Just so we know -  PPT (Precision Performance Tuning) has issued
a response to Todd Day.  I think it's always good to hear the entire story
instead of just one side:

From pptracing.com:

This is in response to Todd Day posting accusations about PPT to the DSM
Email List.

I posted this here, because Im sure it will be edited out of the mail list
and PPT has the right to a response...
- -------------------------------------------------------------------
First and foremost the cables we manufacture are nothing like the TMO
cable..
If you ever held one in your hand you would know the difference.

They don't look the same.
They don't hook up the same.
and the components are not the same.

The only way in which they are alike is the functionality, but there are AT
LEAST a half dozen chips on the market that do exactly the same thing.

As far as the software goes, PPT sells and endorses the TUNERSTEIN
(www.tunerstein.com) software.

PPT has never copied or distributed TMO software for anyone, or for any
reason. We do not condone that in the least.
TMO can claim rights to the Software.... the technology for the cables it
can not....

Todd Day has contacted us (under fake accounts) to see if we would give away
the TMO software. What ever those accounts were, he got the same response
that everyone else who asks that question gets.. " NO "

The install picture on the web site... Your right that is a picture from the
TMO install pages. I will be HAPPY to change it for you.

Granted you have done a FANTASTIC job with DSM.ORG and I for one have gained
alot of knowledge from it. But, on the other side of that coin I can say
that I have personally contacted you on more then one occasion to offer my
help with the DSM Member Database... ( That can now be found at
www.dsmpower.org btw)

In ending let me say that I have never had any personal issues with Mr. Day,
However I won't allow PPT to be falsely accused, especially for something
that I personally put allot of time into.

Mr. Day needs to take the time to get his facts straight before publicly
offending other people or organizations, and the DSM Digest should not be
used as a personal sounding board. He based his comments off of hearsay,
second hand knowledge and assumptions. He NEVER contacted PPT or myself
(from a real email account) inquiring about our products, software or
practices. That would have been the RIGHT thing to do!!!!!

Noting your car is a 93 I would suggest that before replacing the battery
you clean all the terminals to the present battery as well as wire brush all
grounds. It very well may be your battery, but if it is the connections,
then replacing the battery won't cure the problems.

A  number of years ago, I bought a number of items from HKS including a cat
back system for me Z TT.  The overpriced silver painted steel cat back
system came with a sizable dent in one of the mufflers.  I asked that it be
replaced, but I was told that HKS refused to take it back claiming that it
would have no impact on it's function.  From that day on I a recognized HKS
as a company with no interest in costumer service or perception.  Back then
there was little competition for this arrogant company.  Fortunately, I
found Apex'i offered better engineering at a fair price.  Sorry if I've
offended any dedicated HKS fans, but this was my own experience.

Subject: Team3S: Is HKS no good?

Hi all,

I have been browsing the internet extensively for the last month in search
for quality performance products four our cars. Today something clicked in
my head and I came to a conclusion that HKS is a company that I should stay
away from or be very careful with. Here is why:

http://www.geocities.com/lutransys/jlucius2/j2-2-fuelpumpguide.htm
(HKS $800 premium high-flow fuel pump which pumps less than a $200 Denso)

http://www.gtrowner.com/induction.html
(HKS green foam Mega Flow air filters have the same pressure drop as other
filters but they do not filter dirt)

Their $600+ electronic boost controllers, gauges, and intercoolers are
overpriced for the features that they provide.

Are there any products at all that this company makes well?

What features are you looking for in a boost controller that the HKS EVC IV
doesn't do?  Per-gear boost control is about the only thing I can think of.
Their peak-hold/replay gauges are kinda nice.  The intercoolers are a better
design than the stock ones.

Sure, there are other companies making competing products - which in most
cases are better in some respects than the HKS ones - and almost always less
expensive.

HKS VPC has a pretty loyal following.

I am looking for RPM-based boost adjustment. You could have a higher boost
at higher RPM without knock. Apexi has that feature in their AVC-R. To get
that from HKS you need to buy their EVC PRO for $1590.00 MSRP.

I forgot that they make the VPC. But it has a limited adjustability and
people still have to buy Apexi S-AFC to make it work properly. But as I
wrote  yesterday, if you have an AFC, you could become a little creative,
save $1000+ and run your favorite 720 cc injectors with a stock MAS.
