Subject: Team3S: RE: Radar Detector/Jammer Concealed Unit?

Hello Team,

I sent a similar message to Barry E. King, so if you see this again, bear
with me.

Does anybody know of any radar/laser jammer/detector concealed setup?  I
wish there was a concealed jammer and detector system for both radar and
laser like Barry King's K40 in the front and rear bumper.  I would also
prefer to know here the signal is coming from (like the arrows in the
Valentine 1: front, rear, sides, and of course the number of bogies).

I really want the best jammer system for my next car.  I want to buy a
newer (with less mileage) TT or VR4.  I want something that will work,
maybe have all the features I listed on the above wish list, and hopefully
not put a dent in my pocket either.  I know I'm hoping too much, but if
I'm going to spend the money, at least I want it to do all I ask.  Do you
know of any such setup other than the following:

#1) K40 and a Valentine 1 (taken apart to conceal it)? (Total price
~1,400)

#2) 2 Phantom Units (taken apart and mounted one in front and one in back)
and a Valentine 1 (taken apart to conceal it)? (Total price ~$1,000)

Both my brother and myself have Rocky Mountain Phantom Radar
Jammer/Detector and Laser Jammer ($300 each).  I believe it is a passive
device.  For the past 2+ years it has worked great in the 2 stealths my
brother and I own.  The problem is that they are only front protection,
they are not concealed units, and the do not give warning to laser (only
jamming).  These detectors saved our buts on a handful of occasions.  We
speed all the time.  I cruise at 90 mph on my daily commute and 100-120
mph on long trips.  Every once in a while when we get the straight-aways
we punch it to top speed.

I'm not sure if both my brother and I have flawless driving records
because of always being alert (looking ahead/behind, spotting cop cars in
traffic, on exit ramps, under bridges, in the median, in parking lots, on
turnarounds, etc) or because of the jammer.  But, on a few occasions I
surprised myself and came up within 100 meters or so of police cars pulled
over ahead in the shade or concealed somehow and I was doing more than the
speed limit to such an extent that I would press the break (not too
excessively) and by the time I would pass by the cop, I would still be
doing more than the speed limit, then release the break so he doesn't see
my break lights.  On most of these occasions my Phantom would not beep.
Often, when police just sit on the side of the road, they use laser.  My
Phantom does not make any sounds at lasers (darn it).  It just jams them
up to 100 feet, but anything less than that, I'm dead.

If anybody wants info on how to get the Rocky Mountain Phantom, feel free
to email me privately.

If you find any bad links...please let me know

I have also order some used plenums and valve covers for polishing. This way
I will have polished parts 'on the shelf' for shipping and you won't have to
wait to get your parts polished......more info to follow...

I have also changed my email address from jefyoung@ix.netcom.com to

Problem:

 1. Driver window stopped working. Found the prolbem to
be broken plastic cable pulley widget. The motor works
fine but looks like the pulley is an integral part of
motor, sort of like permanent part of the motor assembly.
Beats me why use plastic for such a high stress part.

Before I start shelling out big bucks, anyone tried to
     fix the pulley-cable-anchor-that-pull-glass-up thing?

 2. Power antenae went south on the same week and makes
grinding noise when goes up or down, like a ground off
gear rubbing. Motor will stop in about 30 seconds but
feels like eternalty. I am sure there is cheap plastic
thingamajig in there that broke also.

Do I have to replace the whole pwr-antenae assembly?

All those cheap plastic widgets holding the car together
and still comes in over-weight, sigh.

Thanks for any help. Email me if you prefer.

For item 2. see my step-by-step instructions at
http://www.3si.org/member-home/nlucius/n-2-antenna.htm
More than likely only the cable needs to be replaced but you will
probably have to remove the motor and remove the broken off piece of
cable from it. Compare the lengths of the old cable (after removed)
and the new cable.

I'm not sure about the power window problem but you can buy a new power
antenna from Cructhfield for about $60. I put one in my Maxima and my Stealth
and they work great. It costs about $250 for a dealer to do it, parts and
labor.

There phone number is 1-888-955-6000

Here is the url for the part:

Subject: Team3S: Air Fuel Monitor

I purchased an air fuel/ injector% monitor and I could use some install help.
I looked at my manual and it designates ECU pin numbers that have no wires
(actual on car) in them for my O2 sensor on my 94 VR4. Can someone tell me
what pin numbers to connect it to the O2 sensor?
Wiring instructions are as follows:

Red wire- +12v ignition switched and fused.

Black wire- ground to a GOOD power goound bad grounds can produce false
readings.

Green wire- connect to the signal of either of the O2 sensors

White wire- connect to the fuel injector control wire (that goes to the ecu)

I really would like to know the best possible places to connect all the
connections above, any help would be greatly appreciated. Also when
connecting my Apex SAFC all the pin numbers were correct from the manual I do
not understand why the oxygen sonsors are incorrectly labeled? Help!

Hi Mike,

What no Mitsu manual? Shame, shame.

I uploaded 2 figures to the 3si picture archive:
http://www.3si.org/upload/94-95-o2-ecu.jpg
http://www.3si.org/upload/94-95-ecu-grnd.jpg

For 1994-95 ECU:
Use ECU pin #12 for 12V+
Use ECU pin #26 or #92 for ground (O2 uses #92)
Use ECU pin #75 for left (rear) O2
Use ECU pin #76 for right (front) O2

Of course be sure battery neg term is disconnected and ground
yourself first.

This is what I have in my Saved-Msg file:

OEM wheels on turbo cars, 91-94, were 17" x 8.5", 46 mm offset, and mounted
245/45R17 tires.
95+, the wheels are 18" x 8.5", 46mm offset, mounting 245/40R18 tires.

A true (active) jammer would probably be illegal everywhere since it
interferes with policemen doing their job.  I'm not sure if the so called
passive jammers are illegal since they don't actually do anything except
make some marketing person rich.  They might be illegal in the fact that
someone is selling a product that doesn't do what it is advertised to do.
 ;-)

MH>     Is the Valentine1 a Jammer and detector/locator?

The Valentine 1 does not have a jammer built in.

MH>    Is the Valetine1 illegal in any states?

All radar detectors are illegal in Virginia and Washington, DC.

It mounts on the dash or on the windshield where it can get a clear view
out the front and rear windows.  They do have a remote indicator option
that allows you to hide the flashing red lights from passing policemen and
from tailgaters trying to use YOUR radar detector because they're too cheap
to buy their own.
