Hello everyone, I have just become a member of the list. I was
wondering, I am getting a new car soon, and would like some advice on
what kind to get. I will be 18 soon, and the 3000GT VR4 and Stealth TT
have been my favorite cars since they first came out in 1991. I would
like to have one of these cars more than almost any other car in the
world. Anyway my question is, if I get a 91 VR4/Stealth TT, and it has
high miles, will it be a money pit. Should I start out with the SL model
or base model even though they don't perform as well? I'm not sure, I
mean I just want to drive this car with 300HP, AWS, AWD, everything, it
is my dream. So, if anyone has any information or advice, please let me
know. Thank You
Gabe

Gabe,

I hope this is not too far off the topic, because this is a technical list,
but you are making a very smart choice. You are about to buy the most
advanced cars of it's time. I have a '91 TT Stealth. These cars have:
ABS - Antilock Braking System
AES - Active Exhaust System
ASC - Automatic Speed Control
AWD - All Wheel Drive
AWS - All Wheel Steering
ECS - Electronic Control Suspension
FAAC - Full Auto Air Conditioning
SRS - Supplemental Restraint System

I have to say it is the finest car I have ever driven!! Oh, yes, I have 2,
and 1 TT Stealth has 140,000 miles on it, and is running great! You should
never sell it, because it is better to modify it, and then keep. They are
collectors items. Did you know that in just 1 year they make more Corvettes
than in ALL production years of the TT Stealth??

Tim

Tim,

I would definitely not recommend someone to purchase the 3000GT because it
could become a "collector's item." Car collecting is one of the most fickle
investments possible.
Buy the car because it is a great value for its money, and has enormous
performance potential. I can tell you this much. I have yet to see any
valued "collector's car" (unless we are talking about a car that was only
produced in single or double digit numbers) with 100,000+ miles on it! By
the way, as far as modifications go, the Electronic Control Suspension and
the ridiculous (as far as performance goes) Active Exhaust System were the
first to go! I am not sure I find the Air conditioning system or the airbags
such great differentiators either. - I mean seriously, WOW, I have an air
conditioner and airbags! WOW!  - (extreme sarcasm here). How many sportscars
have this? Most I know of!

You must own a 3000gt non-turbo to be so foolish. Besides, who ever said
that the 3000gt was going to be a collectors item, it's not! Only the
Stealth TT will. Please don't flame me or the car I drive just because your
not happy with your ES/SL.

Chris,

We have a new AAM Y-Pipe which will be ready to sell next week.   Our
Y-Pipe's are very light as they are made out of aluminum, and the "Y" portion
is made out of an aluminum casting which was designed on a CAD machine to
create the smoothest flow transition.  These AAM Y-Pipes put the others to
shame.  Defiantly worth a few more dollars than any other available.

We should have pics up early next week www.AlteredAtmosphere.com.

Hope this helps,
Mike

<<  need to replace the stock plastic tubo Y-pipe with a metal one. Where's
the cheapest I can find on for? I've seen a steel on for $195 which sounds a
lot better then $350 for aluminum.

Well, at least one part of Readers Rides has been updated.

Everyone can take a look at http://members.tripod.com/~readersrides

We have almost 5000 page views now, it's awesome...

There will be an updated mirror at http://stealth-3000gt.st/gallery as soon
as we get the username password problems corrected, but for now, I ask you
to suffer through the pop-up banner ads that tripod makes you suffer
through...  (unless you go to hotfiles.com and download a utility that keeps
them from popping up - i think it's called Pop-Off)

As always, send your cars pics to overclck@flash.net to be added; please
include brief description of the car, yourself, and up to ten pictures in
JPEG format, 640x480 please.  Don't worry if you can't get them to JPEG or
that size, just send them anyways, I'll fix them for ya!
