The oil-pressure sensor and the low-oil-level
sensor next to it (and
their wires) are both located on the opposite side of
the engine from
the oil filter.

I figured there had to be something that I
accidently knocked
loose when I either changed the oil, or when I tightened
the filter.
I probably finished knocking the sensor loose when I was trying
to
wipe the excess oil from the filter after I tightened it. That
would
explain why it totally stopped working
afterwards.

LOL!
I have a friend that runs 12.6s in his FWD(!) talon (yes
I've watched).
His (and most dsm-ers) version of "carfully crushing and
measuring" was
whack it with a sledge hammer <BG>
You can't
argue with a FWD that runs mid 12s :)

Yeah, but at that point you might at well put a blockoff plate
over the
whole thing and pull out the BOV. You just don't know what
pressure
differential is required to open the valve anymore... It might
be totally
closed with 10 psi still in the system, trying to back-spin the
turbo.
You can certainly do that (randomly crush a BOV), but I usually
encourage
people to do it "the right way" if at all possible.

Well, I think
my message got buried on the starnet list - they seem to be
having a huge

discovered there are
O2 simulators available for domestic cars (see

Has anyone tried these on

Custom Dual Turbo-Back Exhaust - Glass Packs?
Hi. I'm looking to acquire
dual turbo back exhaust - 2.25 from each
turbo/gutted cat to some kind of
muffling device on each side (glass packs,
resonators, or mufflers).
The guys at the muffler shop had differing
opinions about how loud glass
packs would be. Has anyone tried this before?
I wouldn't mind if it was
quite a bit louder - like a big v8 (low ominous
kind of roar), but I
definitely don't want it to sound like a Hon-duh
(riding lawn mower with 5in
tips). The shop didn't have any high-flow
mufflers that would fit on
the passenger side - how do the pre-fabricated
exhausts fit around the gas
tank?
Also, Does anyone have some information about the Bozz Speed Dual
Cannon
Exhaust? I've seen a few pictures of the exhaust from the rear,
but none
showing any of the piping underneath. Does it have only 2
resonators (glass
packs?) on each side, or are there mufflers
somewhere? Does anyone have
pictures of the system - especially the
passenger side?
One more thing. Are there any fake O2 sensors
available for our cars? How
often does the check engine light turn on
with gutted pre-cats?
Thanks,

To the best of my knowlege, the
suspension arms and such for all VR4's are
identical. There might be
minor differences on RT/TT's that aren't equipped
with AWS as compared to the
VR4 but only on the rear trailing arm links. I
actually doubt they are
physically different than the AWS-equipped cars, but
it is a possibility that
they could be slightly different. There weren't
really any suspension
changes amongst the years beyond that (like how the
DSM cars changed the
whole suspension setup in '95), so things should be
pretty close from car to
car.
FWD 3/S cars should be able to use the front bushing set, but would
use
different rear bushings than AWD cars as the rear suspension
is
significantly different between AWD and FWD. FWD's may have
different
diameter swaybars, but I don't know either way for a fact.

Team3S: Mueller Clutch/Flywheel install
(see mod list
below)
Alright,
I've had the clutch in the car for about a week now
and she's
been to the track, so here's what she's done. I took it to
the track
the first day I got it and the clutch wasn't broken in yet, so I
had
a lot of difficulty finding the right way to launch it. I got
close,
but couldn't top my previous track launches (1.895 is my current
best
:( ). I wasn't shifting right but when I compared against
my
previous runs it looks like the flywheel gained me about .1 sec.
Not
too much there, but a little better. My current best is 13.61 and
I honestly belive that with current mod set I can get that down to
13.99
ish. The clutch definitely slips nicely.
I am able to spin all 4 at the
track quite freely (6500+
launches), but I tried on the road the other day
(from 7k) and my
engine nearly stalled and a black puff of smoke spewed out
my
exhaust... anyone know what that was all about?
Anyway, back to the
clutch. It engages pretty nicely. It's
a little tricky since once
it grips, it DON'T let go. The light
weight flywheel means you need to
pull out (even calmly) at about 1k
rpm higher than you normally would.
That's kind of anoying.
Overall I would say it's a very good clutch, but
not worth the $$$ for
me since I don't have enough HP to make it
worthwhile. Hopefully it
will be in the future, but not right
now. :( I would have preferred
to have gotten the RPS 6 puck with
stock flywheel, but I'm not
complaining about this clutch either. It
definitely seems like it
will hold much HP and make it a very predictable
launch.

Did you load test the alternator when you replaced the
battery? Most places
will do it for no charge. Sometimes a faulty
starter can also cause
problems that are blamed on the battery. Doesn't
sound like a starter
problem, but the point is a quick electrical system test
can tell you a lot.

Nice to have another choice to source parts from, but I'm a little
unclear
what benefit there is in having yet another middleman between
the
manufacturer and the end-user. How do their prices and service
compare
versus dealing direct with the vendors that they listed?

Subject: Team3S: Car
weight
Hi
I have had my car on professional car scales, the one
they use to tune the
suspension on race cars.
Car: 1993 VR4 US
spec.
The only modifications that alters weight are: battery moved to the
trunk
(rear passenger side), a full ATR exhaust system and 18" Antera
wheels.
All weight includes the driver (65 kg) in the driver seat and 20
kg of gas
in the tank.
Total weight 1710 kg (-65) (1 kg=2,2
lbs)
Front: 940 kg
Rear: 770 kg
Driver side: 870 kg
Passenger
side: 840 kg
Not as heavy as I though...
Since then I have done
some weight saving mods.
Both front seats have been replace with
carbon/kevlar fiber race seats. -40
kg!
Spare tire -15 kg
Rear seat -15
kg
Misc parts in the trunk -10 kg
Some parts under the hood that I didn't
need (EGR etc) -20 kg
Active aero stuff, haven't weighted but my guess is -20
kg
So we are now down to 1525 kg total weight (without
driver)!!!
Just for fun I used a drag race calculator to find how much
these weight
savings would alter the ET. Given a hp of 500 and a weight of
3762 lbs the
calculator say 11.41 in the quarter. If I do the same
calculation with 3498
lbs I end up with a 11.14 time!!! (almost the
same difference NOS did for
Jack T, right Jack?)
If I calculate the HP
given 3498 lbs and a 11.14 quarter I need 500 HP, to
make the same time 3762
lbs I need to have 538 HP.
These small weight saving equals 38 HP !!!!
And this mod will actually take
stress away from your dear transmission. If
you want to go "full race"
there's allot more stuff that you can remove. (AC
is probably around 100 kg)
Don't forget to get shorter springs, your car
will look like a SUV after
this diet :)
Regards,
Mikael
Kenson

Yeah, I would defenitely have to agree with Rich on that one. The
Turbo AWD
