Subject: Team3S: Check Engine Light

Ok gurus, I'm in need of some assistance.

My check engine light has once again decided to show it's ugly face.  Is
there an easy way for me display the engine codes that have generated?

The last time this happened (exactly 1 week ago today), I asked for help and
had no replies, so I reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for 10
minutes.  That made the check engine light go away, until this evening......

Nothing strange to report, the engine is running normal, no hesitation, no
decrease in performance, etc.....  I just want to diagnose the problem
before I have it checked out by the dealer.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Wayne

hello:

i was wondering if anybody has any experience with the high mounted stop
light (the one on the spoiler).
on my stealth r/t 92 it seems to be a sealed l.e.d. unit (it's stock,
right?). not only that, i couldn't see any way to unplug it. there is a wire
coming from inside the spoiler that goes into the unit, but no plug-in (at
least i couldn't see one).
i'd like to fix it since i believe it's a good safety device.

thank you.

andrei kryjevski.

One easy (and free!) way is to go to AutoZone and have them run the codes
for you.  Just recently they started offering this service for free.  I
looked up a code in my g/f's car and they checked it out quickly (less than
a min), looked up the code in a book they had in the store, and told me what
it meant.
You may want to try that,
bill

WOW!!! Thanks a lot for the tip, Bill!
Dealer$hips charge $40 - $80 just to plug in their scan tool and you
usually also have to make an appointment.

AutoZone rules! They saved me this year when I was stuck in Chicago with a
seized generator at 12 AM on a Sunday night of the Labor Day weekend. AAA
won't even pick up the phone. Guys at AutoZone found the generator for me,
installed the right pulley on it with their air impact gun, and... let me
borrow their tools to install it too! I was done in couple hours and safely
returned home. All thanks to AutoZone.

defogger doesn't work even though the dash light comes on. Also, my rear
view wiper system will spray water, but the wipers won't run. I don't see
fuse for either in the panel at my feet. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks, Kim
- ------------------

I took a quick glance at the "Manual on CD" (you should buy one, if you
don't have the manuals - where to buy them is on the FAQ pages, Basics
Section).  All I found is that the relay appears to be C05X (94 3kGT only);
I don't have the time to study it, but it appears that fuses F02 and F05 are
the ones you need to check.  There was another diagram that indicated that
both defogger and wipers were on the same line (or at least the same bus),
which makes some sense...  Wish I could help more, but I'm really jammed
with work...  Gotta run.

Good luck!

Forrest

Wayne,

You can use the indicator light to give you the failure code by grounding
terminal  1  on the left top side on the diagnostic receptacle below the
steering colum.
Turn on the ignition and count the long and the short blinks to get a number
like 22

Good luck

Andrei,

Yes there is a plug shown in the manual but you have to remove the lower
trim on the lift gate.
the spoiler has to be moved also in order to remove the rear light.
You can also test the LED light on the plug.

Good luck

Subject: Team3S: NEED INFO

Hi guys,

My EGR works manually isn't controlled by electronic but it works by vacuum
rubber tube (vacuum hose) that connected to throttle body.
I removed EGR unit from intake manifold and check if EGR still works
properly after installed it and connected all vacuum rubber tube (vacuum
hose)  to throttle body then I start to crank the engine and let it run idle
5 minutes.
Afterwards I reconnect a vacuum hose from EGR directly and feel by finger if
there is vacuum in that hose by increasing rpm hardly. But I wonder there is
no vacuum on that vacuum hose. In my opinion if I am right it should feel
vacuum whenever rpm be increased hardly. I already checked hose by hose
perhaps there is a leakage but no leakage on it.
If anybody knows about the work of EGR or how to work it, please let me
know.
Your kindly attention will be highly appreciated.

Kindly regards,
Jane
