<DIV></DIV>
Here is part two of the Indy Midwest Club. I have had numerous responses about
the club and hope to hear from alot more of you really soon! This club is based
out of Indianapolis, Indiana and will pretty much cover all surrounding states
(Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana). If you live in these states join
the club!!! There is going to be NUMEROUS gatherings this year and alot of
events that we will all be able to go to to show off our rides. The next
gathering is scheduled for Saturday, May 12th. This gathering will be in
Greenwood, Indiana (20 minutes south of Indy). We will all be meeting up at a
local park for a BQ and will possibly be having a couple of shops here in town
stop in for a little advertisment and quotes for parts and upgrades. I am also
trying to get something going with the local Mitsu dealership to see if they
want to have a group fix done or something to that nature. This gathering is
going to be a blast and will b!
e a good time to meet some of the
people that you have only heard from in emails!
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>I have also been talking
with a friend of mine about having shirts made up for the club. The options are
going to be polos, tees, sweatshirts.. etc. I am looking into pricing now and I
should have that sent out to everyone soon. Also I am looking into have the
local decal shop do up a design to represent everyone that is in the club.
Something small and original but shows the 3si pride. The webpage is currently
under development now and will probably be one of the free sites until we can
get the numbers higher for the Midwest club and can get a registered name.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>If you have not signed up

I have the Borla with "free flow" cats
all the way thru. Stock downpipe for
the moment as the faulty Alamo DP
had to be returned. It is loud, but not
loud enough to where cops pull
ya over. Honda Civics and Geo Metros with
fart tips are probably
louder.

Oskar,
I do not know how else
makes them but I do not know of any wider-known
name than Autopower.
Just today I was showing it to a fellow-AutoX'er (SM
national champ Kent
Rafferty actually) and he asked if it was an Autopower.
It's name says it
all. Check out I/O Port Racing,
www.ioportracing.com, and
ask for Ken
Myers as he was most helpful in getting me situated with the
order and
install.
Check out the Team3S FAQ page for my install pix of the
rollbar. More
pics on the way and a write-up if I ever get it made
(sorry Forrest). For
those wondering ... I needed a harness bar to use
with the harnesses because
the local PCA group requires it when participating
in their driving schools.
And how can you put in a harness bar easily when a
few hundred more gets a
full SCCA-certified rollbar. It also allowed me
to add a camera mount for
video.

The OEM battery in my 94 VR4 finally died this

Curt Gendron wants me
install a half-size battery (from Walmart), so we'll
have room for the water
injection tank that will be going in one of these
days. I'll probably do that
unless I can find a way to mount a battery in
the back.
My question to
the group is:
Has anyone successfully mounted a battery in the rear? Is there
any short
battery that can fit back there in the plastic trays on either side
of the
spare tire and still fit under the cardboard/carpet cover? Got a
product

I suppose I could mount the battery on
the floor behind the passenger seat,
but that restricts movement of the seat.
Any thoughts, anyone?

Re: Team3S: How to discharge A/C system.
Michael,
You do not need
to disconnect any A/C hoses. Just unbolt it from the fender
and
firewall and you will then be able to lift it out of the way(it is
flexible). I tie it out of the way...usually to the hood. Also, I
completely removed the alternator on the first one that I did, you do not
have to do this just loosen it enough to get out of the way of the engine
mount.
I get the impression from your email that you don't have a
service manual??
If this is true, I would not do the 60K unless you
have it. It has many
necessary torque specs as well as the belt
tensioning procedure.
Good luck,

Chuck,
I went all out and ordered a
set of silicone vacuum hoses from Hose
Techniques,
http://www.hosetechniques.com, and now
my engine is turning out
a bit nicer and I hope the engine is breathing
better too.
The two 180-degree bends are not a problem with the new
silicone hose as it
is more flexible. Some of the stock pieces were
salvaged and put over the
new hose to persuade it to a shape other than
straight.
I have the 60k coming up in 5k so I am doing this as preventive
maintenance
also (and to keep the red theme going on the car). Some of
the hoses I took
off were quite brittle even after a short 5 years.

I'd recommend the Odyssey racing battery over the Optima products
hands-down
for space saving applications. I have the PC925 which is 470
cold cranking
amps. It is 6.5" wide, 7" long, and only 5" high.
Not only that, but the
Optima weighs 38 pounds and the Odyssey (if I remember
correctly) is 26
pounds.
Haven't had any problems with mine, starts
the car every time (even in cold
temps it isn't a problem), enough power to
raise/lower the convertible top
with the motor off,
etc.
$160
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=534&prmenbr=76&path=76%202379%202382%202680
Gel-cell
batteries are still acid inside, so if you hit something hard
enough to break
it open you are still going to get acid strewn about. The
Odyssey is a
dry-cell variant.
Not sure if 5" tall is short enough to fit in the rear
storage bins - I
doubt it. I don't think you'll find many batteries
shorter than 5" tall
though.

When u get
the Odysessy (Predator) battery, be sure to also get a trickle

Optima yellow-top battery.
Wont leak, no acid, and can be run DRY hundreds
of times with no plate
degridation.
Theres some photos of what I have right here:

have the same in the VR4, and my other cars.

Is there a good battery to use for road racing and street
driving? A friend
suggested anything not acid-filled. Something
like a gel cell. Any ideas
on which ones are good and where to get
one?

The OEM battery in my 94 VR4 finally died this winter. It won't hold
a
charge any longer.
Curt Gendron wants me install a half-size battery
(from Walmart), so we'll
have room for the water injection tank that will be
going in one of these
days. I'll probably do that unless I can find a way to
mount a battery in
the back.
My question to the group is:
Has
anyone successfully mounted a battery in the rear? Is there any short
battery
that can fit back there in the plastic trays on either side of the
spare tire
and still fit under the cardboard/carpet cover? Got a product
name and model
number?
I suppose I could mount the battery on the floor behind the
passenger seat,
but that restricts movement of the seat.
Any thoughts,
anyone?

I own a lotta cars. But in the best interests
of not having to continualy
edit this file to meet the needs of eight
specific lists, and no to awaken the
idiots within others who think -thier-
cars are the best and Im a fool for
having anything -but- thier kind of
car..I have not listed them. If Im on
the list you are reading..I have
one.

Haven't had any problems like that with my Odyssey
battery. Starts every
time, even if left sitting for a few weeks even
with alarm on and such.
Maybe your battery is defective, or something on your
car is drawing extra
juice. ???
