Subject: Team3S: ignition coil capacitor... spec, availability

Hey guys,

My new bosch coil tests out to be exactly the same spec, so my ignition
coil was good after all. What a waste of money :( especially because there's
no returns on electrical items. I'm disappointed that the stealth shop
manual has an incorrect standard spec under the "primary coil resistance"
section of the ignition coil spec (DOHC turbo model) The only other things
that could be causing the problem are that rusty capacitor that I just
swapped out, my harnesses, or my ECM. I will go through the last diagnostics
and keep everyone posted.

I got up this morning and my baby won't start.  She's getting fuel and a
good spark, what could be wrong.  93 base SHOC 118000, no major mods, K&N
intake filter/freeflow cat back/res bottle/8mm wires/Bosch Plat.

Don't crank your engine again until you check your timing belt.  If that is
not broken or missing teeth, then check to see if your ignition timing is
good.  If that is good then see if someone stuck bannanas up your tail pipes
or put sugar in your gas tank.

I have to agree with the timming belt idea,,

3 months ago I went out and started my car on a cold morning and it made a
little sound and would not start,, I took off the timming belt covers and
sure enough the belts had jumped,, they were really loose and had jumped 2
teeth.. becareful not to turn it over again until you are sure,, you wil lbe
able to tell if it is them by taking off the covers ..

Problem with mine was the belt was actually ok,, it was the adjuster was
rusted and would not push out anymore to keep the belts adjusted,, but
living in NJ you kinda have to deal with the rust,, good part about it is I
did not bend any valves.. Lucky me.

hope this helps you out

I checked the belt, it's tight and looks good.  Didn't find and bannanas or
sugar. Is there and impact switch or fuze that might me causing it???

You got me stumped.  In order for a car to start it needs:  Gas, air, spark,
cranking motion, and correct timing.  If you have all of that, then it
should start.  Anything else that could go wrong would just be bizzare.
Even if you have something draining your battery, it should still start if
it can crank, has spark and fuel like you said.

Where would I go about getting a diagnostic tool for my car?  Would
those generic ones in the local auto store work, or do/should I get a
hold of an actual Mitsubishi one?  Thanks.
