Team3S: TIM - ABS and AWS pages available
I am in the process of posting
the entire Stealth Technical
Information Manual on my web site. The Brake and
Steering sections
are available for those that are curious as to what
Mitsubishi has to
say about these. Other sections are available. It probably
will be a
few weeks before the entire TIM is available (about 280
pages).

Team3S: Need advise on helmets
I need to get a helmet for driving schools
but I don't no what is best.
Most of the helmets I am seeing are SA95
approved but SA2000 helmets are
starting to pop up more often, when do you
all think that the SA95
requirement will be phased out? I am looking
at the Bell Sport II, the best
price I have found is $225 for the SA95 and
$284 for the SA2000. I know a
full face is much safer than a open face
and I would defintely feel more
comfortable(safe) with a full face, but are
there any reasons not to get a
full face? What advise can you guys
offer me?
Thanks,
Michael D.

Thanks Jeff you're setting up a hell of
a informative site there --- if
only people would read a little before asking
some basic questions.

I've got a Simpson SA 95 which will probably be
good for another 5+ years
in open track events. Some of the organizations are
starting to phase out the
90's. If I were buying new I'd go with the latest
greatest. Porsche club is
talking about phasing out the 95's --- I think they
just want to keep out the
riff raff.
Short of Dale Ernhardt few folk
wear the open face for racing --- better
visibility is of course the best
reason for a open face, but in a car there
just ain't that much to see. Dale
sez he can feel the air movement better
and therefore kick ass better --- not
issue with the way I drive.

When my
O2 sensor went bad, my check engine light came on. Also, it got bad gas mileage
and lost power. The one you need to replace is in the front of the exhaust after
the manifolds. At the dealers, they were pricier than good ole
carparts.com. Try them...

RE: Team3S: Need advise on helmets
I actually have the exact helmet you
are looking for - Bell Sport II full
face and I bought it from Helmet City,
www.helmetcity.com, and they
were
most kind and even shipped the helmet one day early with no extra charge
(I
needed it that weekend for a track day). As far as rating I agree
that you
should get the latest. I have 95 which is standard for all
schools I've
seen so far.
I love it and a bonus is the Band-Aid smell
from the insulation and fire
retardant stuff on the inside. I actually
don't mind this. It is not a
very helmet for track use (30 minutes on
at a time or so) and provides about
the most eyeport available except for the
much more expensive M2 (or
something like that). I can even wear my
sunglasses inside the helmet
although it is a little tight on the temples but
at least I can see.
It has the shield closable all the way, popped open
about half an inch,
one-third and two-thirds open, then all the way
open. Vent holes don't seem
to do much so I leave them in the open
position all the time.
Also look at a helmet bag and a balaclava.
Bag to keep it from getting
scratched and the balaclava (which is NOT a
pastry item) to keep your head
sweat from smelling up the inside. Next
padding (full circle, horseshoe
shape, etc.) might be good for longer events
or better protection of the
neck. All these can be found at Summit
Racing, Carparts, OG Racing, etc.
and are located on Jeff Lucius' page of

Team3S: Shocks & Struts
Hey gang:
Don't think I've seen this
one asked before, and haven't run across a good
answer on the Net:
I
think my original springs, shocks and struts are in need of replacement.
I
have 84k on my 91 Stealth RT/TT, so the mileage isn't too high, but
then
again, my heavy car has been supported by the same suspension parts for
just
under 10 years!
I just ordered some new Eibach Pro-Kit springs,
but I need to know your
collective thoughts on replacement shocks and
struts. I would like to keep
the ECS, so I don't know what options I
have. I would also like to keep the
cost reasonable. I drive the
car only on Michigan (pothole-infested)
roads -- I don't road race or drag
race. The car is mildly tweaked (manual
bleeder valve) but otherwise
stock.
What would you recommend for replacements? OEM, or
aftermarket? How much
am I looking at spending? My experience
with these cars has been that OEM
parts are usually as expensive as
aftermarket/upgrade parts, so you might as
well go for the upgrades.
The only thing I have found so far was GAB shocks
on the Dynamic Racing
website (which I *think* work with ECS) for $999.
That's more than double
what I was hoping to spend, but again, I have no
idea what these things
cost.
Thanks,
Roger Roskam
