the automatics should run at about 3000rpm at 80mph.  unless, like one of the other respondants noted, the OD was off.

I figured I would kill 2 birds with one stone.
First off, Any info about the FL gathering should be directed to me,
privately.
The date for the gathering is March 4th, at Sebring Int'l raceway.
All interested should plan to attend, this is a very fun event, and also
informative.
Second. Tire goo disclaimer/additional info.
One of the main ingredients is diesel fuel. This alone should tell you
the flammability of the stuff. There are also a couple of volatile
components, so mix/apply this stuff in a well ventilated area. Be very
careful about how long you leave this stuff on the tires. After brushing
the stuff on, check the tires after 10-15 minutes. It will be noticeably
softer. 20 minutes tops should do it, but you can soften to your
preference. You should have the tires off of the vehicle when applying
this stuff, as the brake lines and paint can be affected.

***This is the NEW Team3S list. See message end for more info.***

All,

Please help me understand something. I had my starter not start, and not
make a sound when I tried, "no clicks". I turned the key to 'Start' position
several times, and then it would start. This was only intermittent at first,
then got worse. I brought it to the dealer and they said after 25 starts or
so they got it to do the same thing. Problem: bad bindix, fine, replaced
starter. A week went by and the problem returned. I brought it back, and
after testing, they said the 'new' starter they put in coincidentally had
the same problem from the factory- bad bindix ('yeah, right' I thought). The
starter was replaced again, and now after 1 month the problem is returning,
but very few and far between, not enough for them to detect it in testing
when I bring it to them. Bad bindix again???? I don't think so. And yes, I
was annoyed when they suggested that I push in the clutch far enough!!

Anyone else had this problem??

Tim

Was the battery negative disconnected before the install?  Then
reconnected and the connection checked for tightness?  It doesn't
sound like a Bendix problem to me...  More like a battery problem,
IMO...  Check for a loose terminal or corrosion.

My initial thought when you said that you turned the key and got no
response was ignition switch.  It still sounds like it could be that, but I
don't think that replacing the starter would make it go away for any period
of time...

Tim...

Check the battery connections. Also check for play in the switch itself.
This is especially at risk if you hang bowling balls or other heavy items on
your keychain.  :-)   Seriously, the switch wears and may not always make a
good connection. The symptoms should not have gone away when replacing the
starter if the problem could be traced to either of these, but intermittent
problems can be a bear.

Looking forward...Chris

Fun story, but not appropriate for the Team3S technical forum.  Please
try one of the other lists, which thrive on such posts.

Folks, feel free to respond to Tim directly, but do NOT continue this
thread here.

Thank you! -Jim
