Admin needs volunteers to test new Team3S webpages...
We're planning to
go "live" with most of the website on Jan 1, so we
need a few
members to volunteer to check out the spelling, syntax
and flow of the new
pages, starting next week... Email privately...
Folks who can read,
write and spell and have their own web pages
preferred...
:-)
Ho, ho, friggen ho...~!~

Team3S: Re: Proud owner of 4 new SP8000's...
I had the SP8000 (245/45-17)
as the second set a few years ago. I was very,
very happy with them and my
current Yokohama AVS-Z1 are just crap compared
to them. And yes, if you have
the mounted brandnew they are slippery. Zhis
depends on how they have been
stored and what grease the guys at the shop
used. I also drive the first 50
miels easy with some hard stopping and a
little warm-up on empty
roads.

A dozen able

webmasters!
:-) That should do it for us.
Thanks to
all!

EGT Temps...
Just finished my Autometer Air/Fuel and EGT Gauge install.
Tell me if these readings
sound high:
Idle-790 F
WOT-1620 F (pegs the
gauge out)
It doesn't peg it out immediately, it takes a sec or two of WOT.
I'm running 14.9psi. I
dropped it down to 14.2 and it still pegged the gauge.
I put the probe right above where
the left most front cylinder meets the
others. It will "see" all of the exhaust from the
front bank of
cylinders. Don't know how good it'll turn out BUT here's some ASCI
art:

EGT Temps...
Those numbers sound just about right. I wouldn't want
to run at 1650 F for
an extended period of time though -- pretty hard on the
parts -- but those
temps are what I would expect for a healthy running
stockish setup. 1350
for extended periods is probably going to be
fine. All of this assumes
normal mixture and no post combustion chamber
combustion due to extreme
valve timing, ignition timing or
mixture.
Dropping boost won't necessarily drop EGTs _given_ that fuel
mixture is
being adjusted accordingly. If one is experiencing high EGTs
and drops
boost and EGTs drop too, then the mixture at the higher EGT reading
was
likely lean and whatever fuel delivery mechanism was in place was unable
to
meet the fuel demand. EGT is a direct result of combustion mixture
not
cylinder pressure. Higher cylinder pressures (more air) will of
course
require more fuel.

Team3S: MN 3/S X-mas party
Hey everyone,
Minnesota 3/S had
its first annual Christmas party today. After we
exchanged gifts we
headed out to the garage to install a new styled Apex
AVC-R in our newest
member's (Trevor Jones) 3000GT. I must admit the new
AVC-R is a sharp
unit. Installing it is a little tricky since you have to
hook it into
the ECU, but all the plumbing is the same as any other
controller. And
besides, I just made John do all the ECU splicing. :)
Right
John!!
Just based on all the features alone, I'd recommend one of these
units.
Ho Ho Ho,
Curt

Team3S: Stupid Question?:1TopRubberShock/StrutCoverLoose
Regarding a
previous post on the struts being bad on my 1994 stock 3000gt
with 64,000
miles, I don't know, the engine mounts look good and the whole
engine is very
clean. However, under the hood the driver's side (left)
circular rubber
"cover" to the strut/spring assembly is nice and tightly
attached
to the 3 metal "clips" (all wires on both sides are good) like
it
was maybe factory glued or something. However, the right side
is very
loose and just pulls off and "sets" over the 3 clips not
very snugly: Does
this matter, i.e. are there metal contacts in the
circular rubber covers
somewhere where some type of electrical contact is
necessary (assuming this
is to the ECS assembly)? Can I glue the cover
on with silicone glue or a
slight amount of epoxy or something? Should
I take the other one off and
break the bond somehow to check underneath for
any broken wires? There is
something written on the top of each
rubber cover that doesn't seem like
real clear English (something like
"tool and no hands put" or something).
Basically I have been
noticing that there seems to be that "bottoming out"
sound with
normal driving over semi-rough roads and I am wondering if
something is loose
with the front end or if it is just the struts going
out. Thanks
in advance for any advice.
On a 2nd note, it was raining today and I
found the front end tires
slipping when I left too fast from a dead stop and
then I got the
chunk-chunk-chunk sound you all refer to as wheel
hop. I guess this
happens only with front-wheel drive cars with
too much power? Are there
any other front-wheel drive sports cars
in existence and if not, why would
Mitsu have continued to produce only
front-wheel drive vehicles? I guess
your anwer will be cornering and
upper end
performance were more important to them then quick starts off the
line?
Thanks again. Bob
