List,
I recently had my motor re-built. - The SRS light is staying on.

Any ideas on how to reset this? or should I be checking for a loose plug
somewhere?

Thanks,
Eddie

Subject: Team3S: Giving up ReadersRides

Well, thanks for all the support fo rthe readers rides site.  I have become
too busy to keep up with it the way I need to and want to.  My car is
needing some serious attention, and I have lots of work to do on it before I
think it's "finished"

My offer - Someone take over the site.  The Tripod account is there, the
counters are there, the link exchange is there.  ALl it needs is updated,
and maybe a fresh new look.  Please someone with about 30 minutes free a
week, e-mail me wanting this project.  I'll even teach someone how to use
Frontpage and Photoshop if needed.  I'll even give you the software.  P.S. I
also got the voting script fixed, so that's all worked out too...

Please help me.  My car begs of you, and so do I

Who has removed their front clip and fron bumper reinforcement?

I am planning on some awesome mods to my car that require the removal of
this, and I'm trying to find out exactly what I'm in for.  I need to remove
the bumper cover and the reinforcement behind it.  Any experiences?

Thanks,
Cody

Cool..

But when I say light..I mean absolutely _nothing_ left in the car that doesnt
support the car itself, the driver, or the steering wheel.

Could be fun!

Most definitely!

Reductions in unsprung weight can dramatically improve handling,
acceleration, braking, and the quality of the ride itself.

I've done it.  It wasn't terribly difficult, but a lot of other plastic
moulding (in the fender wells, etc.) also had to come off in order to get
access to the screws to remove the bumper cover.  I did it in order to mount a
remote radar detector sensor right on the front bumper.  I wouldn't sweat it,
just have a plastic tray with compartments of some kind handy, for storing all
the different size screws and fasteners you'll have to remove.  Also you may
want to get a half dozen or so of the special plastic fasteners with the
philips set screw in the middle, as you'll probably strip a couple in the
removal process.

After replacing the stabilizer bar bushings I still get that irritating
suspension noise sometimes.  I also took off the stabilizer bar links,
removed the snap rings, and filled the joints with fresh grease.  I
noticed that the stabilier bar was slightly asymmetrical, higher and
farther back with respect to the rest of the supsension on one side than
the other.  I bent it with a big lever until both sides looked roughly
the same, but I'm sure its subject to such tremendous forces that if
something else is out of alignment, it might bend it back.

Its hard to say for sure, but it does seem a bit better, although not
completely fixed.  I'm not sure what to try next, except maybe to just
try ingoring it again (alas, this never seems to work for me !)

Subject: Team3S: $311 for a power antenna?  No way!

I had the motor in my power antenna grind something inside the box into
a pulp.  You could hear it going rrr rrr rrr everytime the radio was
switched on or off, only the antenna wouldn't move.  Two links of the
antenna had been stuck ever since I've had the car (it wouldn't fully
extend) so perhaps this was responsible for the forces placed on the
gearbox.  This actually happened a week ago, and has a good ending.

I just KNEW that it would be $100 - $300 for a new power antenna unit
(my guess would later prove correct, $311 from the local dodge dealer).
So I disassembed the power antenna unit and its gearbox, to find 1) it
has a lot of grease inside and 2) it was just one little plastic gear
that had been ground by the motor.  Naturally, I also knew that you
couldn't get just the one plastic gear, no, you have to buy the whole
new freakin' unit!  SO I first tried repairing it by coating the
gearhead with fiberglass resin, then carving the notches for the teeth
in with a dremel tool.   It worked!  For about 10 up-down cycles that
is, then it got ground down again.  The fiberglass resin just didn't
bond to the plastic well enough.

Next, I actually built a whole new gear.  I got nylon bushings from
eagle hardware that were roughly the same size as the different parts of
the gear (gear head, shaft, spacer, etc). and ground them into shape
with the trusty dremel tool.  This part took a while.  Finally I glued
the different pieces together, and had to spend even more time
fine-tuning the gear to take out the places where it stuck and correct
for other imperfections. I also took the opportunity to unstick the
antenna so it extends fully. A healthy load of white lithium grease was
applied to everything, the gearbox reassembled and put back in the car.
It works great, although it is slightly noisier than the old one (owing
to the imperfections in the gear) but I don't object to saving $300.

Moral of the story?  I'm fearing the day when parts for these cars are
not merely expensive, but perhaps unavailable.  Maybe I need to invest
in a whole machine shop!

Subject: Team3S: ARC2 For sale

Hey everyone, I have a new Split second ARC 2 unit for sale.  (www.gtpro.com
has the details)

I'm asking 900.00 shipped for the unit.   I installed it, but have never
applied power to the unit.

I have decided to go to a stand alone fuel control system.

For those of you who don't know, it should work for most 3000/stealths, The
unit converts the factory MAS to a hotwire type MAS. (less restriction and
allows for tuning)

Email me if interested.
