Team3S: PNW Area Driving Events WAS: Racing at ThunderHill...
I
drove in a Shelby Club sponsored event at PIR on June 1. I had a
fantastic
time--even though it was raining most of the day! In the rain it's
*really*
nice to have a VR-4 instead of a Cobra! They're doing another on
July 10.
More info at their site:
http://www.saacnw.org/homepage.htmPIR
is a nice track, but nowhere near as interesting or challenging
as
Thunderhill. I can't wait for the 30th!
For lots of info on
opentracking check out
http://www.opentracking.com/
and
consider joining their e-mail list.
Opentrack events can be found
at almost all race tracks--they've got to keep
that track rented to pay the
bills!

Team3S: a/c mildew odor
Unfortunately, this can be a nasty problem. The
smell is probably the result
of mold in the part of the AC system that is
inside your car, under the
dashboard, that looks like a small radiator. (I
think it is called the
condensor, but I can't remember for sure.) The problem
can be temporarily
defeated by spraying LYSOL spray into the air intake while
the AC is
running. This may, or may not, fix the problem. If it fixes it -
great. If
not, then you need to actually clean the condensor and getting to
it is a
major headache. I have not had the Stealth dash disassembled so I
can't tell
you how much of a headache. Maybe someone else on the list can
shed some
light on this for you.

No..they dont do anything.
Typically they dont -care- about numbers at
the open track days, but be
prepared. Bring tape/shoe polish..whatever.
They will NOT have numbers
to hand out.
Windows also have to be rolled down for this..so you can use
that space
either.

every track and club is
different - at heartland park one PCA club wrote the
numbers with shoe polish
in the little rear pane of glass each side, same
track different club had
vinyl numbers that they stuck on the same little
panes of glass, becuase the
numebrs were white and we had white cars.

NASA requires a three digit number on each
side of the car ---- the numbers
must be a min. of 8" and in a contrasting
color to the car. The number allows
them to whack your pee-pee if you do a
bad thing on the other side of the
track. The last event I went to had a
manditory drivers meeting after each
session --- if you did a dumb dumb they
have your number.

Subject: Team3S: Need
datalogger help in San Jose Area
Hello San Jose, CA people,
I'm
writing this e-mail on behalf of my brother that is temporarily
relocated in
CA. He is looking at buying a 95? Eclipse Turbo and would like
to study
the car in as much detail as possible before commiting to buying
it. He
has a G-teck pro with him, he can drive it and visually inspect
it.
*****Does anyone in the SAN JOSE area have a Datalogger?
Is it possible
anyone could help him tomorrow/this weekend with plugging the
datalogger in
this car to see if there is anything wrong internally? He
has a laptop, if
that means anything to anyone? He would also drive to
your house/place of
choice to save you the trouble.
If anyone wants to
help, my brother, JOHN, can be reached on his cellular
anytime at
734-657-3343. He is a bit constrained by time because we started
the
shipping process of his 94 TT from Michigan to California. However,
his
car is awaiting a transport truck. As long as his car hasn't left
the
shipping yard, they will refund his $775 - $20 storage fees.
Thank
you for any help.
- -MIKE-
95 Red VR4
Soon to be sold, but it's
still up for grabs.

Just
keep in mind that is a 2nd gen Eclipse and the TMO logger won't
work...

Team3S: Refurbished ECU's
What everyone's opinion on these third parties
that
repair and and rebuild ecu's? I am on my second one
ready to send it
back for another again, or possibly
a refund. Vineet was nice to recommend
'foreign ecu
repair' and they were indeed helpful and well priced, but Im
beginning to wonder how thoroughly these units are given
a check-through
on.
The day after I threw in this second ecu - and tell me if
this
sounds like a likely culprit and not just something else- I
started
having some really peculiar shifting (moving forward at
any rpm wouldnt shift
from first, or by contrast would not shift from 3rd
at any rpm, manually or
in D), and also possibly that the car was running
more poorly (retarded
timing?). I decided it could be the torque request
signal line between the
ecu and the tcu to control the shifting of the
transmission. Just in case, I
did another filter-fluid change on it. Needless
to say I am off the road
again and rather frustrated...any
advice?
thanks,
john

If youre talking about the one
we were at..
Numbers were pretty much optional..cept for the race run
groups.
I DID like the mandatory meeting tho..puts everything quickly in
focus
when its warm on the brain.

FS: 1996 VR-4
I have a 1996 3000GT VR-4 for sale that I thought I had
sold until
someone(s) just backed out on me. And before that I broke my hand
and
couldn't keep up. That leaves me still looking for a buyer. The car
is
red/tan and it has 78K miles on it. The car is 100% stock and has never
been
raced and always babied. I have kept in perfect condition as long as
I've
had it (since 38K miles) and now I have to part with it. The car
is
mechanically 100% up to speck and I have had all service done up to
date.
The car does not burn a drop of oil between oil changes which are done
every
3K miles with Mobil 1. The car really does sell itself. Pics are
available
at
http://www.members.home.com/mitsu-3000gt.
If you have any questions
please email
me.
Thanks,
Mike

Since the major topic lately has
been Thunderhill the buzz in my house has
been racing. A friend staying with
us has an S2000 (nice car) and he is off

Aug 1st. My wife asked if we could
something like this with my car......Oh
my god I will explode......now

Subject: Team3S:
AVC-R - 60% start duty??
Recently, I rewired my AVC-R to the RPM signal
(white wire off ECM
connector, right?!) since the previous owner had it
hardwired to the
IDC. So, for the first time I'm going through the
learn process.
Here's what I've done:
Set up gear judge and car
select.
Set boost to 1.00 bar, DC to 40%.
NE point 2500-6500
(methinks)
Learn gear on for 2nd - 5th
Feedback 9 7 5 3 3
Start duty
for 1st 50%, all others 0%
Ok, first of all, the boost in 2nd & 3rd
was oscillating, so I set the
feedbacks down to: 9 6 4 2 2. After
turning the car off once, they
seem smooth now.
Then, I was only
getting 10psi of boost. So I had to turn it all the
way up to 60% Duty
to get 14-15psi! What am I doing wrong here?
Also, can I change
settings 'on the fly,' or do you have to change them,
turn the car off, then
restart? (like Windows)
And, won't the controller change the start
duties for each gear by
itself?
Thanks so much!
