1. Damage to engine from driving without oil?
Jim,
Thanks for
sharing the story. The exact thing happened to my brother.
He
heard a loud bang 6 miles after changing his oil, but dismissed it
as
running something over on the road (it was night). Previous to that
his oil
pressure was unusually high (and he was happy). After driving
another 2-4
miles through the city (40-50 mph easy driving under 4000 RPM),
he saw the
oil pressure decrease. He pulled over and noticed a puddle
under his car.
He did not drive it until he had new oil placed in the car the
next day
(while he slept in his car for the night).
He will report
this problem to his insurance and will also write Jiffy Lube
for a formal
complaint. If they cover the cost of a check-up, it may be
worth to get
a compression check. What else should a mechanic look at.
He
probably should not ask for a complete engine teardown and inspection
of
cylinders, or should we?

Fuel Pumps
Jeff,
I have I also been investigating the matter
and contacted Denso in Japan and
here is what they had to say.
<Answer>
I'd like to reply to your question and request
regarding Fuel Pump.
As you stated, 195130-0771 is our product for Mazda
Cosmo, but it
flows 48 gph. (not 90gph)
We are not be able to supply
this part directly to the users and
doesn't keep stock.
Please contact
to Mazda dealer for your supply.
Although I'm not sure US Mazda
dealer could help you for the
vehicle for Japanese market.
But, Please
try it.
Thank you very much.
Yours
sincerely

DENSO CORPORATION
I don't know what to make
of it? I'm going to talk to them more and find out
what I
can.
Later,
George

That setup is an absolute godawful MESS!
Reminds me of
something one of my kids would devise.
It's so much easier to use a
highflow intank
in conjuction with a super highflow external inline.
One
line in [stock return] and one big line out.[steel braided]
Clean, simple,
neat and effective.
I guess some people just like complication?

When I spoke to HKS tech reps about their S/3K pump
back
in 94' they claimed/assured me it was good to 600HP.
This according to
HKS USA in CA.
I'm sure they were assuming stock line.
