It probably means you have a wireing problem of some kind --- going off
after 7 seconds is correct, staying on means there is a problem with the
SRS system.

The OBDI or II saves error codes for the SRS system but you can't read
them without a scan device. The dealer could read it and tell you what the
problem is but he'll probably want $75 to hook up the scan tool.

With all this discussion on alternate trannies, i have a question. is it
POSSIBLE that the evo VII will have a similar trans when it gets here? im
not sure of the setup and i know someone out there has an answer already, i

Almost certainly not.  The current generations of the Lancer EVO have the
4G63 mounted "backwards" from our configuration.  The tranny is on the
driver's side of the engine compartment.

Check out page 8 in this PDF (it is 1.7 MB in size though!):

http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/PDF-E/evo7.pdf

...even though you can't see the tranny at all, you can see that the engine
compartment is configured reverse from ours.

Yes it does have sensitivity adjustment, the top LED is very bright, you
can't miss it if mounted correctly.
There's no audible warning but then when I'm on the dragstrip there's
normally a V8 behind me with no exhaust and I've got a helmet on.

I had a mixed, but ultimately good experience with M&S on my ECU.  First
time I called, nobody answered.  Encouraged by Jim Floyd, I tried again and
they were really helpful in finding exactly the right ECU and arranging to
have it shipped to satan to install it.  They asked how I heard about them
and told me about a 10% 3Si discount.  Then the thing shipped late and
arrived late, but that was okay.  It didn't arrive with a call tag to return
the old ECU for the core charge, they had my home address wrong, and the 10%
discount wasn't applied.  I called back to get it fixed and got a runaround
at first.  I called back and talked to another  guy, and he corrected
everything.  In summary, the ECU works fine, the deal was good, but if you
are having trouble, I suggest keep calling until you get it resolved.
Sometimes they seem to be having a bad day.

IMHO - the stock hubs/bearings should be replaced around 90K miles.  The
front hubs are integral with the bearings. You might consider new
struts/shocks.  It's hard to tell when they are bad because the springs are
pretty stiff.  I haven't replaced any other suspension components like ball
joints and bushings, and that's on one VR4 over 110K, one over 90K, and one
over 70K.

I wonder if any of you have experience with this: After hitting a
pothole last April, I cracked one of my 18" Chrome VR4 wheels at the
factory weld on the rim (I bent it too).

wheelcollison.com says that they will not repair a wheel like this
because it is a factory defect.

Has anyone seen this and/or had something like this repaired?

I have pictures if anyone wants to see them.

Subject: Team3S: Connecting stuff to ECM pins

How important is it, when tapping signals off the ECM harness (RPM, IDC, O2,
etc.) for gauges and controllers, to ground the new device to the ECU ground
as well?

For example, if I connect an A/F gauge to the front O2 sensor pin on the
ECM, do I need to connect the ground for the gauge to the ECM ground pin (13
or 26)?

I'm concerned about overloading the ECM wiring by connecting too many things
=)

Is the ECM electrically isolated from the other electronics of the vehicle
such that connecting a sensor device to an ECM pin and grounding the device
to the chassis would cause problems?

Thanks,

No way..get antoher one.  A broken weld is just a larger weakness that'll
bite you in the future.

But....but....but..... the crack is so small!
And...and...and.....new ones are so expensive!

And, as I pointed out to wheelcollision, their ads show a BMW wheel that has
a pie shaped chunk missing from it with the banner stating "This wheel can be
repaired!"

And, Car and Driver magazine says that they do nice work, as do others that
have had wheels repaired there.

But....but....but....  Your car is too nice to have the front end dragging
on the ground at 70 MPH when the wheel decides to fracture.  Hopefully you
aren't turning or braking at the time (but of course that's exactly when the
wheels are stressed the most).

Think about it...

It is your choice, but I don't think anyone is going to recommend that you
reuse a cracked wheel.  Especially with a big heavy car like ours.

Once you have a crack, it doesn't take long for it to spread.  You are only
seeing the surface crack - there's more beneath the surface.

MY 93 Stealth is stalling out at low idle.  This is not a constant problem.
Sometimes it does it sometimes it don't.  I think the possible problem is
the alternator, when this problem happens and choke the engine out, my
voltage drops down to 10V and I have to rev it up to 1200rpm to get it up to
13v at least.  Sense the alternator is SO expensive I could use a second
opinion.
It's been tested before but pass.

They even have bigger valves in them for some reason.  The guy I dealt with
