I'd have to agree with Jim on this one.  Though many people have not had
problems, the manufacturer has installed a harmonic balancer for a
specific reason.  many cars don't have them, and I'd imagine that these
don't have as much vibration in the crank.

If you're after the most HP possible, then you'd probably be better off
removing the A/C from the car.  That's some serious weight and some drag
on the motor, even when the compressor isn't compressing.  While you're
at it, remove the power steering and replace with a manual rack and
pinion.  You'll free up more HP that way than you would with the
smallest of underdrive pulleys.

Most of the posts in the archives have nothing but bad things to say about
UDPs. There are a few people out there who seem to run them and have no
problems. I don't think I'd walk down that road myself...

Go to 3s.org when they have group buys on stuff or people are selling used
stuff.  You do not have to buy everything new.

4-RPO1 18" wheels x$200 tire-rack=$800 subtract about 20lbs over stock
CF hood group buy                              $500  subtract about 30lbs
over stock
Fidanza FW  GB                                   $350  subtract about 25lb
over stock
CFDS            GB                                    $800  subtract about
25lbs over stock
Seats (you only need 1 FG)                   $300 subtract about 90lbs over
both
remove stuff you don't need
(spare, jack, back seats etc)               free     subtract about 50lbs
total cost                                $2800   and lose  240lbs of weight
****flywheel/CFDS/wheels actually give back lost power==added benefit on top
of weight loss.
Thats really not alot of money if you are racing every other weekend

Well, after being persistent with Libertyville Mitsubishi and the District
Manager from Mitsubishi, I got a call from Victor @ Libertyville Mits saying
that he is going to order the REMANUFACTURED transmission and will have it
in about a week.  My question is:  Is this what the dealerships normally do,
put in a remanufactured unit?  Should I be asking who remanufactured it or
not even worry about it?

Thanks all for the help,

I'm politically conservative but that's about it. :)

I haven't seen the most recent claims but AWD dyno
testing results posted on 3SI.org showed + 8HP and
? lbs of torque.  I've forgotten what the torque was -
seems like it was 13?  On my car I couldn't really
tell one way or the other but I usually don't unless it's
two or three times that .....+ 1 or 2 psi works!

I would tell you that I haven't had any problems
with mine but as soon as I do - something will happen.

Agreed.

Trevor weighed his at 42 for the passenger and
64 for the driver side.  I believe they were the
leather/adjustable.

I just recently located/purchased from a Corbeau
group buy [shop in VA] at 15% off list with flat
rate for shipping ... any products of the entire line ....
Decided on two 16 pounders.

I used my calibrated bathroom scale, it's usually pretty accurate when I
compare on a medical scale I have access to.  Since I am more of the frail
and scrawny type, it seems like 70 pounds as I was wrestling it out of the
car.

Are you sure about the passenger seat weight?  I think the power driver's
seat might be 70 pounds, but I don't remember the passenger seat being that
heavy.  Or maybe I just possess herculean strength!  :)

I would certainly ask who is doing the rebuilding. If the answer is Kormex (and
it would be likely that it is), then you'll be OK. From all that I've heard,
Kormex rebuilds are as good as, or better than, new.

That's what I got -- a remanufactured factory trans. It started leaking
almost immediately, and Satan wouldn't honor the warranty.

The information by Robert below conflicts with what the manuals state
and show. Besides the sectional views showing different designs, the
models numbers are different.

Any Stealth or 3000GT manual including the STIM:
model: F4A33-1-MNP1 (DOHC) F4A33-1-MNP2 (SOHC)

Laser Tech. Info. Manual (I don't have any DSM service manuals)
model: KM175-5-RDS (2.0L DOHC)

And while I have never compared a 4G63 block to a 6G72 block side by
side, I would doubt the trany mounting points match up.

Hi all,

I have a GOOD Satin.  All 4 of the warrantee
replacement Getrags were because of syncro problems.
Number four has lasted the longest--38k.  And that 38k
is only driving to Church on Sunday and back and forth
to Road Courses.

When initially installed #4 leaked on the driver's
side.  As I recall it was from a round hole/plug like
a freeze plug.  Good Satin put some goo on it and its
been dry ever since.

#4 is the only one that leaked.

I'm sure all of the replacements were not brand new
trannys.  They were probably remanufactured by Getrag
or someone.  But they came from Chrysler.

Not happy with Getrag, but very satisfied with my
Satin and so far with #4 tranny.

Still take my TT to my Satin for stuff I can't do or
don't want to do myself.  BTW I did make a few runs
against my mechanic's wife before she got a another
vehicle.  Wanna match your Stealth/VR4 against her?
See this URL

http://insidefmracing.com/Pages/Laurie%20Cannister.html

Or do an Alta Vista search on Laurie Cannister.

Be of good cheer,
John  on the 4th Getrag 93k
