The biggest you can get
for your car are 245/50/R16's. I have them on my
94R/T and I love
them. With the extra width, you are gaining a little more
stability
but you are decreasing your wet driving capabilities. The added
width
tend to hydoplane easier. Also, I dont know if you live in an area
where winter is a factor, but I can tell you that if you plan to drive it in
the snow, wider tires will suck badly! I dont drive my car in the
winter (I
live in upstate NY) so I dont have to worry about it. All in
all though,
wider tires will yield better handling if driven in the right
conditions.
Dont expect to do 90mph in the pooring rain or snow
though! Drive
responcibly and you will love
them!

Hey, Marc,
Like James said-- as great
as wide tires are on smooth, dry roads, they
*will* make you hydroplane more
often..., in even moderate rain.
They're probably not the best choice for
your Chicago winters. Even in
dry weather, they'll "track" the cracks
in the highway at standard
inflation. But if you pump them up an extra
10 lbs or so, the extra
inflation rounds the contact profile and gives you
less tracking and
hydroplaning. You'll get great handling at the
expense of slightly
accelerated tire wear -- it's a fair trade-off,
IMO... I've got
225x55R16s on my '94 Stealth, and I run them at 43F/37R
around town.
They're fine in even wet weather (as little as we have here in
CA), but
in the "rainy season", I add 3 more pounds, to 46F/40R. That's
the
setting I use for high-speed driving too. If you *do* choose
an
all-weather wide performance tire, I suggest you experiment with
similar
inflations. (If you drive over 60 regularly, even Mitsubishi
recommends
+7 lbs in front and +4 in the rear).
But if your 3kSL is a
daily driver, with rainy/snowy weather coming, you
might want to think about
a tire specifically for winter use. There's
an excellent primer on
winter driving on the TireRack site, although for
obvious reasons, I debate
their recommendation of Bridgestone
(Firestone) Blizzak winter tires.
Still, there's some great info there
that should help you make the right
decision for your situation. It's
at:

Forrest

Team3S: need front door speaker
Today I realized that my front left door
speaker is blown (rattling). Does
anyone happen to have one they'd be
willing to sell? Otherwise, what's a good
replacement? Since the
tweeters are on the dash, I assume that I need a
midrange component driver
vs. a full-range speaker. I don't mind replacing both
door speakers if
it proves too hard to get an exact match for the remaining good
one, but I
want to end up with something comparable. No, I don't intend to
upgrade
the entire system! TIA... -Jim

Team3S: no spark please help
For the last 3 or 4 days my car has been
hard to start. Meaning I would have
to crank it over 3 or 4 different times.
Well finally it just wouldn't
start. I am kinda stumped on what the problem
could be. I am geting no
spark. I know it is not the crank angle sensor
cause I replaced it a few
months ago and I just installed a new ingition
module and it still wont
work. What else could be the problem. I would
really apreciate any replies.
Thanks in advance!

I had both front speakers taken out
of my '92 base stealth. I am not sure if
it is the same kind you have and if
you make sure they are, than we can
arrange
something.

Re: Team3S: no spark please help
Dumb question, how do you know you are
getting no spark ?
There are two parts of the ignition, the ignition
module and the power
transistors. Often the main problem is that the
contacts i nthe wiring
harness to the coil pack is dirty and not making good
contact. Clean all of
them with an electrical
cleaner.
