  You can get one at
most auto parts stores for $30-$40 and install it in under 15 minutes (plan
for 30 if it's your first time).

For the fuel pump removal instructions go to www.stealth316.com. Be
careful and do nor break off that output tube. But before you go to remove
it, you could do some testing on it.

I solved the fuel pump pressure problem last month. It was a mis-installed
or undersized fuel pump O-ring. Read my report from  7/17/02 titled
"SOLVED!!! (Re: A bunch of Air/Fuel problems)" in the archives. For the
list of problems that I had, check out my posts from 7/15/02
titled "A bunch of Air/Fuel problems". Do not forget to check the voltage
that
goes to that pump.

FYI: I have a Supra pump. If you have a stock pump, then you have to
adjust your flow numbers down. See www.stealth316.com again for more info.

Good luck,

Philip
