Team3S: WANTED: Used Yokos
I'm looking for a pair of used Yokos, 245-18
inch. Don't need tons of
tread, but would like >5000 miles
left.
E-mail me privately if you've got a pair (or a set of 4) you're
looking
to get rid of at a reasonable price.
Thanks.

Re: Team3S: Sway bars
Who has em:
Curt's post the other day about
CarParts sale of the Borla exhaust also lists
the Addco anti-sway bars for
under $150.
Lean Angle:
I have Eibach Pro springs on my '91 VR4.
I have a picture of my car directly
head-on while I'm hard in a corner at a
driver's school. With the Eibach
springs and the sport suspension on
sport, the car was still leaning a fair
amount. (This is when I
measured a maximum instantaneous G-force of .97 using
my G-Tech
Pro)
Experiences (minor ;)):
While replacing the anti-sway bar
bushings, I figured that the front bar
replacement wouldn't be too
difficult. However, the back bar on a VR4 would be
terribly difficult
and probably require dropping the whole rear
end.
Understeer/Oversteer:
A stiffer front bar will increase
understeer IF the bar is too stiiff and causes
the inside wheel to lift in a
corner. However if it is not too stiff, it could
decrease understeer by
keeping the car flatter in a turn and keeping the tire's
contact patch more
parallel to the track. $150 is a pretty cheap gamble to test
it
out.

I ordered Addco sway bard from
CarParts. After having the order delayed 3
times (without
notification) for a total of 4 MONTHS, I cancelled the order.
They
might have good prices, but their customer service is *rotten*. I'd
rather bay $250 and get them before the *next*
millenium.

Its not a cable issue..the cable is

That's a good
assumption, but the cable may have become stuck along
the way and not be
pulling on the latch fully. Maybe during a recent
AutoX...? All
the more reason that manually yanking down on the latch
(as described) while
pushing down on the hood might dislodge it. Just
like when you hit a
heavy bump or come down REAL heavy after flying
over the crest of a hill when
racing...-- those are the times a hood
will occasionally fly open on it's
own. It's _downward_ pressure that
will loosen a latch. Coupled
with a yank on the release using the
coat hangar hook, it just might free it
up...
If you want me to come down and work on it with you, email
privately.
Having my Stealth there as a 'reference vehicle' wouldn't
hurt
either... :-)
Good
luck.

Just called addco.
They only produce bar
sets when they get 10 orders.
The guy told me it could be months before
they get enough orders..to build
any for our cars.

They are thicker..but it doesnt take a MUCH thicker bar
to work better than a
stock bar.
Usually stock bars on most cars are
hollow, or of a soft metal. Size isnt
everything.
They are
direct bolt in..if you can wait till August to get some.

You do not need to access the wiring
harness from the engine. Just cut the
tape off on the harness plugging
into the ECU and tap off of the correct
wires. Depends on which year
car you have. You should really get the shop
manual and see which pin
number is the one you are looking for. Look at the
picture of the
connector and its orientation and find the correct wire,
check it twice and
splice into it. The manuel is very helpful because it
tells you which
pin is rpm, speed, etc.
The ECU and harness you need to access are behind the
driver side console
panels which take 30 seconds to remove.

Sorry, did not follow your
question. I just cut the harness at the end of
the connectors with the
least # of wires, and reconnected them afterward
with solder and shrink
sleeves.

Team3S: OT: For Mikael Akesson
Hello folks,
I
apologize for the off-topic post. However, I have sent several messages
to Mikael Akesson at his email addy on his web site with no response.
I
know that he has appeared on this list a few times, so I am hoping he will
reply.
Again sorry for the
bandwidth...
Regards,
Dennis
Mikael,
I have a couple of questions about
the Aliante which you have on your
site. Did it come with a protective
grill? Also, how did you create the
fiberglass
enclosure?
Thanks for your input Mikael..
Regards,
Dennis

Just called
addco.
They only produce bar sets when they get 10 orders.
The guy
told me it could be months before they get enough orders..to build
any for
our cars.

I would also be interested in a sway bar group purchase. Are there
any
differences inthe sway bars between the various year cars, or are they
all
the same?

serious virus trouble around
