I do have the G-Force and with larger injectors the timing can be changed as
with the low airflow reading it gets from teh ARC the timing is way too
advanced from the ECU.

Today, I wouldn't buy it again. No gain, nothing different, only one
headache more in the upgrade process ;-)

Haltech isn't easy to tune it in and some where successful, and some not. I
do not have much time and the neccessary money to test all the stuff but I'm
sure others already did.

You may wait another six months for sure and the product is not new then. It
is known on the market like a Haltech (Brian is also using). The ARC does
only modify the airflow signal and gives constant values to the ECU for temp
and baro pressure. A standalone ECU offers much more tuning capability but
is pretty expensive then. It will run you around $1600 or even more :(

Under the line it is yet not sure what pure alcohol injection does bad to
the systems. We already heard of wrong O2 measurnments on our cars when
running pure alc as well as a too hot burn and therefore burnt valves and
pistons that may be caused by the alcohol. But some report great times due
to AI and have good results without knock on the engine.

I myself am running pure water or a max mix of 50/50 with methanol. I've
read a lot of the GN but must learn that this stuff doesn't really apply to
our cars too. But finally, with WI/AI one is able to increase boost without
getting the excessive knock afterwards.

Dave,

The Big Red does extend past the stock rotor size by about .25 inch.
Brad is developing a rotor that will match the size of the Big Red.

I also would be interested in knowing if Porterfield, etc. have a
rotor that would work.
What is the size of our stock rotors ?

Hi All,

Since there are quite a few of you who either have or know a heck of a lot
about the Big Red set up I have a question for you.

I had heard, since I don't have the Big Red set up yet, that the pads over
lap the 94+ stock rotors by a fraction of an inch.  First is this true and
if so has anyone found a rotor, from maybe a Surpa, or something, that might
fit the Big Red set up better?  Or even spoke to Porterfield to see what
they have available, if this is the case?

As soon as I can hook up with Flash, I am going to try one of my wheels on
his car to make sure I have clearence, before I decide what I am going to
do.

Thanks,

Dave Best

Roger,

My conversations with Brian at GT Pro indicate the product he is
developing is a new, custom ECU specifically designed for our cars. He has
had two prototypes since 7May01. Results TBD (to be determined).

It won't be cheap but it will do everything except fix you
breakfast.

According to my somewhat limited understanding the Big Reds, they will work
with the 2nd gen rotors and according to the man him self, directly off Jeff
Lucius' web page:

"The stock front rotors (1994+) are 314 mm x 30 mm and weigh about 17.2 lbs
(7.8 kg)."

So what we would need to know from Porterfield is if they have a rotor that
has the same hat design as the 94+ rotors that are, what ever 1/4 inch is in
mm's, larger in diameter.

1. Pure denatured alcohol doesn't change O2's while spraying...Isopropyl
does.
2. EGT's drop dramatically while running a well tuned alcohol system. My
EGT's dropped 100-150F at WOT at the same boost level. Burning a valve
becomes LESS of a problem.

Porterfield can make hats custom if you want. Generally if you buy
rotors from them you will have to purchase hats separately just as in
most other applications. I think Porterfield makes there replacement
rotors OEM so the stock hats should work. If there is only a rotor
thickness change that seems to be more a stud issue.

The question regarding mm and inches is simple since 332mm=13 inches
means 1 inch = 25.54 mm or 1/4 inch =~6.4 mm

Richard,

I believe it is the diameter not the thickness that is the issue.

DSM SHOOTOUT ENTRANT LIST Update 7-16-01
Here is the list of those coming so far--
If you aren't here or want to be, or can't come, email me at
xwing@wi.rr.com!

DSM SHOOTOUT July 20-22 2001
Norwalk Raceway Park, Norwalk Ohio
Sponsor: Buschur Racing
http://www.buschurracing.com/buschur/shootout2001.nsf

3S classes:  Dave was going to give us ONE, but I got him to allow 2
this year.  Remember, last year we had about eight 3S cars racing TOTAL, and
we are GUESTS here...this is a "building" year so if all goes well
maybe we can get a NA class etc. next year...I know we
will all be on our BEST, friendly behavior toward our DSM hosts/bretheren!
This will be exciting--a "Quick 8" class will showcase the fastest for us,
the
DSM's, and the magazines.  (I had to battle to get this second class,
and THANK YOU to Dave Buschur for allowing it).

Classes:
1)  Heads Up (race, run what you've brung, all out!)
2)  Quick 8  (the FASTEST 8 Qualifiers will BE the Quick 8!)

If you MUST, I think you can enter into the DSM bracket classes (NA cars may
want to do that).

NOS allowed.  Both front seats in place. Dave wants the REAR seats/interior
all in, UNLESS
it interferes with roll cage.

Our Shootout is on Friday July 20; BE THERE by 8am
ALL IMPORT Shootout on Sunday July 22.
There is an autocross Saturday, open to 3S and DSM's.
