Subject: Team3S: Anyone care to check out my Timing and O2 Numbers???

Well I got my new scan tool from:

http://www.obd-2.com/

Works really well except for the low sampling rate. If you only log one parameter
you get 6 samples per second. Monitor 2 parameters and the sampling rate drops to 3
samples per second, and so on. Another thing that stinks is there is no knock sum.
Well I did some runs and here's the timing numbers for a 3rd gear WOT run...(The
timing number is total advance on #1 Cylinder)

RPM Timing
1965 22
1992 19
2141 17
2348 11
2617 8
2910 11
3250 14
3547 12
3879 10
4160 10
4492 13
4789 17
5074 18
5422 18
5648 19
5867 21
6086 22
6270 24
6488 24
6648 25
6781 25

Here's the mods:
HKS EVC IV@14.93 psi(drops to 11.66 at redline)
K&N FIPK
Greddy Type S BOV
Stock NGK Plugs @.034"
Accel Wires
Gutted Pre-Cats
ATR Downpipe (no main cat)
Borla Catback

O2's on a later third gear run ranged from .94-.96V with a brief hit of .92 @ 2621
rpm. EGT on the front bank of cylinders with the probe about 3" from the head ranged
from 1600-1640F. Oh yeah, I'm running 91 octane gas.

So what do you guys think of these numbers. I'm trying to get a good baseline for my
15G, 550cc injectors, HKS fuel pump, VPC, & GCC install next week. I see some timing
retard at low RPMS (less than 4200) but I usually don't go WOT at that low of rpms.
I was just trying to see how much knock I could get.

So are these numbers a good minimum to shoot for? I think if I can keep the timing
above 11 degrees, the O2's at .94-.96V, and the EGT under 1600F then it should be
tuned pretty well.

Thanks guys,

Trevor

Subject: Team3S: Autometer

I am going to put in my autometer boost gauge tomorrow and was
wondering if any of you had some tips. I've already got the
T-fitting, sealing compound, and I know where to hook it in to. What
I really need/want to know is how the nylon tubing stays in the
ferrule and locking nut. It seems to me that it will just pull out.
Is this right? Also, should I drill a hole in the pillar cover to run
the hose behind it? (I'm using a single gauge pod) Thanks

Try RD Enterprises. www.shox.com I have a set of adjustable GAB's with H&R
springs from them and love them. 4 way adjustable fronts, 8 way adjustable
rears.

Subject: Team3S: engine knocking

Hi guys,
My engine is making a knocking sound when I rev the car from about 2500 rpm
to about 3500 rpm.  I think it disappears after that, but I'm not certain
because the car gets fairly loud after that.  What might be causing this,
and more importantly, how can I get rid of it in a cost efficient manner?  I
just got the heads rebuilt about 5 months ago for $4k, so the last thing I
want to do is to dig into the engine again.

Thanks,
Chris Maxwell

Thanks for the info Joe!

I can't seem to find the marks on the engine that I align the cam gears with
(and the one I align the crank with) though...
Does anyone know where these marks are, and what they look like?
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
