Subject: RE: Team3S: Tire Pressure Question

I am reminded of a friendly tip from Bob Forrest in my early days as a
member.  He merely said (basically), "Your car and setup will differ
from every other 3/S car so don't try to copy a setup but find your best
solution."  I just had to sit back and smile how perfect of an answer he
was giving.

He went on to say (and I echo his recommendation), "Get some shoe
whitening polish and dab the corners of your tire, air to some set
temperature, and drive your spirited roads, then check to see if any has
scrubbed off."  He then suggested doing the same on the highway taking
some entrance/exit ramps.

This way you will know what pressures your "country roads" are as well
as "highway cruising."  Tire pressure increases with heat and over 100
mph the book even recommends raising them.  Just be careful obviously.

If you want to be real fun with gadgets get a tire pressure monitoring
system that tells realtime temperature, pressure, and includes warnings
for all four tires.  Cockpit-mounted display.

Now fixed but as I was remounting
the thing and checking tire pressures all the way around it caused me to
think and question myself (once again) about the pressure I should be
carrying for a VR4 considering the wheels/tires size, weight and I
suppose
driving style ("brisk" street).

Is this a progressively-wound spring, Wayne?

Cody - is a progressive spring different if mounted one way or the
other?

I'm about to start my spring install, and I just have a quick question
about the rear springs.

The spring is wound tighter on one end.  Does that end face up or down?

Subject: Team3S: Direct Hits Ignition

Has anyone tried the Direct Hits ignition system?

It looks like a very good ignition system that should allow very high boost
levels without any chance of spark blowout.  I found their web site and they
promise a lot.  After a search online I found a review at off-road.com.
They say that Direct Hits delivers everything they promise.  I then called
the local Napa store and got a very troubling response.  The local Napa
store stopped carring Direct Hits because they burned up cars.  It looks
rather simple and I don't see how anyone could install it incorrectly but I
don't underestimate the limits of human stupidity.  If anyone has any
experience with this system please post it.

Here are the related limks I found:

The guy at Midas told me they estimate that about 1 in three cars will
suffer broken studs during the removal of the pre cat nuts. Its just not an
easy chore. The only way that will possibly work is to soak them as much as
possible with penetrating oil and then hope for the best. If you break the
studs you will need to drill them out. It might be worth it to take the car
to a muffler shop just to get the nuts loose. Then take the car back home to
do what you want to do. Good luck.  Andy

Subject: Team3S: NGK plugs - looking for one heat range colder

Hi Team,

I am looking for one heat range colder NGK plugs. I am interested in both
platinum and copper. I have wasted so much time trying to find them on the
web it is getting ridiculous.

The stock plugs are PFR6J-11 but nobody lists PFR7J-11. I am not even sure
this part number exists. And what is the part number of the "copper plugs"?
Thank you.

Philip

I have a small problem with my 1994 3000GT. Nothing works on the rear of
te car. My rear view wiper is out, my rear defroster is out, and my
antenna is out. Could this possibly be a fuse or a relay? If so, where
is it located? Thanks.

Another Option you might try, and we do this at my work is to take a torch
to them and heat them up red hot, this allows the metal to swell up taking
some of the pressure off the bolt.. And I do mean get them REALLY RED hot,,
an they should break loose just becareful when putting the wrench on them, I
have had glowing hot particles, ( rust and the sorts) fall on my arm and
burn the crap out of me.

Hope this helps,

Hey everyone,

Didn't we have a discussion a while back about someone possibly coming up
with a ball joint replacement solution?  What was the outcome of that?

While I've got the car ripped apart........
