Subject: Team3S: A lot of posts, but no way to answer them...

I'm posting this to both lists that I am on because about 3 weeks ago,
I lost my harddisk, and subsequently my emails and other stuff. A day
after losing everything, I went on vacation for 2 weeks. I have JUST
pieced my computer back together, and am almost 100% up to speed, but
I do remember posting about some stuff earlier, regarding knock
sensors and about CD's.

If you have any questions, and have been trying to email me, please
resend the email. Hotmail stopped accepting new emails after my box
got flooded with posts, so I believe I never received some emails
after or around the 4rth.

If you have been waiting for a CD, thank you for your patience, they
all left either Wednesday, or will leave today (Friday), I'm sure you
can understand my situation... All this and on top of that, my dogs
almost died because the "house sitters" left them for 3 days with no
food and water, kinda makes your vacation not so fun!

Thanks!

The first place I would look would be the vacuum pump (as you obviously
are). The vacuum nipple has a tendency to break off. It is located directly
under all the cables, attached to the pump (unless it broke off, in which
case it would be hanging with the hose in the general vicinity)

Subject: Team3S: 1991 & 1992 carpet difference? Help

I was wanting to put aftermarket pre-molded carpet in my '91 3000GT.
The companies that sell them say that their pre-molded ones are for
'92 through '96 and won't fit in a '91. Sunrise Mitsu says they are
the same. What's the deal? Thanks in advance.

Subject: Re: Team3S: A lot of posts, (Some Words about the CD Manuals)

It was funny that I saw this post today.  After last night, I felt the need
to comment on Vineet Singh's CD Manuals.  When I first got them, I played
with them a bit, then they just kinda sat there.  Time had dictated that I
wouldn't be playing with new toys for a while (Trying to turn a bare chassis
into a 11 (or possibly 10..) second street car in a matter of a week and 1/2
doesn't leave much time left for fun).  However, last night as I was putting
together the long shortblock, I suddenly found myself needing torque specs
that I couldn't remember for the life of me.  With my collection of manuals
about 2 hours away from me, and it being 3 am, I thought that I was pretty
much beaten, then Vineet's CD Manuals popped into my mind.  I ran inside,
turned on the computer, and luckily I had loaded them onto the harddrive as I
left the disks at work.  Voila...all the information that I needed, and found
a few interesting things on the CD while browsing quickly.  What a life
saver!!!  Vineet, track me down at the SO if you go and I'll by ya a beer.  I
thank you again for the manuals, and suggest that anyone who does their own
work should consider purchasing these manuals and loading it onto your hard
drive of your laptop and/or desktop computer.  You never know when you'll be
caught in the same predicament I was!  Thanks again Vineet!

Is it possible to remove the pre-cats on our cars. If not, can they be
gutted? Also- Is it possible to run 2 different size turbos?

the pre-cats are a BHAB (Big Hairy Ass female-dog) to remove IMHO.

Can be done..but stinks to do it.

Two different turbos..Ive thought about it a lot.  What would happen is the
first turbo to come up would spend all its energy backfilling the turbo system
thats UP up yet, and on the high end the other way around.

You would get better response from two identical turbos

Subject: Re: Team3S: Dangerous Dyno Session !!

Joe made a very good point and yes, the combustion chamber has been balanced
on my car as well as they special shop ported the heads.

I'm almost sure an air pocket got expansed and caused the damage. I will see
the stuff on monday and hope to be able to take some pics before they put
everything back together.

At the time I had the piston damage on my car I was in between a shop
problem and got screwed as they did not deliver the parts as well as the
piston offering was way too much money for me at this time. So I made the
error and did not got Ross or the much cheaper Magniolia pistons. If I have
to open the engine again sometime I for sure will change them !!

In the case of the damage, all injectors looked good as well as the intake
did. It is always possible that something fell into a cylinder during the
injector and plugs job. I always put some rags in and clean the stuff before
I open it, but it's always possible. But then, the two first dynos wouldn't
have been successful.

Yes, there was still enough air although we tried to give the intercoolers
more with two large hoses. I doubt that this was a problem because we did
this to other cars too often. Overheating has never ever been a problem with
our cars on the dyno. The psiton broke at the top between chamber and the
first ring. This part then crashed the plug and I wonder where the parts are
now. they could caused some damage to the head, the valves, the turbine
wheel and finally clogged up the rear pre-cat. We'll see on Monday =:-(

I just hope we can again learn of that story although we really don't know
the cause for the problem. Two weeks ago, Mitsu had another 3000GT from
Germany that drove at 1.5bnars of boost (anyone ever asked what a 2nd gen
with 13g can do boostwise ?) and the pistons had holes in them afterwards...
anyone thinks that this was detonation and lean conditions ? The
modification was a JET ECU with a custom program that increased the fuel,
removed fuel cut, decreased timing a little and for boost a bleeder valve
has been installed. No ther fuel mods have been done and of course the
engine blew up pretty quick after the bleeder fell off and the owner was
amazed of the incredibble performance.

the car

Thanks for all your support guys ! But what would you say if you get the car
back and he says sorry the engine broke due to an internal problem ? Ands
you drove the car for 2 years without a problem and gave the car to a guy
that nowe says somethign broke. Well I'd be abe to pay only a little but
customers are protected here by law and personally, I couldn't be able to
look in a customers eyes anymore when I'd give him a damaged car back. No,
I'm too much a human in this case :-/

I keep you updated and will post pictures on my site soon.

do it when you feel like... SUPERMAN!!!  I just did it today.  Fronts are
EASY to due the fact that you can remove it & hack away w/ a 1" wood
boring bit.  Rears are a diff animal because it's not easily removed &
you will breath & be blinded by metallic dust/hot metal flying down... I
was able to fully gut the fronts I GAVE UP on the rears after I got a
blinded one too many times & breathed enuff dust & got a BIG enuff
headache... safety goggles DIDN'T HELP.  did get a 1.5" hole thru the
rears though... perhaps on another day when I feel like superman, again.

but I can now hear the spool up & down fr the turbos now ;-)  and the car
is freaking LOUD.  I installed the ATR DP at the same time.  combined
w/the infamous Borla makes a killer sound.

Hmmm.  Tell that to the guys on this list who are
doing it as we speak.  :)

Hmmm, I think I already went over most of the
reasons in my last email.  To summarize, the GTO
was never very popular in Japan because it was
much too big (i.e. wide) to be practical on Tokyo
streets.  Ask anyone who lives in Tokyo.  The
Supra and NSX also didn't sell well due to this
same issue, but Toyota and Honda put a lot of
money into these cars in series like FIA Nippon GT,
etc.  Also, the GTO had no racing heritage or
Japanese history, and its exterior design was more
European in flavor.

Well, my links to the Japanese car scene are a
bit more extensive than that.  :)  She's been helping
me translate Japanese car videos and magazines,
but I also have other Japanese friends.  BTW, her
car in Japan is Skyline and she regularly took it to
the street races and circuits, so it's not like she
doesn't know what she's talking about.  :)

I disagree, and I think most others on this list would also.

So I guess if you want to drive a car that has gone
WAY faster than ours in the 1/4 mile and has a bigger
presence in US racing series like Speedvision GT, then
maybe you should trade in for a Ford Mustang.  I guess
it must a HARDCORE RACE car and "superior" to
ours, right???  :)  Have you driven a Ford lately?  :)

Yup, it's too bad.  My last post on the issue too.  :)

Have a nice day,
