Sounds like you went
to an SCCA autocross. Those are set up for all the
tiny motorized go karts
the SCCAers prefer, with tight little corners and
stupid slaloms.. Try a
Porsche or Corvette club event. You'll run as a
guest, but the courses are
set up for high horsepower cars.
Also, use your AWD as a weapon. Put
power on early, sometimes even before
the apex. The car won't slide --
instead, it will launch you out of the
corner like a rocketship. Lesser cars
can't do this. Autocrossing is like
smooth violence: accelerate like crazy up
to a corner, bang on the ABS so
hard the car shudders, enter the turn under
hard braking, and get back on
the gas as fast as possible. Don't worry about
a rapid and violent
brake-to-gas transition -- the ABS will handle it.
Watch your tire pressures -- we understeer badly in such maneuvers, and
the
fronts can roll under. I have my street tires pumped to 44 psi in
the
front. Ask somebody at the autocross to show you how to chalk your
tires,
and check to see how far you are rolling over onto the sidewalls.
Tires are
not as important as in lesser cars, because of the AWD, but sticky
tires
certainly help.
You CAN whup their butts.

Team3S: Cuttingout at boost
Got a problem with my 3k, and I can't
remember if I posted to this list
about it, but I'm having a hard time
diagnosing the problem. Happens in any
gear, so I don't think it is
tranny related. Rev the motor to a 4 k or
above and you get a slight
backfire. Just crusing down the road and the
stock boost gauge hits 0
and you get a cut out of power and the entire car
shudders. At WOT it
feels like I may be hitting a boost limiter? Nut sure
but the car
shudders again and you can hear it backfiring again.
Do I have an exhaust
leak, am I hitting a boost limiter at WOT. Why would
this happen under
slow exceleration when I hit 0 boost. I am stumped! The
car has
51K on it. recently replaced air filter, plugs, & fuel filter.
What
is my next step.

Did you also changed the wires already ? Try
to unhook them at first, clean
the boots and contacts at the coils with some
contact spray and readjust the
boot with a small calipers. I sometimes got a
hesitation problems and the
cause was that one cyl. did not fire. Also
disconnect the ECU to reset any
set codes and to give the car a chance to
relearn. It is a job that can be
done in a short time.
Maybe it helps

Well, my car is still under
warranty, so I'm assuming the driveshaft
(whatever that is ;) would be
covered.
Is this a dangerous/bad for my car to be driving around with
this problem?
I just dont want something that is relatively easily curable to
cause more
problems.
Also, can anyone recommend a mechanic/dealership
around the Boston area
that works on VR4s?
In the meantime, I'll try
the solutions everyone offered and see if they
will
help.

Lately, within the last
couple of days, the drivers side window on my 93
stealth has been acting
different. It is doing slower than normal, which is
slower than the
passenger side all the time, and it won't go up all the way.
It stops
short about 1 mm.. thus, I have to open my door, and pull up with
my hand at
the same time I push the window button up.. What can I do to fix
this..
should I take it to a Dodge
dealer??
Thanks..

If it is due
to poor lubrication in the transfer case or transmission, it is
possible for
the gears to seize and lock up all four wheels, causing a nasty
spin.
DSM cars had a safety recall for this problem, which was caused by
defective
driveshaft yokes that allowed the lubricant to leak out of the
transfer
case.
Even if it isn't something that serious, the longer you run the car
with a
problem the higher the probability of screwing something else up that
won't
surface until your warranty is up. :-(

It is the regulator on the power window. Take it to
a windshield place and they
can replace the regulator for you. On my
Maxima, the cost was around $130.00.
I would not attempt to do this on my
own. You need special tools to do this
kind of work. It takes
about an hour to two hours to replace.

Well, this is brokerage
information and it will also not be imported to Europe
anymore. The car has
been removed from the Swiss Mitsu importers portfolio last
year and will be
gone next year in other countries like Germany and the UK. Of
course the
analyst only speaks of the US market but the 3000GT has never been
available
in Europe as an NA !
For the new Eclipse have a look at
http://2000eclipse.mitsucars.com/http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/inter/NEWS/9912.htmlIt
looks nice and a 3 liter V6 GDI would make 230-240 ponies. But why did
they
give it only a weak 205hp V6 ?? Furthermore, look at the sheet: 6G72 ...
does
this sound familiar ? Our engine adapted to the new emmission looses
another
18hp ! In Japan Mitsu have the Galant and Legnum with a 2.5l V6
TwinTurbo ...
280hp (jap), the same hp rating as the GTO. A GDI TT wuth 3
liter should make
easy 350 horses :)) Guess what a Boost controller and water
injection can do to
this system ... argh, just
dreaming.
