Team3S: Radio Din size
List,
I am looking to remove my
stock radio from my 93 3000GT VR4. I want to
put a single din radio in
the slot and probably just use a kit from Wal-Mart
to make the installation
look a lttle better. My question is that I seen
that Blitz makes a DIN size
panel that holds a 42mm guage and two 1/4 din
controllers. Has anyone else
ever used this or had experience with it. I am
looking to put a boost
controller and turbo timer in those spots and I am
just curious. Thanks for
the help! Anyone got pictures of there
installation?

Hi Rick,
It's not a FAQ or directly
about flushing but you might find my web
page interesting.

Redline?
List,
I am looking to flush out my diff, tranny,
and gearbox this month
with a aftermarket fluid. In the past, in previous
vehicals, I have
used Royal Purple synthetic or Redline. I am not familiar
with these
cars and would like to get an opinion from everyone on
past
experience, etc. Thanks for all the info!
Is there a FAQ
or instruction for flushing fluids from these
pieces?

aa2345@wayne.eduSubject: Team3S: TMO
Datalogger for 2nd gen?
Hello Everybody,
I noticed that there
isn't a TMO Datalogger for the 2nd gen cars. I
really do not understand
why. Has anyone tried to make the software work
with the signal from
the plug between the steering wheel and the radio?
My brother John is a
computer programmer and is currently doing his
masters in Computer Science
(High Speed Networking), so he knows his stuff
pretty good. He was
thinking of making a program to accept the signals to
a serial port and then
to reccord everything that comes in. All we would
probably need is some
conversion tables between the different VOLTAGES and
SPEED, BOOST, INJECTOR,
O2, RPM, etc...
However, before venturing out and designing something
from scratch, I was
thinking that he could use the TMO DATALOGGER software as
a starting
point. Who knows, maybe he can decompile it and he doesn't
have to design
an entirely new program.
This is an old problem,
that as far as I know, nobody solved for the 2nd
gen cars. If someone
did it, please let me know. Whoever broke any
ground on this issue,
please let me and the list know, and maybe together
we can figure something
out for the benefit of all.
Can anybody give me the TMO software?
If you are worried about
copyrights, e-mail me privately, and if you put it
up at an address
disclosed only to me/a few select people, then maybe we can
work it out
that way (provided it is a manageable size). My brother has
a high speed
internet connection as long as you can upload it
somewhere.
Thanks a million, and maybe we can solve this issue.

Subject: Team3S: TMO
Datalogger on 94-95, OBDI/II???
Hello Team,
As some of you already
know, Ken Middaugh and Jeff (Spyder VR4) are
currently working on getting the
TMO DATALOGGER software to work with the
2nd gen cars.
I was wondering
if any of you guys know of anywhere where I can obtain some
tables of
conversion factors between the VOLTAGE VARIANCE on each wire (eg.
going
into/out of the ECU) and a readable and meaningful signal for us such
as
SPEED, RPM, BOOST etc... There must be such a table that is
probably
standard across the board, because APEXI was able to make our AVC-R
boost
controllers read all those signals and give them a numerical value that
is
meaningful to us. It's true that there were a few settings to
program the
unit (6 cylinders, throttle position...) but it seems like there
should be a
standard conversion table for all V6 Japanese engines.
If
we had a table like this, my brother, John, could probably make a
different
program for our 2nd gen cars (that would take the signal from the
OBDII
connector, pass it through a serial port, convert the voltages to
meaningful
signals, and reccord them allong with a time signature).
But maybe he can
disect/decompile the DATALOGGER program, if anybody has it
and is willing to
give it to him. He has an FTP account that he is going to
change the
password temporarily to allow people to FTP the program to him if
they wish
to do so. If you have any software that you think might be useful
to us
and you have the means of FTP'ing, please let me or John know.
Ken
Middaugh brought it to my attention that there are 3 protocols in
use:
>
>'91-'93 DRB II, the TMO works with this
>'94-'95 Some
hybrid protocol, but uses an OBD II connector
>late '95+ OBD II, there are
numerous tools, but none have Knock Sum
readings like the TMO
>
I do
not know which program my brother will be able to use best, but if he
has all
3, then he can make his own judgement call.
Thanks to all that are as
eager to solve this as I am.

Team3S: Tour Light On Now:Does This Affect Suspension?
Hello guys,
It
has been a while since I wrote/followed the list so I apologize if
this was
covered recently. I have a '94 3000gt SL and the sport
mode
light has always come on when I hit the ECS switch.
The
ride was noticeably "stiffer" and "bouncier" on these Houston
ratty
roads. But, when I turn the ECS switch to non-sport mode or
tour
mode, the green "tour" light in the lower left corner of the dash
has NEVER
come on. Well, today (after having the car for
25,000 miles) I
noticed it stayed on (with or without headlights on).
Apparently it is
supposed to stay on normally, I didn't even know
there was such a
light. My question is, did this affect the driving
in tour mode
when the tour light was not on? I.E. it "seems" to be
a more pleasent
ride, i.e. maybe a bit better handling and takes
the bumps
smoother. Is this just my imagination? Do I
assume
I have a loose bulb on the tour end (wouldn't it be the same
bulb
as the sport mode which always works in that mode?) or is
there
really something wrong with the suspension? The Mitsu
dealer
that checked out the suspension about a year ago said
everything
was working fine but he never noticed nor mentioned a
tour
light. Thanks ahead of time for all comments (I have the
Digest
version). Bob
