Finally a question on this list that I know something about!

I doubt it.  The steering wheel controls are switches on a resistor
ladder.  The ladder is hooked up to a voltage (can't remember if it's 5V
or 12V or what).  So every switch on the steering wheel produces a
different voltage, for example, "Mute" might be 1V, "Vol up" 2V, "Vol
Down" 3V, "Search" 4V, etc.  This signal goes into the receiver, where
the voltage is decoded into the correct action.

If the receiver recognizes everything except vol up and down, it is much
more likely that the voltages his steering wheel creates are not quite
the same as your radio needs.  The ideal way to resolve this is to
compare the steering wheel resistor ladder on your car and his - I think
it's in the respective service manual for each car.  If the ladder is
different, that would be the problem.

I think I have the schematic in my 3000GT service manual.  If someone
will email/fax me (408-721-2233, attn: Fred Hamilton) the sterring wheel
remote schematic for a 91 Stealth, I'd be happy to do a comparison and
see what I come up with.

If I'm right, all he'll need to do is remove the steering wheel remote
control and tweak a few resistor values.  Hopefully.

Hi

Do anyone know if it's possible to mount a fuel rail, that is 36mm "high",
without interfering with the stock intake plenum (on a TT)?

Say Gabe:

I bought a 94 SL about a year ago and haven't had the pleasure of
driving the VR4 but I would highly recommend driving both, then wait
a week and drive them both again.  I miss the punch of the turbo
but these little 220hp engines get up and go rather well and I feel
a bit more confident with the transmission reliability of this
5-speed transmission than with the 6-speed ones in the VR-4.
Read about potential problems with these cars in the
archives to learn as much about them before you buy them.   I AM
happy with my car and I love the way it handles, especially
cornering.
It is a very comfortable car and has just the right amount of
"noise",
although the inside noise from the engine and rear-end may be a bit
louder than with the VR-4 (I think the VR-4 has extra
sound-proofing).

Hello everyone, I have just become a member of the list. I was
wondering, I am getting a new car soon, and would like some advice
on
what kind to get. I will be 18 soon, and the 3000GT VR4 and Stealth
TT
have been my favorite cars since they first came out in 1991. I
would
like to have one of these cars more than almost any other car in the
world. Anyway my question is, if I get a 91 VR4/Stealth TT, and it
has
high miles, will it be a money pit. Should I start out with the SL
model
or base model even though they don't perform as well? I'm not sure,
I
mean I just want to drive this car with 300HP, AWS, AWD, everything,
it
is my dream. So, if anyone has any information or advice, please let
me
know. Thank You
Gabe

Has anyone had the problem where the Air-Recirculation control
knob (above the radio) moves by itself from the Recirculation
position to the fresh air position when a window is opened or
vehicle speed is increased?  I believe it is most apparent when
the blower is on.   No AC is on. Is this a natural "safety"
design in the system to force me to smell the sewage system
plant I pass by twice a day on my commute or might something
be restricting the Air-Recir. lever  behind the dash?  If I slow
down or close the windows I can manually close the vent and the
knob will stay closed, otherwise apparent "wind force" (from
outside air I assume) pushes it about half way open again.
Thanks in advance.   Bob  (1994  3000gt SL)

Here is a picture of the new AAM Y-Pipe!  We will have a batch of them
ready to sell within the new two weeks.  They are pretty costly to make but
I'm trying to keep the cost as close to $325 as I can.  They are made out of
aluminum and the Y-portion was designed on a CAD machine for proper
turbulence.  Give me a call 301-294-2700 if you'd like more info. on the
Y-Pipe.
