When my antenna stopped working, I didn't know about the mast replacement at
first.  So I removed the motor unit and dissassembled it.  I found a pretty long
piece of the plastic rack and lots of grease inside.  I'm sure you will find the
extra length of plastic is keeping the new antenna from fully retracting.  If you
can remove the broken piece and put all the plastic gears back together properly,
it will work fine :)

Subject: Team3S: Turbo VS NA block cores

Is there any difference between turbo and NA block cores?  I know the compression ratio is different but I plan on replacing crank, rods and pistons?

I am still looking for a 4-bolt block core because Yellow Freight damaged the block when shipping my new turbo shortblock.  I am hoping to get Yellow to cut a check soon, but despite having a claims adjuster examine the damage, Yellow did not tell me that I still needed to file a claim so nothing has been  processed!

The shortblock that I have has new crank, rods and pistons in it but the block is cracked, which is why I am looking for just a core,  If I can not find a core I will buy a new shortblock and the cank, rods and pistons will be for sale ($1600 from Mitsubishi, I would consider reasonable offers).

I sent the following message to Brad in April ---- Porterfield rotors are used by
quite a few on the list and are respected by most, if not all.
I have no desire to use the cross-drilled even if the cracking issue is resolved.
As to size, Porterfield  said they can make anything you want !!!!!!!

Brad

I was over by Porterfield Enterprises so I stopped in and got some additional
info about the two piece rotors --- they are basically custom two piece rotors.
The hat section is defined by the stock rotor and the rest is defined by the
user [ including 1.25" thickness ].

I'd like to see if we could get a group purchase going ---- If we offer both the
1.18" and the 1.25" with the same hat we should be able to get 10 or more to
sign up. We didn't talk about any volume price.

Estimated price was $300 or so  for the hat [ I didn't ask about anodizing ]
and $110 for the 1.25" rotors.

Plus cryo is an additional $40.

I know on the DSM's, this same piece shows it's ugly stainless steel
side really soon, just in patchy places. There were many remedies,
from black undercoating (as you will see, it's probably not painted,
it's rubber coated), to black vinyl tape or electrical tape stretched
over the offending eyesore.

Although the electrical tape LOOKED better than the patchy
metal/rubber mess, it's still not perfect. So guess what someone did?
They priced this part out from the dealer, and replaced it... all for
less than $30!

AA,

You will have to remove the motor and take out the piece broken off
your now shorter old cable. I have step-by-step instructions at the
url below. The black goop is lubricant that was on the old cable.

Subject: Team3S: Power Antenna

Hello list members:

A few days ago I noticed that my power antenna got stuck on it's way
down. I took a look at the antenna, and I noticed a lot of dark black
liquid (possibly some kind of greese) around the joints of the
antenna - there was quite a thick layer which seemed to have formed
in less than a couple of hours.

I pulled out the antenna and it I could tell that a couple of the
joints were too sticky for the antenna motor to push. I tried some
standard lubricants on the antenna (like WD-40) but it didn't help so
I bought a new antenna.

I put the new antenna in and it seemed to work fine a few of times
but then it stopped going down all the way - it just stops after it
gets about 90% of the way down. I noticed that the black greese-like
substance had rubbed off on the plastic rack (the part the motor
pulls on) of the new antenna as well - but it didn't spread anywhere
on the antenna.

One thing that I found odd is that the plastic rack on the new
antenna is a lot longer than the one on the old antenna. I thought
that maybe a peice broke off of the old antenna and fell in the
motor, but the motor doesn't seem to be giving me any problems so
that doesn't seem likely. Plus that doesn't explain why that black
greese appeared on the joints of the old antenna so suddenly.

I would appreciate it if someone could tell me where this black
greese is coming from, if I should examine the antenna motor (I
didn't take the time to remove all those panels to examine the motor
because it seems to be functioning normally), and of course how I can
fix this problem.

Thanks!

AA

Friends Hi
I am planning to do a  modification to my air intake and I am trying to

that the most common way is to get the air stream behind the right

If you are talking on the front bumper, there is nothing behind that area.
Below that area is the front bumper reinforcement, and it can be cut down a
little if needed.  The largest problem you will have is that the radiator
and condenser are somewhat in the way.  The tubing would have to be routed
around these, and that looks like it could be difficult...

Perhaps build something into the hood would be alot easier...

For those of you interested in helping ensure that you don't get oil into
your intake tract via the PCV hose (there's no filter in the stock setup),
here's what I did.  It's a catch can that cost me about $10 in parts from
Home Depot and an empty plastic [Skippy] peanut butter jar.  The clear hoses
are attached to the crankcase and intake nipples, and there are brass
fittings attached to the lid (red) of the jar.  The jar is sealed with
silicone.  I'm debating sealing off the intake nipple and venting the intake
side of the jar to atmosphere (probably through a filter)...
