I threw one of them on a bathroom scale after they came in and it read
18 lbs.  Obviously, this is not exactly pin-point accuracy but it was
in line with what I'd been told prior to purchasing (just under 20 lbs).
What I can tell you is that they are *ridiculously* light... to the
point of feeling "fake".  Anyone who's picked up a stock wheel knows
they feel like they're filled with concrete.  The contrast is huge. ;)

I've taken the numbers from the casing on the front turbo of my car.
Someone (sorry I can't remember who) said they would be able to tell me
if they are 9B or 13G turbos from the numbers.

Here goes: 49177-02300    TD04 (2/D)

Tallahassee Mitsu is not very quick with their email.  It is much better to call
them at 888-689-1788.  I ordered the following parts from Norco Mitsu last
Sept., whose prices are similar to Tallahassee's, but I didn't do the plugs &
plenum gasket yet:

114.44  timing belt
 62.62  tbelt tensioner
 21.83  tensioner pulley
 20.96  idler pulley
 78.54  water pump
  4.50  crank seal
  4.76  x 4 cam seals
 19.43  a/c belt
 16.89  alt belt
 18.95  p/s belt
~35.00  x 2 accessory idler pulley
  16.94  thermostat & gasket
- ----------------------------------
464.14  subtotal for 120K parts

While they're in there, you should consider replacing all pulleys (they have
bearings which will squeak when the wear) and seals.  You don't want to pay for
this labor again.

 Good luck,
Ken

I thought just the folks on the coasts were getting *&*&^% by their Mitsu
dealers, but I see it's everywhere
The Mitsu dealer in Cedar Rapids replaced my timing belt and water pump for
$720, parts and labor. It was under warranty, so maybe that's cheaper.

I'm with you on that --- the 17" tires are $50 less than the 18". At a set per
year that adds up.

These are the pre-93 9b turbos. The 13g's number is 49177-00400. The 400
stand for 93+ turbos and the leading zero is a grinded down number with a
stamped 0 for the modification.

I own a 93' dodge stealth ES - I recently noticed that there was water
building up in the passenger side fog lamp. So I removed it and found
out that the lamp had been broken at one point and someone tried to
repair it. Well as you can guess they did not do so well of a job - So I
guess my question is does anyone know anywhere I might get a used fog
lamp? I priced out a new one at the local dealer and it was 259.39 ( a
little to expensive for my pockets ). So if you know anyone or yourself
have spare parts please let me know!! Thanks!!

I can understand that, but the 275/40/17 Firehawk SZ50 EPs are selling for
$204 ea on tirerack (http://www.tirerack.com).  Personally I think I over
did it with these tires, they just stick too well and I'm not sure my clutch

Then you have a driver education issue..

Dont push it so hard...thats still a good clutch.

Personally ive tired of the straight-line stuff in the VR4, and have moved it to
open course work..which I would suggest all of you do at least once *grin*.

1320' use is just pretty darn abusive on our cars..I'll keep the Supra for the
1/4mi stuff, lot more durable.

Depends on how much you value your life --- I'd feel a lot better going into turn 8
at Willow springs at 120 mph if my wheels were the best available.

BTW, I see the CCWs are listed as race only --- Geoff, you have a set , care to
elaborate ?? Is this a lack of DOT certification or what.

Not aware of a DOT stamp for wheels..but I dont see a need for 17x10" wheels
that stick out of the car 1.5" all around for the street, and I dont have to
swap race rubber for street rubber all the time anymore either.

Im just sick of bending "strong" street wheels while racing.

If you wanna see what a 4000lb car under cornering stress does to a set of
racing OZs, I will SHIP YOU FREE a set of 17x8.5's that are bent in all axis to
the point that not even autox speeds are comfortatble...worse that having bad
struts that bounce.

Hear hear! I'll second that!
In drag racing, it's all over in 12+ seconds, then you have to wait HOURS
to run again. Same with autocrossing. In open tracking, we run flat out for
HOURS!!  And we really don't hurt the car, because we don't bangshift the
tranny, perform tire-burning launches, or run 7200 rpm all day (I shift at
6000, unless I am running down a 911 or an M3).  In fact, I believe that
open tracking is what the Mitsu engineers designed our cars to do, because
they are so good at it.

Subject: Team3S: Trying to bleed clutch, ran into problems...

Okay, I replaced the engine but haven't started it yet because I'm trying to
take care of putting all the fluids in and what not.  Well, I was trying to
bleed my clutch but for some reason the pedal would always stay light except
for the last 1/2inch when I pushed it in.  I did the "press clutch in a few
times while bleeder valve was open, then close it when clutch is fully
depressed" technique a few times but there is no improvement in the pedal.
When I say that the pedal is light, I mean that when I press it, it is not
actuating the clutch release cylinder.  It's like there is air in the system
and I can't get it out.  I disconnected the booster tube when I was putting
the tranny back in, so would that make a difference?  Is this something that
might be booster related?  Do I need to start the car first to build up
pressure somewhere?

Thanks again,
Chris

I guess that rules out Oz wheels. They bend, and Oz won't replace them, I
take it.

Has anyone on the list have a compilation of the different OEM turbo
numbers, both the stamped one and the matching 9b to 15 as they evolved over
the years. I would be interested in such a list, including the ones used in
the Stealth RT TT as well.

I certainly don't profess to be a world class driver, but I know my car
pretty well and it's a problem when the tires WON'T spin.  Instead, the
clutch slips.  I don't dump the clutch any longer, WAY too much traction to
try that, but it's a quick slip, one that would all but roast my Pzeros.
I'm lucky if it spins enough not to bog when it finally hooks, when it does
it's usually a cool night.  Besides, if the DF Centerforce can't cope with
400-420 hp, then it's junk in my opinion.  I'm planning on running road
courses every now and then, I'm only about 1.5 hrs from Summit Point, but I
need to get the new (factory) struts and Porterfield brakes on first.

So you can't race the OZ "Racing" wheels?  Nice...

I suppose I'll want to find some lighter, stronger wheels at some point but for now the stock 17" chrome wheels are okay for my needs.  They seem very* heavy though.  Less mass on the wheels would probably make acceleration and braking easier on the car.  I have a suspicion that one of them might be slightly bent though as I get some wheel jiggle when turning that alignment hasn't solved.  I'm hoping that it could actually be unevenly worn tires (worn from hard autocrossing) that is causing it and that a set of new tires might fix it back up.

Hi folks!

I know I am going to get flak for this.  However, I am willing take it on
the chin for this OT post.
I ran across this on Ebay, and it made me think of the first thing that ever
got me interested in these go-fast Japanese cars... :)

I won't spoil the surprise, but click on the link below if you like go-fast
cars *and* were a fan of Japanese animation as a kid.

I apologize for the OT post, fellas, but I really think it was worth it.
(It made me grin from ear to ear, and I had to share it with some of you)

Yes..isnt that a good thing tho!!

The clutch needs to be the weak point in the car..wheelspin loses time and
wastes -valuable- off the line momentum.

And..Ive always been of the opinion that the CFDF _is_ junk..they are on Supras.
