Re: Team3S: Clutch
I am on my fourth Centerforce in 6 years, (one Talon
Tsi AWD, two Stealths), and I have nothing but praise for them, save the cost. I
spent $615 for the pressure plate/disc, $180 for a new flywheel, $80 for the
throwout bearing, and a few dollars for pins/fluid, etc.
I am not known
to race every Integra I come across, but when I have done repeated launches,
recovery was quick with only the slightest bit of fade after 5 or so launches.
Longevity is decent as well, (40000+ miles is fine with me!)
I have a
used Centerforce pressure plate that is still good, if anyone is
interested...Reply privately.

Which clutch are you considering getting? I
purchased a GTPRO street spec
clutch and have had nothing but problems with
it. Brian told me that it was
not meant to be launched on AT ALL!!
after I had problems with it. It's not
like I constantly raced it
either. It's ridiculous to think that you are
not allowed to launch
from any stoplight whatsoever!! I would stay away
from the StreetSpec;
any other one may be okay, but if I were you I would go
for the new RPS
clutch.

Re: Team3S: exhaust question
Spend a couple hundred (at best!) and have a
shop weld up some mandrel tubing for you, say 2.5"-2.75" diameter...Buy a couple
Borla mufflers and enjoy your new exhaust!

Racing Seats Update
I'm reposting this in answer to the recent questions
with the following
update:
I like the seats. I finally installed &
sat in them. I did not like the
optional brackets I paid for with my order.
I ended up making my own brackets
to install. The brackets they sent me are
only good if you're real tall or
sit far back. Otherwise they are to high
and the seat back top will hit your
roll cage :) You can buy my usless
brackets real cheap if you can use them.
Again, good seats.

For
anybody interested in a racing seat...
I've chosen the following for
myself.
Corbeau Forza CSForza
I have a list price of $220 with shipping
included for each seat
plus $78.50 for each bracket. I was also able to get a
5% list discount
set up for anyone interested. Mention 3SI list. They can be
seen at:
http://www.sportscar-parts.com/seats.htmlThese
seats are rated, approved and cut a bit larger for an American butt.
They
also make a more padded model called Forza 2 but its heavier.
BTW, I have not
used or sat in them yet so make your own decisions.

Team3S: DSM Shootout
If I would have paid attention and realized where
the DSM shootout is being
held (10 hours from me) I'd have been there! But
it was just tonight,
approximately 8 hours until the event begins, that I
found out! :( I'm just
a newbie, but I'm eager to get to an event. In fact,
I was so eager, when I
found out where/when it starts, I started planning
the drive, but I got my
head out of the clouds and realized 8 hours is too
much short notice. :( If
it's near the East Coast again next year, count me
in, just wish I could be
there this time! I could have been a base for
comparison, since I'm still
running a bone stock TT :)
As for my
tranny trouble, I took it to a local mechanic in town we've been
using for
years, and unfortunately, the best answer he could give me was
"Better take
it to the Mitsubishi mechanic"...Don't know what it's like
around the rest
of the country, but around here, local mechanics=$$$, dealer
mechanics=$$$x10.

These are complex
cars, and, for you folks who have just joined the
ranks of owners, in *most*
cases you should have repairs done at a Dodge
or Mitsu dealer. If you
have a low-mileage Stealth, you might want to
check the Dodge dealership
first. I only have 24k on mine, and my
dealer (bought new from them)
still treats it as if it were under
warranty for a lot of little things, and
good Team3S discounts for
others. But generally, I've found the Mitsu
dealers to be a bit less
expensive, and (in some cases, because of greater
traffic) more
experienced than some Dodge dealers, so you might want to shop
a bit...
Good luck!
Forrest

Like many things on this board , when all is said and done,
more is said, than done.
In this case it's easy to say " hell I can do
that" but the ring is a hardened steel
truncated cone with a
bronze/brass coating. The cost and development seem to be
the big problem ---
you have to develop, test and manufacture for a couple of
hundred each. In
addition if driven while bad too long, the face gears on second
get
damaged so that needs to be replaced.
The attached picture
shows a close-up of a good/used 1st 2nd
synchro.
