Some of the very first cars from the 95 production year do have glass
still, they do exist, there is just not very many of them . . .

Hey Cody,

One quick correction.  Only the 94 headlights are glass on both the
Stealth and 3000GT.  95+ cars had the lexan plastic covered headlights.

Update on my problem with setting the basic ignition timing on my car-
Apparently having the datalogger plugged in while grounding the ignition
timing adjustment terminal causes some kind of problem.  Unplugging it made
everything work correctly.  Live and learn....

Subject: Team3S: 94-95 Datalogging

All -

Has anyone tried either of the Pocketlogger (DSM or OBDII) versions on a
94-95 3000GT?  I don't know which of the plugs would fit, but I'd be curious
to see if the program could get anything at all.

I desperately want to get that cool toy running on my '94 VR-4, but the
Pocketlogger guy says he's got no immediate plans to do a version for our
cars.  I don't know whether that's because it's a lot of work, or if it's
just because he didn't have an ECU to play with.  I'm half tempted to buy
whichever cable will fit my car and see if I can read the voltages and make
sense of them myself.  :(

Thanks,
- - Brian

Speaking of datalogging, here's something that might concern some of you
from Todd Day (creator of the TMO Datalogger), posted on the DSM Digest:

If you have purchased a TMO chip from the "clearance" section of
www.rollhard.com, please contact me immediately.  It is probably
an illegal copy.  I have gotten ahold of one of these copies after
being tipped off by another person who bought one of these and found
that it didn't work right.  It does not surprise me at all that it
doesn't work.  The copy I received was not a faithful copy and contained
several errors.  Depending on where the errors in the copy occur, it
could cause damage to your engine, if the ECU even runs at all.  I am
not making this up to scare people straight.  The person making these
copies does not know what he is doing, nor what we have done to the
EPROMs to thwart copying attempts.

Apparently, Rollhard got scammed by someone claiming to be a TMO dealer.
I have no dealers for my chips.  We do not make enough money on these
mods to support ourselves, so we can't afford dealer discounts.  I
traced
this chip back to an original sale to James Chao at the end of last
July,
from which he apparently sold the chip on the trader.  Now someone named
Jason Partsky of Knoxville has copied the chips and is selling them on
the
trader and elsewhere.  Other aliases used apparently are Yeung Dang and
Mike
Carta.  That last alias is particularly interesting as I think people
have
complained about someone by that name before on the trader.

The other thing I'd like to bring up is that PPTRacing has copied our
datalogger idea and are undercutting us.  I guess that was inevitable,
but this same place does *NOT* sell the software for using their
adapter,
which is truly the key to the entire product.  They make the claim that
there is some kind of OBDI standard software that can be used.  They
don't
provide any links to this mysterious software.  It is sort of a
wink-wink,
nudge-nudge operation where I guess you are supposed to copy my software
from someone else.  I could be wrong about this, but I have never gotten
an answer from anyone on this topic despite repeated emails from various
fake accounts.  I also have found people on the trader claiming to sell
my software separately from the cable, which is illegal.  The license
distributed with the software and agreed to during the setup program
states that you have no rights to my software without my cable.

PPTRacing copied exactly a photo from my datalogger installation for
their website without my permission.

Backup copy in case they change it
http://www.tmo.com/diagram.jpg

Note the red wire in the lower part of the photo and that fuse #8 is
filled
in.  These are not standard.  They are the result of me hardwiring in a
Hella headlight conversion kit in my own Talon.  One would think they
would
not be so damn brazen about it.  Oh well.

I'd also like to point out that I'm the only one here that has been
doing
this Digest and building this DSM community since August 11th, 1990.
TMO
is a two man operation and has never produced enough cashflow to become
a
business in its own right.  My business partner and I still have very
demanding jobs in an unrelated startup that we helped finance and create
and are barely hanging on by our teeth.  It is very rare to find ECU
mods
on any car for $200 and $300.  I believe we were also the first to ever
offer ECU mods that actually *added* completely new functionality to the
ECU instead of just changing the maps.  In light of all this, it really
hurts to find people blatantly copying our stuff.  It is one thing for
people to copy an idea that we didn't protect with a patent, but still
requires some work and thought and brains and skill to implement.  It is
quite another to make exact facsimiles that require no work or skill or
brains on the part of the copier.

Subject: Team3S: CODE 43; EGR (??)

Group,
I got the Check Engine Light warning on my '91 Stealth R/T TT.  The error code was 43.  I think it's the EGR solenoid that's malfunctioning.  After the test, the warning light went off.
Any suggestions, feedback, comments etc. are MUCH appreciated.
Thanks,
JD  '91 R/T TT
