Meguiars has a three bottle system, of which I use #'s 1 and 2 with
very good results. #1 is a cleaner and #2 is a polish. They're in a
burgundy colored bottle. You probably want to go with the cleaner if
you're getting rain spots.

I wax with #26 high-tech yellow wax.

It will fit.  It might be something CARB related, or like previously stated
it could be an old printing.  AFAIK Extreme primarily caters to the DSM
crowd.  Maybe therefore the misinformation.  The best online 3/S vendor of
all times, Chien owner of Nexus Motorsports, have unfortunately withdrawn
from the mail order parts business.  For future reference I think you will
have luck with Mike at Altered Atmosphere, or Accelerated Accessories.

I have the Goodridge too which work well. I was told by Steve at
Ultimate Garage that they may have to be replaced with Porsche ones to
upgrade brake systems to the 993. Something to consider if you go this
route.

I have been using the Mother's 3-step system and also like it.  They have
"Showtime" which is the "touch-up once you get to the track" step.

Mother's does not have as good of a scratch removal system like the 3M
(three step) or Meguiar's (three step) has so take your pick but they all
have a cleaner, sealer, and wax.  I like these because they are a thick
liquid wax instead of paste.

Also note that the 3M has a step for dark-colored cars (the wax for removing
or filling scratches is dark in color).  Sorry to those with Pearl White or
Red cars.  :-)

Darren, Bart et al:

As with anything, you will have much better luck if you plan ahead.  A
couple days before you're going to remove the air box, hit those bolts
with some Liquid Wrench.  Again the day before.  Then take your time
trying to break them free on the day of removal.  I can't guarantee this
will work, but it has for me.

Best,

Scott

If they do spin, simply cut off the two plastic strips used to "anchor"
the flat bolt head inside the air box, then grasp the long edge of
the bolt head with a vice-grip and snap loose the nut.  Should take
about 5 minutes not 2 hours, unless you try in vain to grip the bolt
heads in the narrow area between the plastic "anchors".

   -JD

BTW, was anyone else appalled at just how stupid that design was?  A
regular bolt/washer combination would have work better and been a
hell of alot cheaper than designing a custom head bolt and specially
molded anchor within the airbox.  Sometime times I wonder just what
car engineers are smoking.

Mind you the two hours was when the box was off the car and the Dremmel tool
was used (with cheap discs I found out which snapped instead of grinding
metal).  This was used to cut through the nut holding the bolt on so the
nifty bolt now has a slit down the threaded portion of it.

I agree that the design is stupid and replacing them with normal bolt-nut
combos will reattach the box if needed (in AutoX the FIPK bumps me into the
ASP class whereas the stock box keeps me in the AS class).

Hi Rich,

I also have the Goodridge.  When I changed to the BIG
REDS the guys at Goodridge just made up the lower
hose.  The upper Goodridge doesn't have to be changed.

Be of good cheer,
John

Nikos,

Well, I've been seriously considering converting my car up to the 6-speed, so
would need to put the newer differential in my '91 TT.  So, when are you
looking for this?  If right away, I prolly can't help, but otherwise we might
be able to figure something out.  Let me know what you think!

From: "George Shaw" <george.shaw@btinternet.com>
Subject: Team3S: Remote Start & Hood Lock

Hi to all that have shown interest in locking down the hood and trunk. So as
not to clutter up the list, I will compile an interested parties list by
email and post a digest version answering all the questions in one posting.
If anyone else is interested in the details please email me direct. I can
offer a discount for any list members interested in purchasing. (I am also
looking for a USA/Canada distrubutor)

The lock is built in England by a friends company CarSafe Ltd
(www.carsafe.co.uk) and fits near any car or van on the road. I have
fabricated the required brackets for the 3KGT/GTO/STEALTH. It works by
physically separating the manual cable release from the actual release
mechanism. It is in a permanent locked position and only releases when the
immobiliser is activated via the key or via any electronic alarm device you
choose dependant on level of security you require. When the electronic are
"Live" the hood or trunk can be opened as normal, if the battery runs flat
you can "jump" via the cigarette lighter socket with as low as 2V

q. Do you have any pictures or diagrams?

a. Yes see attached (I will have details on my web site as soon as I get rid
of this bout  of flu). (http://www.airlarm.com sould be active by Sunday)
q. I know the hood and trunk have a signal to sound the alarm if after
locking it is forced open.  Can you tell me where these are?
a. The UK spec has a "pin switch" on the drivers side (RHD) mounted on a
bracket, it has a square convoluted rubber cover which also controls the
hood light, the trunk uses the trunk light switch.
q. Does the thief really need to gain access to the engine compartment to
steal the car?
a. YES in most every case, (don't believe what you see in the movies. Alarms
can be bypassed, fuses/relays bridged, starters fired (6" spanner 2
secs)even batteries removed (black-market value on a good battery about
$10-30)Some but very few cars or vans can be started via the ignition switch
being taken to earth (chassis) but more modern cars don't allow this.
