OBD-II Diagnostic Computer availability-
Hello group-
As of late
there has been much discussion of datalogging and tracing the
information
coupled in the factory diagnostics of the 94+ 3/S cars. I, like
many
of you, are at a loss in the means of capable tuning with the means
available to the later year models.
Talk has been generated of
reverse engineering the software from the scan
tool. As of yet, no one
has stepped up to locate one.
Well, by what was quite a stroke of luck, I
have located a MUT-II diagnostic
computer for sale on Ebay. While this
may not be the most reliabile of
sources of reciept of such a tool, I'm
quite willing to take a chance on it.
I've contacted the seller
reguarding his reserve price, and I have placed a
nominal bid in an attempt
to show true interest. The reserve isn't broken,
but at this point,
depending on what he's asking, if I can't justify it by
myself, I would
think that a collection of those interested in such a project
coming to
frutition would be able to front what may possibly be one heck of a
small
investment for the gain of all.
Either way, I would have no problem
donating the unit for the greater cause,
and those most interested in
working on this project can and should have open
use to it to figure out
just what it is that we can gain from that little
gray jack under the
steering wheel.
Anyways, I might be a tad nuts. If you think so,
please let me know. Any
way that it can be looked at however, we're
gonna have a new toy to play with.
Back to the business at
hand-
Kenneth

I have serious rotor damage..ive lost the vanes on one rotor
completely
now, and almost the vanes on the other front rotor.
WHY
in only 800 miles is this happening?
Calipers dont stick (old brakes were
fine, and now that theyve been back
on..theyre still fine), and I dont

Team3S: OT: Lotec
Today I visited Lotec (
http://www.lotec-gmbh.de), a world-renowned
performance shop that happens to be ten minutes from my house here in
southern Germany. I spent about 45 minutes speaking with the owner and
mastermind (and ex-FIA race champion) Kurt Lotterschmid, a wonderfully
friendly guy willing to share his EXTENSIVE knowledge on anything even
remotely related to automobiles and driving.
We spent most of the
time reviewing his latest project car, the Sirius.
It was completely
designed and built in the Lotec facility over the past
several years and is
nearly complete. It's awesome... check out the web
site! We then
spoke for a few minutes about our cars (which, in Stealth
form, is quite a
curiosity in Europe, where it was never officially
imported), specifically
issues concerning generating more reliable power
(EGTs, fuel delivery,
detonation, etc.).
The best part is that Herr Lotterschmid will work on
any car, performing
anything from simple maintenance to radical upgrades and
restorations
(it is common to see a Diablo in one bay and a camper in the
next!).
Unfortunately, he did not express interest in pushing my Stealth's
performance envelope, since he has no experience with this particular
vehicle and would of course have to charge me to build up the knowledge
base necessary to make effective modifications. But looking at the
quality of his work and the parts he had fabricated for his various
projects, I think he will be an excellent resource.
Anyway, sorry for
the off-topic post, but I wanted to mention the great
experience and give
his shop a plug for any of you with a spare million
or two to invest in a
true exotic!
- -Jim, still waiting for that reliable and reasonable
upgrade path...
please contact me if you have been pushing 500+ hp in your
daily driver
for 10k+ miles!

Alarm system FIX
Hello everyone
Hope this helps if anyone is
having intermittent problems with their
alarm system. I found this out on my
car, and then tried it on one of
the other cars in my group (Jason =) and it
worked! Here goes!
If your alarm intermittently works, goes off
randomly, and especially if
your dome light works intermittently, the fix is
sooo easy -
Open each door, and in the lower rear part of the body, there
is the
sensor that tells the car the door is open/closed. It is just
under a
little rubber cover that slides right off. This switch doesn't
seem to
ground well sometimes. Pull it out (phillips screw), scrape up
the
contacts on it a little bit, and put it back in being sure to snug
up
the screw tight - this is the ground! Clean up any dirt, rust, etc
too
- - that's real important.
Do it to both doors, then try the alarm
again - bet it will work!
Give me feedback if you find this
works/doesn't!
Thanks!

Transmission Problem
Hi Guys, I have a problem with my
transmission. I have a
95 GT-SL with automatic trans. The car has
83,000 miles on
it. When I try to pass a car on the highway, the car
feels
like it slips into netrual, the tach revs, then when I let
off the
gas a bit, it catches again. Also when Im driving
around town, it feels like
Im driving a stick shift in
second gear. The trans acts like its braking or
slowing me
down. Its not making any noises, or clunking when I put it
into
gear. Any help would be great. I just bought the car a
few weeks ago, so its
still under guarantee.
Thanks Jim, Missouri

Umm, just take it in and have it fixed? If its under
warranty then you
don't really need help, just take it in.
Sounds like
maybe a bad overdrive clutch pack or something. Could also just
be bad
tranny fluid.

95-99 VR4 chrome rim needed
Hello Everybody,
I need a new chrome
rim for my 95 VR4 (18" x 8.5" ; part no. MR197761). I
think the 18"
chrome rims on the VR4's were the same from 95-99, because I
saw a new 99 VR4
and it had the exact rims I have. If any of you have
upgraded your rims
and have a spare stock one laying around in good shape,
please let me
know. I use this car as daily drive, so baisically I can't
stay too
long without it.
What hapened:
On my way home from school I had to
make a left hand turn at one point off
one major street to another (2 lanes
for one way traffic, 2 lanes for the
other way traffic and 1 turning lane for
each street). I was the first car
in line waiting at a blinking red
light for the oncoming traffic to clear.
I saw an open window and decided to
go, however, one of the incomming cars
that I thought was going to make a
right hand turn (he was signaling and
slowing down at the same time) changed
his mind and started accelerating and
came forward instead of right. I
had already started going by this point,
so there was no turning back
now. I couldn't hit the brakes because that
would've stopped me in the
middle of the intersection and side collisions
are no fun. So I decided
to step on it until I cleared the guy and then
break to slow me down a bit
for the turn. Instead of trying to get in the
fast (left hand lane), I
tried to get in the slow (right lane). Basically I
tried to go behind
the guy. Let me mention that the road was slightly wet
(not much, it
did not look wet, but I know it was a bit wet because it was
that kind of
weather...cold too). The cold weather and slightly wet ground
made me
slip all the wheels in the turn a bit and of course also affected
the
breaking and turning. So, I clipped the curb with my front
passenger
wheel by a few inches. Good thing nothing worst
happened. I am always so
careful when I drive...I pay attention to
myself and try to keep track of
everyone else on the road and cops too at the
same time. This time my
devotion was solely on the road (I was starting
from a redlight) and no
attention was given to those extra things such as
cops or gauges. I really
thought I could make that turn, but I guess I
had about an 8" misjudgement
on my part (enough to jump the curb and bend the
lip of the rim).
So now I'm waitiong a day to doublecheck and see how I
need to aproach this.
There is no accident report of any kind so I have all
the options available.
I can pick up the bill and not mention anything to
anybody. I can report it
to my insurance agency, if and only if they
are not going to raise my
coverage (I have full coverage with $100 deductible
for comprehensive).
Or I can tell the city that I hit a pothole (one day I
did hit a huge one on
the highway and I thought I broke the car in two--so I
won't feel any
remorse if they pick up the bill for this). I also want
to take the car to
my favorite allignment shop to make sure it is still
straight and that
nothing else got bent/broken. If everything checks
out OK, then it will
only cost me $50, but if anything is broken...well, it
remains to be seen.
I know some of you/spouses are in the insurance
business, so I don't mind
listening to how you think my insurance company
would treat this situation.
Also, what story should I tell my agency...the
one I told you guys (how it
happened) or should I modify it a bit to suit my
needs? Why else am I
paying $1260 per year ($100 comprehensive
deductible, $250 collision
deductible).
Thanks for listening you
guys.
