Stupid light is driving me crazy, and the car is bouncing like
the shocks
are on 'SUPER-HARD'. I feel like I'm in a LOW-RIDER.
I read somewhere that it is a broken wire under the hood. Can I
just order
the assembly from Mitsubitshi?

Hi Tim;
The Mitsu fix is of course an alternative, albeit an expensive
one. Try
checking the wires and connections under the rubber boots at the
top of the
shock towers (worn wires, shorts or poor connections). This is
where the
problem normally occurs and your time to repair it is all that is
involved.
Check the archives for more information as this has been covered
in depth
previously.
Best

Had exactly this problem on my 92 Stealth TT... frankly it didn't
happen enough
to warrant a fix. Though it did attempt to deafen me on occasion!
Good luck!

Fred and Tim:
I, too, got a flat a few months ago and had no idea until I
parked and was
walking away from the car!! My driver-rear tire was melted
from 60MPH
driving and was halfway off the rim! After seeing it, I did
recall that the
ride felt a little bumpy...but nothing like how it felt in
previous cars w/
flats. I was pretty pissed I had to buy a new tire just
because I didn't
know the damn thing was flat...oh well. I replaced just the
tire that was
ruined, as the opposite (passenger-rear) was fairly new with lots
of tread
remaining.
My car came with two different kinds of tires on it: one kind in
the front
and a different in the rear. Does it matter that these are
different? All
of the tires are about the same tread depth, but the fronts have
a very
different pattern than the rears and have a much higher treadwear
rating.

***This is the NEW Team3S list. See message end for more info.***
Just guessing Ian .... but it could be as simple as the LED not
being
plugged fully into the socket. Or possibly that you've got
a short
circuit in the wiring leading to that particular LED. I
don't claim to
be an electronics expert, but it is quite simple to at least test
the
first condition. Take a small screwdriver (like a straight
blade
eyeglasses one), and lift up the leading edge of the black
plastic
slider ... it should come up fairly easily ... be careful not to
lose it
... they cost about 3 bucks each! Now, you'll see a
small yellow LED
in a socket. You could either pull it out using a very
gentle pull with
a needle nose pliers, or if it looks like it's sticking up,
simply push
it back down in the socket. Good luck ... so far I've had
no success in
locating replacement LEDs, but a couple of people on this list
have
given me some great leads that I haven't checked out yet.
I'll let the
list know if I can find them .... ANYWHERE!

***This is the NEW Team3S list. See message end for more info.***
I've had a terrible time with tires on my VR4. I've replaced 10
tires in
the last 40,000 miles, and none of this was due to tread wear.
They would
just go down for apparently no reason, and get chewed up by the
rim before
I knew there was a problem. Once, I let my wife borrow the car,
and as she
was traveling at 75mph down the highway, she saw one of the tires
in the
rearview mirror as it was crossing the median! The rim had cut it
clean off
at the sidewalls.
I have always replaced one tire at a time. Normally I would
replace them in
pairs, but hated to do this with so much treadwear left on the
remaining
tires. About 2 tires ago, I replaced the rims with a new set of
'94 VR4
chrome rims, thinking that maybe corrosion or something was the
problem.
Apparently not. Before the last tire went, the tire shop did find
a slow
leak around the edge of the rim, and put some sealer on the rim,
but it
didn't last. Two weeks later, I had to replace the tire. It's
wierd. I
check the tires now everytime I get into the car. If I find a low
one,
sometimes I can fill it and forget it, and other times, it'll goe
down
every few days until I either ruin it or replace it.

I've got some 5 star TRMotorsport Typhoons and I want to paint my

calipers white, since my car is white, do you guys know of a
paint that i
could use that will 1.) resist the heat 2.) not need to be
repainted
everytime they get covered with brake dust?
THanks guys..

Folks...
A word of warning. "Conventional wisdom" says that we
should NEVER mix tread
patterns on a vehicle. It will GREATLY affect the handling of
your car. I
personally had that experience years ago with a beater, and had
trouble
controlling the car in corners at normal freeway speeds. You may
choose to
replace one tire (I personally have always replaced both on an
axle, or all
four) but it should be with the same brand, size, and tread
pattern of the
other three. Considering the speeds at which many of us drive
these cars,
please don't risk your life and endanger the lives of others, in
order to
save a little money on tires.
You can have a mega-built engine and drivetrain, but it's all
riding on
those four very small contact patches. No matter how fast you go,
you still
rely on your brakes and those little patches of rubber to get you
stopped
again.
Looking forward...Chris

Okay folks. Anybody with knowledge of A/F ratios and the like,
please
help me out. I have several questions.
1. Does anybody know what the stock A/F ratio of the NA DOHC
engine is?
How would I find out?
2. What is a safe A/F ratio? I don't want to lean it out too much
and
melt pistons.
3. Would an EGT pyrimeter be helpful? If so, can somebody
reccomend a
brand?
I know there isn't much I can do to the NA engine, but if the NA
motors
are rich from the factory like the TT motors, maybe I can improve
the
mix for some more power.
Thanks in advance!
