Subject: Team3S: All 3/S Autocross event!!

Hey everyone,

I have some big news to report about the "Upper Midwest Gathering" in
Wisconsin Dells.  I went to the MAC (Minnesota Autosports Club) last night,
and "Minnesota 3/S" has permission to rent the autocross equipment for the
weekend of May 19-21.  So I am one step closer to getting an autocross event
in Wisconsin Dells.  Having an all 3/S autocross event will be the first
event of its kind, EVER, ANYWHERE!!

If you haven't signed up yet, do so soon.
http://www.mn3s.org/upper-midwest.html has all the details for signing up
and getting hotel reservations.  Also send me off an e-mail if your planning
on participating in the Autocross.  The cost for it will be somewhere
between $20-$50.  I still have to get some insurance for the event and find
a spot for it.

Moving forward.......
Curt

I have purchased a 91 R/T Stealth with a lot of miles on it, the tranny has

this car and heavily modify it. Question is, with so many miles on it,
should I scrap the engine, or will it handle added HP if it is rebuilt? Will
anything else be a problem?

He disconnected it but here are a few problem

1) Window don't work
2) Radiator fan ON all the time when car is started
3) Pop-up headlite don't work

He said new module/unit from dealer is 200 some bux!!
But he's gona try to fix the unit now, if he cant fix
it, then i need new "anti-theft control" module..

What u guys think?? Thanx for all ur help!

Did somebody say there were adjustable cam sprockets out for our
cars??  Who has them, and how much $?

Those 18T turbo maps look better, higher available pressure ratio
and more airflow at higher efficiencies.  What does the compressor
wheel look like from outside, has it a small/large blade size like the
G wheel?

I haven't spoken with Jim Rowe at Metric Mechanic regarding
the Getrag rebuild/synchro upgrade project for the last
couple of weeks or so, he said he'd be starting around now on
the trans I sent, with the help of those who donated $ for the
shippage etc, and Steve Medici who donated the hashed core...
Still have some potential cores coming to get more parts and
cores over there to make this more a production line situation
than one-off.

So, what you are saying is that turning the key did SH$%^&T in this
case.  Sorry that the problem was not an easy one to fix.  I was just
trying to help with the small experience I have had.

You may want to try some junk yards for this unit before paying $200.00
bucks for it.

The only thing that bothers me is that there is a third horn on our
car.  I have the two factory horns and an after market alarm system with
a siren.

Subject: Team3S: Adapting Turbo's from other sources?

First off, let me say that Roger Gerl is one of the nicest, and most
professional people to deal with.

I got a set of turbo's from him (stock 9b's, in very nice condition,
requiring no rebuild whatsoever), and was comparing them to my 2 burned out
14b's and one good T25 (Garret, from a 2g DSM).

I know I've seen people talk about other application turbo swaps before, but
always get rejected for some of the following reasons,

1:Turbo's are not identical, one is swapped
- --------------------------------------------------------------
A)This is not wholly true! Looking at the turbo, one only seems to be
really different, it's not, the exhaust side is only SLIGHTLY different
(between the manifold and turbo), and the oulet is different on the
compressor housing (one is goofy, the rear turbo's one-bolt design, while
the other one is a more conventional hose-clamp style, T25's have the more
conventional style).

2:Exhaust flanges are way different.
- ---------------------------------------------------
A)Can this be remedied by some sort of billet adaptor plate? I've seen
such plates for turbo's that are differently configured for DSM's...

3:Downpipe bolt pattern is different.
- ---------------------------------------------------
A)Does this matter? The stock rear downpipe sucks anyway, so getting
someone to make a custom one isn't that bad an evil anyway!

4:Oil and water lines are different, and also the center cartridge is
reversed for flow on one of the turbo's.
- ----------------------------------------------------
     a) Can't this be fixed by using proper AEM fittings for the plumbing,
or even using the stock lines for a bit, and then using rubber couplings for
stuff (with flanged lines so the rubber doesn't pop-off the lines)? Most
professionals use the fittings anyway! Even on "stock replacements (13 or
15g's)
     b) Loosening up the center cartridge and rotating to the orientation
needed shouldn't be that hard, there might be some pin/key that keeps it
from rotating, but that should be easy to remove/throw away)

- ----------------------------------------------------

A T25 can flow 330 cfm of air at 15psi, while a stock 9b can only flow about
250-60 (I think). What would two t25's be comparable to? 13g's? between
13g's and 15g's? 15g's? T25's have a higher efficiency impeller design
(staggered fin's, like all "g" trim mitsu wheels). I can usually find t25's
for less than 200$ in the DSM market.

Someone should come out with the hardware needed to use t25's in our 3/S
cars, it really CAN'T be that hard for a knowledgeable shop to do this. I
will look around at other turbo's and sources, but I think this idea is
decent, and doable! I just need verification from someone about the
paragraph before this one to see if it's even worth it.

Worst part I think is mating the exhaust flange of the t25 to a stock 3/S
manifold...

Thanks guys! (and gals!)

PS: How much horsepower do you think I can get putting 2 9b's on my 91 TALON
AWD? (It has a 2.3liter stroker motor waiting for it, complete with crower
rods, forged pistons, 8.5/1 compression and ARP studs everywhere)

With an estimate of 500 cfm, I think it would only be able to put out a max
of about 350 hp... similar to a proper 20g setup (not one that is being over
boosted) I just don't know what the HP would be when you add in the fact
that this motor has .3 more liters, and slightly higher compression. There
are reasons for twinturbo on my talon, one being it's an A/T and I want to
try something a little unconventional.
