I know this question has been asked many times...  But I'm now in need of some
stock parts for my 92 RT/TT (tensioner, motor mount, etc.)  I would like to
know which dealership gives the best discounts on parts and a phone number.
Thanks in advance!

For the benefit of our new folks, this information bears repeating...

For NEW parts, there are numerous Mitsubishi dealers (yes, you can order Stealth
parts too) that provide a generous discount to list members.  The ones that come
up most frequently are:

Lou Fuzz Mitsu, 1-800-528-2525, ask for Greg or Marty.  They're in Saint Louis
Rockland Mitsu 1-914-353-2100, ask for Terry.  They're in New York City
West Broad Mitsu 1-800-229-1001, they're in Virginia
Tallahassee Mitsu 1-888-825-5648 (1-888-tall-mit).  They're in Florida.
Tallahassee is also at http://www.worldparts.com/tallmits or
tallmits@mindspring.com
Norco Mitsu 1-888-689-1788, ask for Bill.  They are in Sothern California.  They
are also at http://www.norcomits.com

Also, try these salvage yards for Stealth & 3000GT USED parts:

Well folx,

The clutch linkage on my '91 RT Non-turbo Stealth finally broke at 181K miles.  I will never know how long an original clutch should last, since I will now change the clutch parts along with the linkage.

I am astounded at how well this car has been put together.

Errr...  Ever think to check on our Team3S FAQ pages?  It's under "The
Basics - Info for Newbies"...  Vineet's Manuals on CD reference is there
too.

Subject: Team3S: Questions

I have a couple of questions.  I have a 99 VR4 and have done some mods on
it, and am in the process of doing some more mods.

1.  One of the first mods was a HKS Boost Controller EZ (not interested in
all the bells and whistles.)  Ever since installation at higher boosts,
14-14.5, I experience momentary engine cutout at 4-5000 RPM.  I have been
told by the mechanics that are installing my other mods that this is because
I do not have a Fuel Cut Defensor installed.  As I understand it, at higher
boosts the ECU senses this and dumps extra fuel into the cylinders to
prevent detonation.  Allegedly the Fuel Cut Defensor "tricks" the ECU into
not recognizing the extra boost, thus not dumping the extra fuel.  I have
never seen anything about this Fuel Cut Defensor on any of the 3000GT sites.
Does anyone knoew anything about it, and do I really need one?

2.  They are installing an Apex i Super AFC fuel Controller and every time
that they connect it to the power in the car, it will not start.  When it it
is disconnected, the car starts without difficulty.  Any ideas?

Finally, I have been told by a relatively uninformed source that the 99
VR4's came equipped with the 13G turbos here in the States.  Is this true?

Hey, this is not a Toyota, hehe. Forget the FCD on our cars !!!!

Again, our cars are Mitsubishis and boost is not measured on the car (it is
calculated).

No.

Yes, throw it out of the car ! The onyl thing it will do is to lower the
fuel cut level as you try to increase boost and therefore fuel. The result
is that at lower boost you run into heavy fuel cut. Been there done that !!

Check the number at the turbos. The front one is visible and yo can send it
to the list for comparison.

For your problem, what are the plugs gapped to ? I'm sure that they are not
at 0.034" ;-)

Subject: Team3S: UPDATE: H. Tensioner Q: How do I tell if broken? PLEASE READ

To bring those up to status on my 92/TT with a possible blown engine,
today I removed all belts.  When I had parked the car, and inspected it
after hearing the engine noise, I realized that the timing belt was very
loose.  It turns out that the rear cams were still ligned up, but the
front cams are out bu 3 teeth.  I figure this is the reason why I hear
piston slap (maybe valves into piston?).

The question is:  How did this belt get loose?  Either A)  The belt
slipped a few teeth from hard driving.  B)  The belt has "stretched"  or
C)  The hydrolic tensioner broke.  I spun each pully/tensioner and they
all feel fine.  The hydrolic tensioner is loose.  It just flops back and
forth when moved (piston seems to be all the way out).

Is there a way to test the tensioner to see if infact it broke?  The
teeth on the timing belt have no signs of skipping/stretching/etc.  I
now plan on replacing the timing belt, hydrolic tensioner, fuel pump
(basically 60K tune-up), re-set the timing, then do a compression test
to determine if there is any engine damage.

Thanks for any input as I hope the belt just spun...  Even if I have
bent valves, atleast it's just an issue of removing the heads and
replacing them.

There should be *NO* flopping of the hydraulic tensioner.
>
> Is there a way to test the tensioner to see if infact it broke?

If it "flops", it's broken, and perhaps (more than likely) the cause of
your problems.

Check out the write-up on the 60k where the tensioner is specifically
mentioned, at:  http://www.stealth-3000gt.st/60k.htm.  It takes a vise
to move the piston back into the housing when it functions normally.

Ken,

Okay, I clear on regapping the plugs, and NGK's gapped to.034 are being
installed as we speak right now.

However I am unclear as to how the ApexiSuper AFC Fuel Controller cuts fuel,
when it gives you the ability to adjust fuel mapping.  Enlighten me.

Jack

Just replaced the front driver bearing and the tire still wobbles, which
equals shimmy when driving.. What else could it be?!?!
